Thank you for this! I can’t afford voice lessons right now and I have been in desperate need of your vocal coaching for church and worship practice! If you have anything on harmonizing for altos-I would feel forever indebted but mostly grateful! Thanks again!

I have a question, what happens when I cant sing songs that move quickly, like ‘Stitches’ by shawn mendes. In the chores it’s so hard for my to hold the sentences with the right tone and I run out of breath and my voice starts to sound shakily and breathy. I’ve tried hard, but nothing seems to work.
This is a breath support challenge IMO. Seek out exercises that work on your breath support and endurance. Make sure you are engaging your abdominal muscles when doing such practices. Good luck!
I would also suggest that you pick a song that challenges you but not to the point where you can't control your voice and your breathing. This will help you work up to that level. Practice your breathing and support. That's what I have found helps me. I always try to pick a song that will challenge a little more each time. But it's still doable and I don't strain my voice. I'm in my mid '60s now and I learned to sing in my '40s. My husband and I were on vacation, and we decided to go to a karaoke place for fun. Never sang in public before just around the house lol. The guy that was doing the show happened to be a professional entertainer who had retired from that. He had recording equipment and recorded us. I didn't know he was doing that. He gave me the CD and said go home and listen to yourself. I want you to keep practicing. So that's what I did! I also hired a coach for a year when we got home which was very helpful. But over the years, I stopped singing. I lost my enthusiasm. But in the last 6 months, I decided to get back to it and start over. I have found all of these great exercises online and then putting together what I already learned I'm right back to where I was. I might even be at a step higher now. My husband also sings. What we would like to do is sing in nursing homes and other places like that just to cheer people up. We did do that a few times years ago. Only competed one time because a few people were begging me to. I really didn't want to. I did do one very small local show and I won lol. Other than that, my goal is just to get to my best and share it with others. Good luck!
