The problem with the Police is that there are too many Captains, Colonels, Brigadiers and Generals (with Zero experience) sitting on their behinds and earning fat salary packages because they were put there thanks to their affiliation with a certain political party. These high ranking Police officers have no Idea of policing or personnel management they are only there to protect a political party and not the hardworking Police members and the public. Back in my days in the police a large station like Johannesburg Central and Hillbrow had a Lieutenant Colonel as station commander, Not Brigadiers and Major Generals.

A lot has changed since my late husband was in the police force in Cape Town. I was a reservist on his shift and it’s obvious how the police service has really gone to the dogs. The retention cords we had then were really good and so were the torches and batteries were provided. It’s sad that back up does not turn up like it does in the States. Can’t be,I’ve the helicopter cannot communicate with the cops on the ground. Wtf. Why on Earth was there not an operation plan? There always was. Why send the other cops home when the search was on? Does not make sense. My sincere condolences to the fallen police officer’s family and loved ones. Salute and Respect. May his Soul RIP. So very tragic. My heart goes out to all Police Officers. SAPS needs a complete overhaul. Smaller, decentralized stations within suburbs & townships Professional training. Operations and Admin separated. Better use of technology. There are a lot of areas to look at. However, all SAPS efforts come to naught when the rest of the criminal justice system is rotten.
