As a Prince fan, I have to say, that was awesome! If you're going to imitate someone that's nearly impossible to imitate, that was about as good as it gets!!!!
What--fans have to be liars...this guy's not Prince and he knows it. But I believe that he is at least as much Fam as you are and put his life on the line (imagine the ribbing one must endure to portray Prince in any way). Are you a prince FAN? Then you should know that Prince didn't like the use of the word FAN. He said that fan stood for FANATIC and that he called his supporters and admirers FAM. Maybe he's right, maybe YOU are a FAN!!!! We'll be in the corner with the FAM, thank you!
GOD Bless you Jason...… THE BEST IMPERSONATOR OF PRINCE ! You have properly honored our beloved Prince. I hope they make a movie and use you to star in it for Prince. The NPG ought to know about you...if you haven't had the opportunity to perform for them. Amazing likeness.
Very impressive.....prince has sent this guy to really do the dam thing..he plays the guitar very close to prince and thats cool with me...............the guy really is great to to this close of a job.....and we should all thank him.............well I most definitely do........prince has moved on and this guy is the next best thing and he is really great in what he is doing......im in Las Vegas and my wife is a prince fan and im surprising her with this show........thanks alot for having the great people keep our greatest artistises around forever...................you guys are the best......keep up the good and hard work to do what you do...............GOD BLESS YOU ALL......KICK ASS,, ,,,, JUST LIKE(((((((((( PRINCE ......))))
Where will you find a guy that looks like, dancing like, plays guitar like and sings like Prince all in one? This was as close as you will get, I didn’t like his voice tone but that just keeps him from being perfect. This guy was born to imitate Prince.
From one of Princes greatest admires you guys were good... I give u guys a 9/10 10 being the best...keep up the good work....great solo to really close to the original.
Just saw them at the paramount theater in Aurora and he was awesome! He brought tears to my eyes singing Purple Rain. Must see if you get a chance. I never had a chance to see Prince live but seeing this tribute made me feel like I did. Thank you Jason you nailed it.
I have a love/hate with Prince remakes, covers, tributes, and tribute bands. I love Prince, and I myself do remakes (not covers) of songs of all genres. Prince hated people doing his music. I've found it difficult to allow myself to do the one Prince song I did do. But, being a fan of all things Prince, I would say other than the exaggerated facial expressions (seemed to be trying a little too hard, to me), this is pretty darn good, and I would pay a fair price to see this live. Musically, as accurate as any time I've seen Prince live which was several times, including one smaller event at Paisley Park.
They were doing their thing before Prince passed away, I seen them in Vegas probably about 8 years ago , and they were a free act in lounge.. my cousin took me to show.. having seen prince twice.. early and later eras.. let me tell you I was blown away!.. I told my cousin why they aren't changing?.. next time I was in Vegas they had left one casino to a big casino and charged now .. if you can get in now do it!.. I never like tribute bands but they will give you a great time.. we all know prince was special and this isn't him.. but go have fun..
Best channeling of Prince I've seen, so far. Yes, I'm a hard core Prince fan since the 80s. In my 50s now, and spent 30 years as a full time touring musician. There have been a ton of knockoff "impersonation" Prince shows. The worst of which seem to have the "Prince" performer channeling more of a "Micheal Jackson" thing. Talk about forcing your poor MJ guy to whip up a Prince show.. ouch! This guy, Jason, captures a ton of stuff, from little things like blowing the heat off his strings before or after solos, those bizarre Prince popping snapping vocal noises between song lines, spinning & splits of course...all the way to the big stuff like singing and playing. It's true, only one Prince...of course, of course. We all know that. But Jason is the best I've seen, especially this particular performance. He seems to be getting more and more energetic over time...faster, faster. Prince was tiny, right? Leaping around is easier if you're 145lbs... : -) You wanna really freak the audience out...start jumping off pianos, my brother, and you'll really be flying (thru the air, that is). Best of luck, keep it up, it's so fun to watch. Come to Nashville, lots of big rooms to play here...
going to see the show real soon. Life long Prince fan. I know what I'm getting into and going to just try to enjoy it. I will reply after seeing it. Wish me luck lol.
