Thank you, enjoyed the video and a spot on instruction.Well explained I love the way you put the effort in to fully explain all the body plus and negatives all off setting each other.I been a subscriber for some time now. See you again soon thanks.
This is a really nice, eloquent breakdown of the components of the backswing Jonathon. I really like how you are not afraid to deal with the ‘reality’ of the golf swing even when the explanations required involve more complexity, because sometimes the subject matter is literally ‘more complex’. You have an ability to do this without making it ‘complicated’ and therein lies the difference, if it was easy we’d all be scratch golfers! I’m a subscriber because you take on the ‘difficult explanations’, the ‘quick fixes’ promised on other You Tube golf channels may inspire a good round or two but rarely result in any meaningful, sustainable swing changes - they’re good ‘click bait’ though!
This is really good stuff, Jonathan. I hope you do the same for the downswing. This is really helpful to me since my ability to tilt, is pretty limited.
And feel, many of them that cannot be described because forces are at work through the legs, other parts of the body and whatnot. You do an admirable job at trying though, and should be commended for it. It looks exhausting. Lol
Great again Jonathan! Can I use thises steps in sequencing my backswing properly or should I use these steps like you suggest to see if I am properly going neutral in my backswing? Love these lessons although I need to get going practicing more & more. Thanks.
Started off well by saying that the backswing is a personal thing, but then started confusing us with the 'perfect' backswing. You don't hit the ball with the backswing. Most instruction spends way too much time on the backswing instead of working on impact position, which is is the only position that really matters. In my opinion working on a free flowing natural movement that allows you to get to impact in a good position with plenty of speed is more important than having a picture perfect backswing. It doesn't matter how perfect your backswing and top of the swing position is, if you mess up the transition and downswing and come over the top or decelerate or get stuck you will hit terrible shots. If you watch the so called unorthodox backswings in professionals you will see that they have exquisite rhythm and timing (Furyk, Trevino, Bubba). Nicklaus said any more than 3 swing thoughts is too many. Having all these thoughts about backswing positions will add confusion and ensure poor impact.
Great tips and good pedagogy thanks!
