I remember going to BG in 1978 and seeing Loch Ness Monster. Of course I was too young to ride it. But I finally rode it in 1993. It is honestly one of the most beautiful coasters I've ever seen.
This was my second ever coaster and my first “real” credit since my very first was the then called woody woodpeckers nuthouse coaster at universal. I’m so happy to see this legendary coaster get some much needed love!

They did a great job. I would love if they could get back to timing the 2 trains through the loops eventually.

There's an easter egg on that Big Bad Wolf poster - Ronald Toomer was the designer of almost every Arrow from 1965 - 1995.

Loch Ness wasn't my first looping roller coaster (that was great American Scream Machine at Great Adventure) but I have a vivid core memory of going to Busch Gardens Williamsburg (when it was the Old Country) and my mom trying to make me get on Loch Ness. And I remember refusing to get on because I was scared of roller coasters and told her I would sit and wait for her so she could ride it (I was too young to do that of course) but I was not getting on that thing! A few years later I did get on it and it was great so I have enjoyed your updates on this refurb and any of your trips to the park as it brings up fond memories. Thanks for the videos!
Lockness Monster has always had two and a half of a helix in the tunnel and I'm old enough to remember when they had a blacklight painted Nessy on the inside or left side of the train. This is definitely an upgrade. My suggestion they should have had a big curved screen lining the inside of the cave and shown Nessy swimming around and another thought is at night have projection on the cave itself of Nessy with the Logo
Okay so the double helix has always been there. My memory failed me, but hey, then it felt new to me! 😂
Really cool! I've been looking forward to seeing what they've done ✅👍🏻❤ decent upgrades! I love the destroyed coaster car at the beginning but the stuff in the tunnel was pretty much what I was expecting. I know they can't do much because the tunnel is pretty cramped. Hope the video screen is cool inside ❤ I have mixed feelings but I like how they put on board audio 🔉
I’m sitting here crying as I worked this ride after we shut Drachen down when I was in high school at Lafayette. I haven’t been back to the ‘Burg since we moved in ‘99. Thank you for the the footage. This was also my first coaster years before helping it run so my goal is to get my now daughter down here to make it her first coaster. Thank you again for the happy memories 🥹

it would be better if the screen in the tunnel were bigger/wrap around. also, congrats to BG for replacing the bulbs on the green and blue floodlights in the tunnel; they haven't worked since 1997, but you cant call that a part of the new LNM because they've been there for a hot minute. lastly, the new audio - that's coming from the buildings and structures near the coaster, not the train itself, correct??

Thank you for this detailed video. I think they did a great job with the theming. I am looking forward to riding this again (I haven't been on this since the 80's , lol) I was just at the park in April , when I planned my trip I didn't know about the refurb. I am curious about Nessie in the loch.

It seem like what they did in the tunnel is nessy is in tanks and occasionally swims by.
I was always afraid of this coaster (afraid of heights) but it looks so fun! I actually had one too many drinks one Howl o Scream and rode Alpenghiest tho! Is this drop worse that Alpenghiest? Excellent video by the way 🤘

They even added special effects in that tunnel.
They did a great job. I went to BGW for the first time in 2022 and loved the ride. Can't wait to get back there and ride again. So was the entire coaster re-tracked?
I believe it’s MOSTLY re-tracked. Not 100% how much.
Big bad wolf was my first real coaster, and Loch Ness was my first upside down coaster
tbh i thought the tunnel beforehand had THREE spirals it felt so long to me. so perhaps i've gaslit myself about it

I rode 3 times today. Their's actually 3 screens in the tunnel. They were different on ech ride.
Lochness was smoother imo. Looking forward to the next ride.
I totally missed the middle screen BOTH times while riding.
The loops are cool, but only if the trains sync, although they may be not doing that due to loose objects. The first drop is glorious though.
I still think it would be better with an animatronic😊