It is a known fact Prince hated Prince tribute artists. But that's Prince - he kind of had the right. I think this bloke is great at what he does and definitely has the guitar skills to bring to his tribute also I do love how he said "Purple Reign's in the house y'all" which to me shows he doesn't have some weird personality crisis like some Prince tribute acts do.
A gal I work with, who's a HUGE Prince fan, told me about "Purple Reign" today. She said if I was ever in Vegas, I might want to check it out. She caught the show years ago, really enjoyed it, and said there were moments she forgot it wasn't Prince performing (and she'd seen him live 8 times). Now I can see what she was talking about!
I'm so glad to hear a huge Prince fan's review considering she has seen Prince and she enjoyed the show "almost forgetting it wasn't Prince performing". I saw Jason Tenner and the Purple Reign review last week (4-14-17) in Vegas at the Westgate Hotel. Initially, I didn't want to go -had not seen Prince in concert and thought maybe it wouldn't be that good. But, OMG!!! That changed. It was awesome and a must see. We attended the after party. Jason is down to earth and as a friend of his said in an earlier post. He is very serious about his work and has studied Prince so that he can get it right. He seemed to understand that it is a "Tribute" and that he is not Prince. He and the band members are very talented. He has also traveled to different venues. If you go to Vegas - please go.
Nice tribute. My sweet Prince would approve. I think they're waaayyyy better than the a few other impersonators I've seen on YT & also some celebrities . I see that most of you are comparing him to Prince, but I really don't think you should. PRINCE IS/WAS ONE OF A KIND & NO ONE CAN DUPLICATE. They can only do what these guys are doing, dedicating and memoralizing a pure genius...
actually prince did see and met Jason tenner and his tribute and was impress cause we all know prince was picky of everything i been watching Jason since the 90's in my home town las vegas when he was performing at the board walk hotel Jason has came a long way and he is a super kool down to earth gent. you wont be disappointed in his shows he's a really good entertainer and im glad to call him my friend
Hahahaha cool looks just like Prince and the spilts confirmed it...pick up where Prince left off with some funky original music and u will definitely get the ppls love much success Mogul
Why do people who are not "musical" think they are "music critics"? I am a professional. Job well done and nice arrangement. Prince obviously gave them his blessing AND they were probably paying him handsomely even though he was nowhere in sight.
I have seen the real genius Prince in concert twice ,they sound almost like him ,but remember this is a fantasy band ,paying tribute ..the next best thing if you wasn't there ..I give them a C ...as in controversy .
Rosa Bennett - He doesn't have to look exactly like Prince. Who'd want that? But he has swag, blackness, a love for what Prince did and was...and he tries to emulate the uniqueness of Prince. He's been doing this since 2005- so he wasn't waiting in the wings for Prince to die. Prince was ALL about filling voids and this dude may try, but unless he's willing to go deep into Prince's catalog by adding the NPG and 3rd Eye girl repertoire, then he's living in Prince's past. To me, if they (the impersonators) don't show the spiritual growth and aspiration of Prince, then they are immature and half-assed. This one may turn out to be the same, but he could do well on the road- if he ever chooses to leave that safe LV space. He's a family man. His son and nephew work with him. I think he looks like a combination of Prince and Marshall Charloff another Prince impersonator out of MN. This guy is not as classy as Prince, but I think most females would agree that he is a nice piece of eye candy and he does splits- Marshall's smart enough not to do that (didn't do Prince much good in the long run, did it?).
This just reminds of me of what I already knew. Nobody can do what Prince did. He was just too unique and too talented. Any copy of Prince is a poor copy. But 10 out of 10 for trying dude.
this disgusts me it just makes me all upset all over again knowing that all the tributes means hes really is gone never to grace us again and this copy of his song is just not a plus for me
onesong2001 its one thing to pay a tribute the Purple One but to imitate him is another and thats not good just sing a nice song of his which is hard to do no one can do a prince song but Prince
Want to love this so much, the live aspect and musicality but .... I'm cringeing. Maybe if they put their own spin on it probably could work. The Revolution can't be duplicated let alone Prince 😔
So when are you going to break out and do be your own artist-Can def tell it is impersonation and that's okay- but you and the band are amazing! I can see your own personalities shining through..Would like to see some of your own art.
