- Step by step building a model train layout.
Finishing the bridge and taking a look at the painting, the weathering, and some details.
I'm trying my new Accurascale Mk 2 NSE Coaches. They are so good; they even seemed to help my Hornby and Bachmann examples.

I can see by the look on your face Rob that you are very pleased with your bridge. You have every reason to feel that way, it is gorgeous.
Hi David, thank you, David. I very much appreciate that. I was built to build. 😊
Excellent work. You should be very proud!
Thank you very much, Rob
Great looking bridge! Turned out amazing 👍
That is very kind of you to say. Thank you, Rob
Bridge turned out fantastic. Enjoy watching your videos. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching. The bridge is a fun one.
Hi Rob. Wow! That is an awesome piece of engineering and modelling that you've done. The bridge is so detailed with a lot of complicated detail. Bravo. Can't wait to see it installed on your layout. Cheers, John.
Thank you, John. It might look complicated, but it is not. The design elements follow a fairly simple idea, and implementing that idea completes the bridge. You and me both. It will have to wait a few weeks now. I can start planning it now in my mind, though, and will. cheers, Rob
Wow Rob, your bridge construction is mind blowing ! Looks just like the prototype. Thank you for sharing. I'm looking forward to seeing it installed in your layout !
Chuck
Thank you. It was a fun build. Installing it and creating the bridge abutments will prove interesting too. cheers, Rob
Hi Rob, that looks stunning, amazing how it gets transformed in painting. This really will be a centre piece when placed. The girders ready to support the track looks fine and in keeping with the rest of the structure! All the best Stephen
Hi Stephen, Thank you, I am pleased with the result. I used the wet-on-wet technique to do the weathering and I am very happy with the results. The weather is definitely showing, but not to the rack and ruin stage. When researching the design, I felt an open grid design would be more attractive to the eye than a solid ballasted deck, so that was how I went with it. cheers, Stephen, .........Rob
You've done a superb job of that Rob, well done 👏... Cheers James 🙂👍
That is very kind of you to say that, James. Thank you, cheers, Rob
I have been following this build of the bridge Rob and all I can say is that the finished result is outstanding, such great modelling skill, it will look even better once in place on the layout if it can look any better that is. Enjoy your trip away, I’m sure you will have a blast! 👍🏻👍🏻. Cheers. ……….Graham
Hi Graham, I have enjoyed this project in ways I haven't experienced before with other projects. Thank you. I am a little disappointed I cannot get to the installation process right away. Oh well. Thank you, my friend. I am pleasantly surprised at how strong it is. I could cover the deck with bricks, and the structure would handle it. cheers, Rob
Absolutely stunning bridge. Well done, it was well worth all the time and care you took to make it.
Thank you, I have enjoyed every second so far. Now soon, I’ll need a new project. Rob
Wow Rob, you are a true engineer of the model world..
I think that title is yours. Glad you like my bridge. I have certainly been enjoying this build. Thank you, Rob
Well done Rob, a fantastic piece of work mate, Boomer would be proud! Looking forward to seeing it on the layout now, it’s almost a shame you’re having a break!
Cheers for now, John
Hi John, Thank you. Boomer sure provides some excellent guidance. His wet-on-wet weathering is an amazing technique. My break, as you called it, is something I must do. Yes, I wish I could continue now. I measured up the area I will install it into yesterday, and everything still looks like it will work out. Thanks again, Rob
Awesome detailing, and nicely finished 😎😎😎have a good one mate
Thank you, much appreciated, Rob
Very impressive work Rob, you must have a great deal of patience, and an eye for detail...Simon
Hi Simon, it is not an exact scale model of a truss bridge. It is a representation of one. I have learned that the best results come from enjoying the journey and not trying to go fast, just putting one foot in front of the other till you get home. Thank you so much, cheers, Rob
Fantastic bridge Rob, wonderful to see what can be achieved with a scratch build, I envy your patience.
The patience is like going for a walk. You can't get home unless you keep putting one foot in front of the other. Thank you so much, Rob
@@FarlandHowe I see it that, if it takes ages to walk back, then it took ages to go, so don't start something you cant finish, that or if you must "go there", take the car (or in this case design it in CAD and 3D print it. lol!)
@@TimberSurf I mean, like so many things in life, you cannot accomplish much if you always need quick easy completions. To achieve a result that demonstrates significance, (not to others, to yourself) one must persist until it is completed. I didn’t work on this 8 hours per day, I worked on it when I wanted to over a period of 4 weeks. Glad I did 😊 The hard part is finding the right project. Thank you, Rob
@@FarlandHowe we could bounce this back n forth for ages! I have indeed scratch built stuff to a high standard myself in the past, but now use "modern" tools to assist speeding up the process, as I design stuff from scratch in CAD, my 3D prints are still developed from my head just like I would scratch build, just quicker to print off high numbers of repetitive parts. I appreciate the effort of scratch builders, I just don't have the time to do it myself and as much satisfaction from CADing bits instead. Like the bridge I have designed with something like 4,000 rivets (not that I used to be a rivet counter, until now LoL)
@@TimberSurf Thank you. I understand using printed parts. It is much faster. When I am making small multiples, I do think about how printing them would be a shortcut.
What a finish to a great project. I enjoyed this one Rob. Cheers Tony 😅
Hi Tony, thank you. Next is the installation. cheers, Rob
I will be watching that's for sure.
Nice to se completed
Hi Dave, Yes, thanks, and for watching
Awesome bridge Rob. You have done yourself proud! Will you give the bridge a name?
Thank you, any suggestions?
