Wow!! What a powerful sermon preached from God’s Holy Inerrant Word! Thank you Lord Almighty for your Holy Son the Christ Jesus sent as our propitiation that we will never be worthy of! Thank you Lord God for equipping your saint Pastor Begg to teach the flock. God bless you all!

This was an excellent explanation of this passage! And i hope somebody had a chat with the sister who was disturbing the sermon all the time... boy was she annoying, but brother Alistair handled it like the professional gentleman that he is😅
I love this, thank you, then I thought that this seem to be a problem with David's family because his grandson (Rehoboam) did the same thing, seeking advice from the wrong people, not seeking God. Thank You Jesus, for Your love.
God is almighty and he does as he pleases. He is holy and can not be around sin. Most of Old Testament shows us how important Jesus is and how merciful God is to create away of reconciliation for us. We all deserve to dye to be hung for our ancestral sins. We see ‘how it Is’ for humanity with out Jesus. It also shows how their are great consequence, cause of wrath for sin, especially going against Gods will, rebelling against his word and commands. As always in the deepest sense it always points to Jesus and his sacrifice for us.
So, we know the God doesn’t always provide a clear path for us. So I believe when David inquired the Lord and the Lord didn’t give an answer on how to rectify the famine, David knew the Lord wanted him to figure it out. We see this with the Lord many times. So I wouldn’t call David’s compliance with the blood request an act of man. We did learn that only blood could cure the land. I’m not removed from the sadness of this passage. I just see how God keeps his promises through this. He’s a just God.
The truth is : that at least in the dispensation that we live in, God may not pay at the end of every day but at the end God will pay, however if you think we will escape the pain of our sins while we are still in this life I strongly urge you to reconsider.
I can`t give all the reasons here, but evidently God agreed with David and the atonement of the sons of Saul, as immediately when they died the rain came and the famine was over. Indicative that God blessed David`s decision and wrath was turned away from Israel. He gave the victims the choice, those on the end of a genocide. God gave him wisdom, therefore he didn`t need to consult the Lord again.
I’m not sure .. David is always the example that man is not able to be justice or righteous, but God still loves him and us. He was possibly thinking that he, David didn’t kill Sauls children, the gibbeonites did by demanding it.
Deeply respectful question. On the question of David seeking the answer to the problem of the blood oath broken by Saul, from the Gibeonites - If God can speak to Absalom through a donkey, did God not speak to David through the Gibeonite leadership? Therefore, God's judgment was done by giving up Saul's sons, except Johnathan's son? I do see the paradox (?) If that is the right word. The conflict that, the Bible does not also say, David saught God for the answer to how, to make Saul's broken blood oath right. It is perplexing. I do not see the brutality, as so awful, we do not act this way now, but God has directed/required his people over and over similar brutal, seemingly unkind, perhaps unreasonable (to us humans) acts for God's will to come about. So these verses do not shock, upset me, except that the question of, why David did not seek God for the answer. Did he not trust God for the answer? Was there not wisdom that he sought to make it right from the people who were were the object of the broken oath? As I write this, I do recall the warning, to be careful from whom you seek council. Sincere question. PS. I do see the problem of wondering if David was taking out revenge on Saul for all he did to David, by using this opportunity to let his enemies have their way, on the chidlren of his own enemy.

Food for thought, very interesting.
It is also about the death and sacrifice again of Jesus.
Timely and very fitting. May we faithfully point those we encounter during these trying times to our God and our Faithful Savior!

Wasn't it also against God's law to leave bodies hanging after sunset?
Ok to hang men but not after dark? Strange stuff this Old Testament esp judges.
@@RoanPretorius-de7xv it isn't that strange. The death penalty is a thing in both old and new testaments.

The soft voice of a child spoke
the truth of love with authority and ease.
His comprehension, so advanced,
of the struggle I fight, that I bleed.
I had overcome the worst, I thought.
But instead, I'd only faced the tip.
My heart so astonished by His words,
the comfort and understanding gift.
He seemed so young, a fresh fig,
fragrant, handsome, endearing.
But the wisdom in His eyes,
His tone commanded all fearing.
Why me, why this kind youth?
And why does my heart relent?
The grief abates to safe islands
where purpose declares grace sent!
The open channel once damned!
The relieved fear of impending sounds!
Reverse of mistaken to clear sense!
Release the loosed, bind nurture to ground!
I sat with Him by the fire burning at my hearth,
that Child, a perfect Man, God's very Son!
The day of Peace, I relented all war,
and the day all true kin won.
~ See you in heaven,
In Jesus' name, Amen.
