Ron creates new musical paradigms and takes the Bass farther than ever before imagined with every song. The breadth and depth of his musical intellect is astounding. It makes me wonder what else is in that genius mind! Prayers.
This was the album Ron Carter was introduced to me by Marine bandsmen Anthony (Tony) Caruso. My principal instrument was the tuba but I was required to learn to play bass. I had no idea a bass could be played like this. While stationed in Japan, I collected every recording I could find.
Beautiful composition and makes me think of Autumn Leaves, in a way we never could never could have imagined if not for these artists ensembled and played together such.

astounded and thrilled us, expanding our minds and emotional vocabularies and along with it. Then came Ron Carter. With his elegant, sophisticated and determined genius, he is the "AI" of jazz- the next level, whose future effects we can only imagine. Prayers.
It sounds like Randy Newman ripped this song off for "It's A Jungle Out There", the theme for "Monk". There was even a track on this album called "Blue Monk"...
