Not only is Marie kind, independent, and a hard worker but she has a million dollar smile. You’re do a great job raising your children. Much respect for your family
My mom used to tell me that her dad only raised chickens that laid the most eggs. The egg man came everyday to collect the eggs back in the day plus the milk guy. Mom wanted pretty chickens but grandpa said no. I think we raised the ones she liked when my parents ran the farm not far from you. Great memories this brought back. Dad does raise them anymore but his great friend keeps him stocked with fresh eggs.
It is my experience with my flock that male turkeys are awesome to keep. Actually Todd isn’t there just for fun, he is great to keep the hawks at bay and protect your flock from flying predators! Also the heritage breed that Marie is raising is very valuable to keep in existence as there aren’t that many farms keeping the rare breeds of turkeys anymore. Well done Marie! You could have your own great market item with them at some point going forward! ❤️
I never learned to tie specific knots, but I did learn the saying that "If you can't tie a knot, tie a lot". That's worked well enough for me in the past.
This is my first time seen your channel I love your channel you have a very blessed family your Beautiful girls and boys helping you it’s just a blessing God bless you🌹
Fabulous 💕 love your family and they will be so far ahead of the curve so intelligent 🤓 hard working. You must be so proud. Love how she gets a cut of the profits smart mom too
Ok so this is officially my favorite family. I can’t wait to start get married and raise a family on a homestead/farm. Annie you and your husband had done a wonderful job raising your children. Would love to hear your philosophy on raising your children. God bless you all.
Suggestion; sink a metal pipe (a size or two larger) than the one you had to remove; it can be flush to the ground, slide the pipe you had to remove into that pipe, then it can be removed easily when needed. We do this for our shed doors; we just use a long piece of rebar and it keeps our doors open while we bring our mower in and out, etc.
I consider hard working family farmers like yourself the salt of the earth. I wish I lived close to your farm, it is hard to find fresh farm eggs in my area.
I am a city girl and squemish about having to kill animals to survive. However, I also really appreciate the people who do it so I can survive. Second of all I love the fact that not all animals are being raised for food but for also companionship. Thirdly, while it is no ones business, I really like the fact that the girls make some money off of doing "chores", it teaches them so many valuable skills for later in life.
Very nice Farm and family! It makes my soul warm to see this way still lives on. I was raised this way but the family farmland was sold off to help out sick family members. Love it. These videos make many people’s days! Peace
Great job... I really appreciate u all.. Everyone knows what to do n they've a sense of business how to develop May Allah always bestow mercy on u all... Aamiin Yaa Rabbal'alamin Greetings from Indonesia
I like the kids work ethic..impressive! I too raise layers and sell eggs - Replacement birds this year totaling around 250. I also hand wash my eggs but have started using the metal racks out of an old fridge to dry the eggs on - they hold about 60 eggs, more if you double stack....I do put a towel under the rack so the counter is not soaked. I find the eggs dry way better on the racks as bottom of egg not damp, less laundry and are easy to move around on the racks if need be. I was surprised to see that the eggs were not candled and date stamped with the date picked. I do both as it helps for rotation in the fridge and lets the customer know how fresh the eggs are and that there are no cracks or blood spots. But whatever works for ya. Good job Marie.
I am so glad that I found this channel! It brings such encouragement to me. My husband and I just bought some land(raw) and are working, planning, and creating our homestead. We have two littles and I'm looking forward to what the Lord has in store for us. Side question: I notice you all wear dresses often. Do they hinder chores around the farm? Thanks again for the great content! God bless
Do you electrify your fence? We tend to have more predators if we don't. We have turkeys in tractors ourselves. So your turkeys and chickens get the same feed?
Hi there! I’m a new viewer and enjoying watching and learning from you. If you don’t mind me asking, why do you wash your eggs rather than leave them as is so they don’t require refrigeration? Thanks!
@@anniemcelroy2812 I thought that was why; so they look nice and clean. I prefer in their natural state but most people don’t want to see any dirt or poop. How long is the longest you will leave yours out before eating them?
You guys get snow right? I’m just wondering about your wintertime chicken coop situation, do you leave them in the pasture with the hay wagon chicken coop? Or do you move them into another one? I live in the Upper Peninsula of MI and we get pretty chilly here but we are building our homestead from scratch (wooded land, getting it cut In the next couple weeks to start building pastures) and I’m just wondering if that would work for 0 and below temps and lots of snow 😩
A well ventilated, insulated, structure would be best for deep winter for sure! We experience a significant drop in production and freezing eggs when we attempt to keep them in the mobile coop. You just have to weigh out the advantages and cost input into a structure like that versus how many eggs or chickens you will get.
Are you guys having what people are calling a hard Molting season with your egg layers this fall? I have 38 hens and I only get about three eggs a week. Do you have any tips and tricks on how to boost the egg laying up without using lights?
What is the water system called for the other birds (not meat birds)? Your daughter said what it's called, but I couldn't hear the word she said after flow. Thank you.
I wonder why you and your daughters wear dresses? Please know that I am not judging, but just want to understand. When I was a small girl, and lived in northern PA, in the 50's and 60's, we were not allowed to wear pants to school. IT WAS SO COLD. When the schoolboard finally allowed slacks (NO JEANS) we were elated.