Tammy Gill ...Because PRINCE stop appearing on Letterman at that time. PRINCE was on Jay Leno Arsenio Hall I believe at the time. When PRINCE was on David Letterman he would always talk about PRINCE in a jokingly way...somewhat disrespectful comments about PRINCE.
Honestly, I don't see the point. If I want to see a Prince performance of HIS OWN SHT, I'd just find a video of his live performances. To watch a trying imitation of a musical genius and legend, just doesn't fit.
Francisco Del that's what Tribute Bands do. Do you not know that?? A Tribute Band will emulate the Artists body language, mannerisms etc. when performing. On the other hand a Cover Band only sings (covers) the artists songs and does not try to imitate body language, walk, dance etc. Since Purple Reign is a Tribute Band of course they will take on the persona of Prince & The Revolution.
I love it because I miss Prince and I'm pretty sure Jason Tenner is the closest thing to Prince I we will ever have again!! I think he's awesome and I can't wait to see Purple Reign next month!!
What a joke! This guys coming to my town soon and all my friends & family that know I’m a huge Prince fan have asked me if I’m excited to go. I’m like, “hell no, I have too much respect for Prince to waste my time & money on a wannabe”.
Nope. I would have more respect for an artist who performed their own interpretation and tribute, rather than mimic and leech attention and money from someone else's work...imitation and flattery has its limits
Me either. As a musician myself, I always felt that tribute bands were so called "musicians" who didn't have a voice of their own, and need a "road map" so that the music is already laid out for them. Corny, embarrassing, and just plain "tacky". Come up with your own music, and your own style. Have something to say "musically". Be innovative. This is plastic.
I don’t know … 🤷🏼♀️ probably because he thinks he is the real prince and has a big head! I said this last year and I stand by it today!! He has a bad attitude
Margie Allen- I get it, you're grieving...but I think that you're biased. This guy has won awards. He's been doing this since 2005. He obviously has an admiration for Prince that you and I don't have. He's definitely a Prince admirer and from the videos I've checked out of him- he's is possibly the best Prince impersonator out here. He's most authentic, don't know if he's a multi-instrumentalist with the chops of a Prince or Marshall for that matter. Prince has everyone's mind jacked up!
I understand it still hurts the fans who remember the man and still love him, but really, this guy wasn’t bad at all. Pretty good!
Nobody is Prince. But this guy does a damn good job.
As a Prince fan, I have to say, that was awesome! If you're going to imitate someone that's nearly impossible to imitate, that was about as good as it gets!!!!
U Call UR SELF A "FAN"....... ??? Go sit in the corner!
We've gone to see Jason a few times in LV and always enjoyed the show.
Until we get to see Prince again when we all kick the bucket, this will do.
I wonder if Prince ever got the opportunity to meet Jason and thanked him for impersonating him so well.
He has , Jason has said that Prince came back stage and thanked him . Gave him pointers & tips .
If they every make a prince biopic this guy better line up
I remember watching this on TV at the time ...could not find my jaw after! Amazing
Where will you find a guy that looks like, dancing like, plays guitar like and sings like Prince all in one?
This was as close as you will get, I didn’t like his voice tone but that just keeps him from being perfect.
This guy was born to imitate Prince.
I think the dude"s pretty badass!
From one of Princes greatest admires you guys were good... I give u guys a 9/10 10 being the best...keep up the good work....great solo to really close to the original.
He will never Prince, he is an entertainer and he does a great job.
Just saw them at the paramount theater in Aurora and he was awesome! He brought tears to my eyes singing Purple Rain. Must see if you get a chance. I never had a chance to see Prince live but seeing this tribute made me feel like I did. Thank you Jason you nailed it.
Great Tribute!
See them now in Vegas
I saw this band in Vegas and they did a nice job. The guy can play some guitar.
My sister and I seen them performed last night at the "Spirit Mountain Casino" in Oregon and they were awesome!!!!
