Oh my gosh Siciliano is so beautiful, my band is going to play Prelude, Siciliano, and Rondo and I seriously hope I get the trumpet solo. This this is a killer piece to play.
Dude I’m a sophomore and I’m first chair, just got this music today, I already now the solo, now I just have to fight off 2 seniors who want the solo too
Yall are talking about Fighting over solos while Im over here and have been the only Bari sax player in my ensemble for 2 years. I was actually given the alto sax feature near the end lol
Well technically you band detector is right. A sicilliano is quite literally a song from Sicily and general is supposed to be a dance but this is a slow dance but should still have a faster pulse to it.
Oh yah completely, I love that part so much. I play Saxophone and I always play any of those fantastic parts. However, I will not play the melody of Siciliano, only a ghostly background. It belongs to the trumpet.
@@WitchKing-Of-Angmaryou replying to this comment i made a year ago brought back a lot of memories. i played the tpt solo in siciliano and ur bringing back the memories for me now 🥲🥲
I love listening to this song so much! Before COVID had started this was going to be the final high school performance for me. Our group had put so much work and love into this song and we very disheartened when COVID canceled our final concert.
I feel ya. My band was going to play this piece for our district contest, but it ended up being cancelled due to COVID. It was my last district performance ever since I was a senior.
Getting crazy high school generational vibes rn! I'm currently a senior, and we're playing this piece now in band, just as we're returning from COVID. We'll be playing for all the sad graduates who didn't get to perform :)
Feel it! We were supposed to play Shenandoah my senior year, beautiful Ticheli piece we never got to touch! Feel very lucky now to have had the opportunity to perform this song sophomore year :)

I find the chromatic pattern to be pretty easy to learn once you've practiced enough. The issue is the tempo for me. Our band didn't play rondo as fast as in the recording but I still struggled with playing it correctly that fast haha. Most people just slurred through all of the valves and adjusted the tightness of their lips to do it at pace.
My band director kept the slow lyrical pieces for the higher bands, as he believes there needs to be incredible maturity in the sounds we made before he let us do a piece like this. If he trusted us even more, he would take it 5-10 clicks under tempo.
Siciliano is the best one - you can't even argue
Caroline Hannah trombones have a boring part
Rondo is cool for bari sax though ngl
@@TheRagingSpartan_03 rightttjsuehehe except when we get the melody twice lmao

@@addison5636 It's really fun to play but theres just something about siciliano that sounds so....good😂
Siciliano is such a dramatically breathtaking piece
I dont know what it is with this song but siciliano gives me this feeling of nostalgia, i feel like crying tears of happiness.
This is exactly why I always come back to hear siciliano, it’s just so beautiful🥲
our director told us that it’s supposed to feel “pastoral” and one of the other kids said “so like cows!” and he said “absolutely right!”
why do always haunt me cheese

I could have answered this a long time ago. Me.
Yes
My band director wanted to play Siciliano faster than in this recording. We still played it slow but not slow enough. I love Siciliano at this pace.
Yo same

We played it 16 clicks slower😋
Wow Nice Modern music 😮😮😮 good 👍 musics ❤❤ I always do a listen to musics ! 🎉❤
Played this with my university symphonic band and we killed it. I had the little alto sax solo in siciliano.
Newsflash: I played it again with my same university band… exact same part.

that rondo horn solo the first time is spooky the second time with the clarinet and oboe is downright scary

If there HAD to be a piece that would be played by basically every high school symphonic band for all time... damn glad it was THIS one!
