plastun is a device that finds the direction of a radio signal. it is a bunch of antennas in a circle and it uses that to find where stuff comes from. it can also do things like detect signals that are intentionally hidden in the background noise, and detect extremely short communications. and it has a secure communication link for sending the data back to the user in real time.
As for the transfer of Belarusian troops to the Ukrainian border: Of course that is a threat. But I believe for Lukashenko this is the only measure to protect his troops and equipment from Russian access. Putin is most likely trying to compensate for his losses with Belarusian material. The military is Lukashenko's power base. It cannot be in his interest to weaken this by transferring military equipment to Russia.
The Plastun is a great bit of kit. Designed to work as a network of devices on the battlefield it detects the control signals and radios used by the enemy forces both in strength and direction. Because they are networked devices, building up an electronic picture of the battlefield becomes very accurate and also resilient. So the drone operators are easily located, their operating frequencies are known and can therefore be jammed etc etc. I also suspect that the loss of an individual device is not critical although it might affect the resolution to some extent. Good to see Ukrainian manufactured kit being deployed on the battlefield.
Plastun RP-3000 is a small and light tactical direction finding system designed for direction finding of communication systems, automatic and fast radio monitoring, processing of interception data and registration in the reception area. The system exchanges data in real time to coordinate information on the location of radio emission sources and their characteristics, and to create a map of the electronic radio situation. Since 2016, PLASTUN-RP3000 has been delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and widely used in the East of Ukraine.
The RP3000 is an 8 hour radio/broadband signal detector that can be folded up and carried in a 39kg backpack. It's not a significant loss and is often used as more or less a disposable unit during recon missions. The Kazhan drone comes in 2 varieties - quadcopter or hexacopter - boasting an effective range of around 6km and a top speed of 120km/h. It can carry a payload of 20kg which is typically a mortar shell but it has also been used for deliver remote mining capability.
Thank you, Jonathan, for this extra losses video. I'm glad your brain can feel more comfortable. Cheers Slava Ukraini! Now, about your audio quality. I listen to your videos through a good quality sound system. The quality of sound is much better when you use your "boom microphone". Why then would some viewers prefer the sound from your head set mike? This is most likely because that mike accentuates the treble part of your voice. Some viewers may have setups that imbue the sound track with various kinds of distortion and noise. Accentuating the treble helps make your voice more intelligible, against the background of these distortions/noises. So these listeners actually mean that the head set mike's sound is more intelligible - not "better quality". My advice is to use your good microphone, and tweak parts of the vocal frequency range that improve intelligibility of your voice. E.g. Raise the treble a bit. Also dropping the bass a bit may also make your voice sound less "boomy" (The room resonances are picked up more by the "boom" mike, and they "muddy the picture, i.e. reduce the clarity of your voice. If you can't teak the bass and treble, let me know, and I'll figure out a work around for you. I hope this clarifies things in the often murky context of audio recording and studio acoustics. Both subjects I have experience in. Again, I hope this helps. Cheers Art H.

Afternoon Jonathan,, the sound is much better with this mic. The other mic is seriously lacking in mid and high frequencies. As it's an expensive mic, maybe it's possible to configure it differently? There is also the problem of the reception being highly localized, so the volume drops of when you lean back. TBF, your cheap headset mic is very good for vocal audio. It lacks the bass of the expensive one, so maybe don't sing through it, but the low frequencies obfuscate the spoken word for most listeners.