***** They were really really good and I was very impressed!
Saw these guys in Vegas. They are very entertaing to watch. I like their rendition of the Purple Rain song the best
Saw these guys in Las Vegas the show was awesome my favorite part of the trip

I’ve seen this group several times, and they are the truth!
Just saw this tribute show at the Tropicana in Vegas, Jason Tenner and the whole ensemble were great, highly recommended! Fun evening!
Saw this band in Phoenix back 2013..they are really great musicians!! Great show and fun! Recommend if they’re still around
They were doing their thing before Prince passed away, I seen them in Vegas probably about 8 years ago , and they were a free act in lounge.. my cousin took me to show.. having seen prince twice.. early and later eras.. let me tell you I was blown away!.. Yes, no-one can top Prince ever but.. as far as tribute bands go.. attention to detail with these guys is nothing short of immaculate
going to see the show real soon. Life long Prince fan. I know what I'm getting into and going to just try to enjoy it. I will reply after seeing it. Wish me luck lol.
Nailed it
Perfectly said by Paul at the end of the performance...
My God Prince, you were outstanding!
The kids got talent !

Pretty good, we ll know that no one can be prince, but they were not bad!!
Yo Jay, nobody beats the Real. But your good bro, never let anyone tell you any different .
Bravo, j adore👍👍👍👍👍

Tommy Harris negative..I know this guy personally and when him and Prince met. Prince loved it
actually prince did see and met Jason tenner and his tribute and was impress cause we all know prince was picky of everything i been watching Jason since the 90's in my home town las vegas when he was performing at the board walk hotel Jason has came a long way and he is a super kool down to earth gent. you wont be disappointed in his shows he's a really good entertainer and im glad to call him my friend
NO... YOUR SWEET PRINCE Would Puke.
He looks like a character from a Dr Suess story. I love his energy
Say what you want, this was pretty on point.
Exceptable. Whoever this guy is he must work 24/7 to get moves and guitar down.
great great cover
let the man do his job
Hahahaha cool looks just like Prince and the spilts confirmed it...pick up where Prince left off with some funky original music and u will definitely get the ppls love much success
Mogul
Seen them twice in Vegas, it’s worth every penny!
Awesome
Why do people who are not "musical" think they are "music critics"? I am a professional. Job well done and nice arrangement. Prince obviously gave them his blessing AND they were probably paying him handsomely even though he was nowhere in sight.
Prince obviously gave them his blessing?????? WRONG.
I'd rather see PRINCE!!!
He really looks and sounds like prince
great job
saw Jason & Purple Reign in Hooters Vegas years ago . of course no one can be Prince but this group is pretty good
I have seen the real genius Prince in concert twice ,they sound almost like him ,but remember this is a fantasy band ,paying tribute ..the next best thing if you wasn't there ..I give them a C ...as in controversy .
Wow! What an amazing Tribute Band!. This guy looks like Prince, sings and moves like Prince as well! Prince would be pleased I think.
You didn't know Prince OBVIOUSLY......... SMFH
tusirwithlove don't look like Our Prince at ALL !!!!!!!
Rosa Bennett - He doesn't have to look exactly like Prince. Who'd want that? But he has swag, blackness, a love for what Prince did and was...and he tries to emulate the uniqueness of Prince. Brandon Beebe, Purple Veins is the best! Brandon will blow this guy out of the water.
i think a prince mike jackson elvis and the beatles tribute on one bill would cool long as there good as this i give this 4 stars
This just reminds of me of what I already knew. Nobody can do what Prince did. He was just too unique and too talented.
Any copy of Prince is a poor copy. But 10 out of 10 for trying dude.
this disgusts me it just makes me all upset all over again knowing that all the tributes means hes really is gone never to grace us again and this copy of his song is just not a plus for me
Kayren Williams
It is an assault on my ears, eyes and my memory.
onesong2001
lol oh no is it that bad
+Kayren Williams this is horrific.
onesong2001
its one thing to pay a tribute the Purple One but to imitate him is another and thats not good just sing a nice song of his which is hard to do no one can do a prince song but Prince
7 out of 10
Chance& motivation are a good prince tribute band also 😅! I mean chase& motivation❤
Weird, followed the Music Zirconia UA-cam link and there was a different guy playing "Prince". Not as good, IMHO...
