This is terrific. Was expecting it to be good, but this is better than I could have imagined. Anything Crass or Steve Ignorant do now is going to attract negative comments from the "haters" (to use an americanism) but I see nothing wrong in bringing these GREAT songs back to the people who it means so much to. I like the new female singer too.
Hello mate, long time no speak. I wasn't there out of choice, if I'd wanted to be there I'd have gone to Ticketmaster* and got one. Also the posters for it had a fuking great Crass logo on the back of them. * Also available from other mainstream outlets.
Where you at this? The gig itself was excellent, yeah yeah it's not the Crass of 25 years ago but I would rather have this then nothing, was a fantastic weekend.
30 years on and people are still arguing about 'whats real Punk, and who's sold out', The bickering, never ends, maybe punk isn't dead. Na, of course it fuckin is.
@JonnySpeeding I'm sorry to say that I'm working class or should that be jobless class, I googled this Guy Deboard and after glancing thru his Wiki he has much to do with me as Tory toffs who go hunting. I grew up with football, I love my club, I grew up with Punk Rock, I love my Punk, I listened to Crass because I loveed their music, then I checked their lyrics, I could identify with some and not others. I am pro life, should I stop liking Crass' music now?
respect to steve for doing this! he lived the life, he worked hard for CRASS, he earned the right to the perform songs he helped write all those years ago! penny would rather be sitting naked in his farm house discussing the merits of diy compost toilets and CRASS' legacy with a bunch of middle class crusty drop outs! gee, well she's been accepted into the art establishment! no one's sold out, they've all accepted who and what they are!
Well now i am confused, i googled Eve Libetine, and a recent picture of her was posted about 4 years ago, and she looks just like the woman on stage. WTF columbus?
It's the same on all the "Crass" vids I upped from that weekend, it's also the same on the various Discharge vids I've came across, saying Dischrage are shite/great with Rat etc etc lol
So you really think it was possible to get it exactly the same after all these years? When you were younger did you not like diff takes of certain recordings? I remember loving diff versions of the Pistols early stuff or The Clash or SLF etc etc
No-one would deny that this particular spectacle was thrilling (and Sadie Nine's delivery is pretty engrossing - like Vi Subversa in her heyday) but Crass' position was the antithesis of what the spectacle represented. I think that Steve Ignorant was never bothered by that kind of thing so I guess he doesn't feel the need to justify it to anyone.
Did you think she did a good job? Yes/No? The vast majority of people think she did, I myself thought this song and Bloody Revolutions were the best "Crass" songs of the night, you needed to see it up close to see the intensity that she put into the songs, youtube doesn't do it justice.
what is this lady doing? auditioning for the punk version of american idol? this is one of Eve Libertines most powerful songs.. they should stick to the Steve Ignorant tracks...
Crass is easier to spell ;p Seriously lots of bands do it and get away with it and it's what the tourists want!!! Crass collective does have a nice ring to it though..... Crass collective?
Crass didn't open minds, they closed them. They moaned, bitched, complained and hated everything without offering any solutions, alternatives, answers for anyone. They made youth despondent and pessimistic, they played into Thatcher's hands by making the weak weaker.
why do you have to pick holes? steve was an integral part of crass, why should he be described as a weak link. and what would be wrong with a crass reunion. the world needs crass now more than pre-1984. the feeding gig was a bit of nostalgic fun, steve ignorant should be applauded for having the balls to show his face on stage, not told to hide away and preserve the crass legacy to anarachist snobs. the young lads these days who think they're punks by listening to blink 182 need some guidance
voice is the only thing that soujds right. it all looks and sounds a bit heavy metal to me.... i mdunno any squaters or anarchists that canb afford a stage set up like that....
how can you say its steve playing with conflict. its not conflict. steve shouldve gott better band that didnt prat around like rock stars. looking back it was a great weekend but, its over. good look to sadie for getting up it takes guts. she did her best. the band though were wankers.
The young lads who watch this will learn nothing about CRASS. What they will learn is that everything they believe in is fake. They are enough good contemporary punk bands like for example The Briefs. This is a sellout. Steve shouldn't make people believe this was CRASS. This is a lot of what CRASS stood against. It's not snobbish anarchism to say that. It's an imitation of CRASS (I love that one!). Steve has no balls to present CRASS as another hip underground consumer product. Fuck all this!!!
sell out gig/ this was never what crass were about steve obviously thought fuck it about time i made some money out of this fame/ fare play to him in some respects
YuDongWang, you've missed the whole fucking point, this isn't crass it's one sell out flouting the name of crass. If steve wants to do this do it under his name not crass. Simple.
@JonnySpeeding Johnny you really are up ur own arse, I've re-read what u've said and checked out ur "hero" some more, my final conclusion? You're a Middle class intellectual who has tried to hijack Punk Rock which is working class, now gtfo. I despise people like you, reminds me of Monty Python Life's of Brian where they look at the single idealist and shout over "splitter"
still amazing after all these years.
i will always love crass.

