I got sucked into this show after watching Shonda's masterclass. She talked about her philosophy of never being guaranteed a next season and never saving story beats til the next season, either (even if it meant having to figure out what was going to happen next between seasons). Like, she would basically leave characters' fates hanging in the balance at the end of a season just so execs could ask her "so, what happens to Olivia Pope?" and she could be like, "I guess you'll have to renew us to find out." Fucking legend.
I am so confused by this comment. those sound like opposite modalities? never saving story for the next season and leaving characters fates open ended. one is like this could serve as an ending and the other is you better renew me because there is no end yet lmao
Desperately need you to know that I saw this video in my recommended feed, saved it to my watch later list, binged the entirety of Scandal in a week and now I’m back to reap my rewards (a recap of this absolutely insane show)
This is giving me motivation to finally finish this show lol. Also the reason why Edison’s actor isn’t always on the show is because he’s a theater actor! He played the Phantom on Broadway along with a ton of other roles
EDISON PLAYED PHANTOM?! That changes my entire perspective on the show not gonna lie. Also I wish you the best of luck in your attempts to finish it it’s quite the doozy the first 2 seasons really are the peak 😭
@@upinurbiz Norm Lewis was also in the 2010 25th anniversary Les Miserables concert as Javert. That is where I first heard him and his amazing voice! He does quite fantastic as Javert. When he showed up in Scandal as Edison, I had a fangirl moment, since I was right in the middle of my Les Mis phase at the time 😆
I would totally be here for a part 2 -- also, wow, the recontextualization of this show current day is kind of insane. Does Shonda Rhimes have a crystal ball??
I've never been so invested in something I've never even heard of. This is beautiful and I need to watch it again until I can comprehend the insanity within this work. 5/5 would recommend to a friend
I’m so glad this channel was randomly recommended to me. I could watch her talk about anything. I’ve never seen this show but knew this video would be amazing after the midnight mass/god’s not dead analysis. Can’t wait to see what she puts out next.

Grateful for your dedication to this because at some point in season 2 of this show I did give up because of how absurd it was getting so I’m interested to know how it developed from there.
Thank you for doing this big SCANDAL recap, so I don't have to. I am #TeamJake both for Twilight and Scandal. LOL. Another reason I love the show is the monologues, and the fashion!