Want to love this so much, the live aspect and musicality but .... I'm cringeing. Maybe if they put their own spin on it probably could work. The Revolution can't be duplicated let alone Prince 😔
Hell No!! LOL! Purple veins is great!
I love it
So when are you going to break out and do be your own artist-Can def tell it is impersonation and that's okay- but you and the band are amazing! I can see your own personalities shining through..Would like to see some of your own art.
Good interpretation,...just too tall!Lol!!😁
How did he get on Letterman LOL!!
Does a very good job but one thing that's difficult to imitate is Prince's physical stature.
Prince died the day before this video was posted.
get through this thing called life!?! It use to be celebrate
Frank McGhee What are you talking about? "Get through this thing called life" has always been the lyrics
I saw u when u were givin free shows on the strip. Gettin married in june Send me your info big prince fan.😁😁

Where are the girls? Wendy and Lisa?
Back when prince was living smh
Better than Madonna's tribute..
Nope RIP no one an do Prince x
trubluefan34 trubluefan34 right! you can play the music all you want, but you can NEVER play him!
I always wondered what happened to Kat Williams
Purple rain is prince no purple reign thats by future
Eric ..."ART OFFICIAL AGE"
Honestly, I don't see the point. If I want to see a Prince performance of HIS OWN SHT, I'd just find a video of his live performances. To watch a trying imitation of a musical genius and legend, just doesn't fit.
Not bad
it was good but it will not bring the same magic prince. gave
Isaiah Hunter well duh, everybody including them probably knows that. why not just accept it for what it is?
Elvis was easier to impersonate. Prince not so much. Still he can play and did a good job.
I'd like it better if he wasn't trying to look like Prince. It's just weird. Too distracting from the talent
Francisco Del u gotta put in the whole shabang tho right. Y not. Prince was hot.
What a joke! This guys coming to my town soon and all my friends & family that know I’m a huge Prince fan have asked me if I’m excited to go. I’m like, “hell no, I have too much respect for Prince to waste my time & money on a wannabe”.
I thought this was prince
Who is better? Jason or Mark Anthony the other impersonator from the UK?
Nope. I would have more respect for an artist who performed their own interpretation and tribute, rather than mimic and leech attention and money from someone else's work...imitation and flattery has its limits
The singer is a bit creepy. Like a camper, taller Latino version but they DO sound good.
Jason does a good tribute, but Gabriel Sanchez's Prince Experience Band is better.
I just looked them up and honestly, you must be affiliated with them because they are no way in hell better than Purple Reign. ESPECIALLY the band.
The band sound pretty good but don't try to be like Prince because you're not there's only one Prince and there's only one Michael Jackson
Just call the real prince to come in the show...What is this fake thing
I could never get into tribute bands...so corny lol
They were really good!!
Mz AbelXo corny? Purple Reign is an amazing Band! Corny is Kanye and most rappers.
saun klush is a killer elvis,
Sasha L their keeping his music alive
no.sit down.
Bad bad attitude!!! Big jerk but a great performance
Why is that ?
I don’t know … 🤷🏼♀️ probably because he thinks he is the real prince and has a big head! I said this last year and I stand by it today!! He has a bad attitude
give me some rotten tomatoes to throw at this horrible, thirsty imposter
Margie Allen- I get it, you're grieving...but I think that you're biased. This guy has won awards. He's been doing this since 2005. He obviously has an admiration for Prince that you and I don't have. He's definitely a Prince admirer and from the videos I've checked out of him- he's is possibly the best Prince impersonator out here. He's most authentic, don't know if he's a multi-instrumentalist with the chops of a Prince or Marshall for that matter. Prince has everyone's mind jacked up!
Tribute bands are creepy.
YnotNomis VERY!!!
I beg to differ. Brit Floyd The Pink Floyd Tribute Band is mind blowing!
YnotNomis mom
Guitar... Ur never gonna get it babe, but good try... O(+>
Give me a break. I look more like Prince than this fool. (Not really, but you get my drift.)
They butchered it. Just be you dude!
This is Not Shite
This is a no...