Sadie Nine standing in for Eve, a real moment of insperation, brilliant.
Where you at this?
The gig itself was excellent, yeah yeah it's not the Crass of 25 years ago but I would rather have this then nothing, was a fantastic weekend.
Damn, I never thought to hear Crass songs being performed by members of Crass in the 21st century.
yeah shaved women, kick ass
pretty good. i like it.

30 years on and people are still arguing about 'whats real Punk, and who's sold out', The bickering, never ends, maybe punk isn't dead. Na, of course it fuckin is.
I think I agree...

Hope you've got over the worst, this is from October 2007 a Feeding of the 5000 show by Steve Igs and special guests.
Sadie was fucking excellent, when I look at my master tape which is sharp/better sound you can see how much she put into it, she was 100% excellent.
i think this woman did a very good job!
and a half.
It's an imposter.
Well now i am confused, i googled Eve Libetine, and a recent picture of her was posted about 4 years ago, and she looks just like the woman on stage. WTF columbus?
@crasschris1 its either joy de vivre or more likely eve libertine they were the 2 female vocalists with crass
It's the same on all the "Crass" vids I upped from that weekend, it's also the same on the various Discharge vids I've came across, saying Dischrage are shite/great with Rat etc etc lol
Is that Eve Libertine, or Jor de vive?
It's Sadie Nine.
czemu mnie tam nie było .
Proper
how you doing janer ? hope youre ok.
So you really think it was possible to get it exactly the same after all these years?
When you were younger did you not like diff takes of certain recordings? I remember loving diff versions of the Pistols early stuff or The Clash or SLF etc etc
and no Penny Rimbaud but still good
Screaming babies Screaming babies Screaming babies Screaming babies Screaming babies
XpunkXanarchistX ...My thoughts exactly ...is that Eve Libertine??? I hope so ;)
is that eve?
They do look similar, yes.
@noobishdumbberry i know thats steve/whos the woman?
No-one would deny that this particular spectacle was thrilling (and Sadie Nine's delivery is pretty engrossing - like Vi Subversa in her heyday) but Crass' position was the antithesis of what the spectacle represented. @crasschris1 Sadie Nine google that name and u will see her myspace page.
technically crass is still broken up thats why none of the members were there. but I dont think anyone can sing this song as good as eve could have.
Sadie nine did a fucking excellent job, not Eve but still.
haha, i was there dude. i don't think you were.
don't we all......?
you're 43?!
what is this lady doing? auditioning for the punk version of american idol? this is one of Eve Libertines most powerful songs.. they should stick to the Steve Ignorant tracks...
you haven't addressed a single point i made.

Crass is easier to spell ;p
Seriously lots of bands do it and get away with it and it's what the tourists want!!!
Crass collective does have a nice ring to it though.....

Chicken in a basket Crass! Fuckin awful!
Crass didn't open minds, they closed them. They moaned, bitched, complained and hated everything without offering any solutions, alternatives, answers for anyone. They made youth despondent and pessimistic, they played into Thatcher's hands by making the weak weaker.
I with you mate. Let sleeping dogs lie not become toothless shadows of the past.
This video is abysmal.
why do you have to pick holes? steve was an integral part of crass, why should he be described as a weak link. and what would be wrong with a crass reunion. the world needs crass now more than pre-1984. the feeding gig was a bit of nostalgic fun, steve ignorant should be applauded for having the balls to show his face on stage, not told to hide away and preserve the crass legacy to anarachist snobs. the young lads these days who think they're punks by listening to blink 182 need some guidance

not bad but its not crass why do people insist on calling some tribute with 1 member of a former collective Crass- it ain't Crass
@JonnySpeeding We're all wankers.....you stick to ur books and beliefs, I'll stick to Punk Rock music.
The young lads who watch this will learn nothing about CRASS. What they will learn is that everything they believe in is fake. They are enough good contemporary punk bands like for example The Briefs. This is a sellout. Steve shouldn't make people believe this was CRASS. This is a lot of what CRASS stood against. carol hodge does such a much better job. i mean besides eve libertine.
@JonnySpeeding There is nothing wrong with fucking football, jeez some of u feminists/hippies give left wingers a bad name.....grow the fuck up

sell out gig/ this was never what crass were about steve obviously thought fuck it about time i made some money out of this fame/ fare play to him in some respects

Worst version of this song ever. You can't ever replace Eve. It's HER song.