We appreciate it so much, Gwen. Thank you.
I seriously have to say your daughter is amazing and fills this gramma’s heart. Smart, kind and gentle hearted but also respectful. Lovely young lady
Marie, I'm impressed by your industriousness and work ethic.
She is definitely a hard worker!!!! So thankful for her.

I love how the family helps with everything and that the kiddos get money from it. Teaching them the value of money 🙂
It's absolutely a team effort 🙂
I love your videos. I learn so much. Love your sweet family and how everyone helps to make the family unit work.

Hi Shannon! Thank you for your comments. We appreciate it!
By the way I believe all kids should spend a summer on a working farm as part of the education we pay for, if not homeschooled .
Send them my way:):)

Good Morning 🌞
Good morning
Out of 12 turkeys we only have one left. They are super hard to keep. We have no problems keeping chickens, ducks and geese alive.
Bummer, yes the meat chickens have been very successful for us :)
Well done!
I wish I lived near your Farm! It'd Be so nice to meet you all, Fellow Followers of Christ. Could be Jacob and Rachel Moment😉 ready to work

Hi your girls work so hard
You are so blessed 😍😍xx
I totally know...they are the best!
You guys are awesome!
I can not wait to get chickens on my homestead. I'm a bit nervous about meat chickens. Thanks for sharing!
Love having fresh eggs every day. And fresh meat. Such a blessing.
That’s a lot of chickens!
Yes, yes it is!

An old Coast Guard buddy of mine once told me, "If you can't tie a knot, tie a lot."
Hahaha.... exactly!
😂 lol

I'm so happy to find a Homestead family in Illinois..Where in Illinois are you...We are east of Quincy IL..

We wash eggs for our customers and put them in the farm shop fridge but for ourselves we keep them unwashed.
@@anniemcelroy2812 I thought that was why; so they look nice and clean. I prefer in their natural state but most people don’t want to see any dirt or poop. How long is the longest you will leave yours out before eating them?
We go through eggs very quickly in our house. It's hard to say.
I agree with
Oh my goodness is that egg gathering just one days worth? That’s a ton of eggs!
Yes! We sold over 24 doz just today... :)

What size instant pots do you use to start canning the chickens? And how many instant pots do you have?
This was a fun video! I miss having chickens, although we only had about 20ish. lol Approximately how many eggs do you get per day?
It changes depending on the season but right now around 12 dozen a day:)
Do you have a video showing how to tell when a chicken is no longer laying eggs?
No, we don't have a video but after two years old you will get continued decrease in egg production.
Are you home schooling your children just curious even though they get alot of teaching on your farm!!
❤❤❤❤❤💯

try a product called fix a flat for your tires
Was that just one days worth of egg gathering? How many hens?
how do you deal with mice eating the feed, freezing water in the winter, and predator loss?
What is the name of the hanging waterer for the meat birds?

I agree with Marie about the meat chickens they are nasty besides ducks I think the meat chickens takes it all
