I'm currently painting a still life with oranges myself and this timelapse video has been very helpful. I'm pretty much painting from imagination. As I'm a very inexperienced and slow painter and if I were to set up a proper still life the oranges would wither and rot by the time I was finished lol.
yes this is always a big 'challenge' or rather just a problem. Keeping the fruits fresh. I do put them in a fridge, buy new ones, or resort to photographs if everything else fails. But it is not ideal..
Hi Jos. As always your paintings are breath taking. You are on target for accuracy, color, value and temperature. You are just amazing. I have been following for some time and I have been painting too. For me patience is the key along with everything that involves oil painting. You are such an inspiration! Thanks so much for taking the time to share your work. I wish you the best and please take care. Blessings for each day. Maybe one of these days you can surprise us with a normal speed painting, nothing big of course. For example, painting a grape. Thanks so much again.
Back for years I have been watching you to paint. I do paint myself, but I do love to see others working and I can happily wonder around. Thanks for sharing this beautiful old master method. Robert :)
Though I love all your work, this might be my favorite to date! I like the glass reflections, the warm yet vibrant colors and the masterful use of light! Well done!
Wooooooow..... It's wonderful One. I'm also painting. I always like dutch painting, for it's light and shade, and for the vibrant colours. I really love your work.
hello Ryan, its a piece of foam board with cuts in the side at 1cm distance and fishing wire run through. I use it to check the symmetry: ie I finalize one side of the bowl for instance, and then center the grid on top of the object and check the other side...
Hello! I use regular ivory black. But I must find a quicker drying one some time. I do like slow drying paints, but the black areas always seem to remain sticky for a long time..
@@josvanr my boyfriend is living in amsterdam right now for a business project, I would love to see your work the next time i visit. you are so talented. Since I was 8, I wanted to become an artist. I went to an art high school. I quit because of how terrible I was and then became a mathematician instead lol but your work is so inspiring and beautiful, it makes me wish I didn't quit
@@kersa96 hi kersa, aha ok well for me it may be the other way around a bit I do love mathematics and physics but lack the talent... When you are in Holland pls do send me a message and come and visit !

i love your art
thnx glad you like it...
What is that grid tool you're using? Is it to get the geometry correct? Like the ellipse of the bowls rim?

Hi! Great painting! How many hours did this took?
thnx ! I'm not entirely sure, but maybe 7 days or so..
so beautiful! can i ask, why do you make it all orange before making it black?
Thnx! It is to make some warm color shine through the black background and the table. Those aren't applied completely opaquely...
