In #BondiRescue the audience sees the action through the eyes of real characters and #lifeguards like Hoppo, Deano, Reidy, Jesse, Maxi, Whippet and Harries, as they catch thieves, perform CPR, make drug busts, break up fights, and even handle a navy bomb that washes ashore one afternoon. #AussieSlang
You're a flaming galah if you haven't seen part 1! ua-cam.com/video/LYH11XYWBzo/v-deo.html
stanch
If English is not your first language I feel like this whole interview is incomprehensible haha. When talking about the slang he is talking practically in code. To explain "Rooted" he says "Im gassed" another colloquialism. "Stuffed", "Im wrecked, im buggard, im cooked". Even his explanations are all slang. Language is so cool. From the UK to Australia to the US the languages are surprisingly different.
As a brit i never realised how similar our slang is, i use most of these phrases on a daily basis😅
Makes sense if you think about it :p
And he was right - Manchester is a city... 😂😂
Innit
Yeah, we definitely use most of these 🤣
Coming from South Africa, were a british colonized country for a long while and some slang and media and Tv just make it seem normal for me too
I learned more from this guy than the online dictionary
A lot of people tend to say that 🧐
Same 😆
Same herh
Same here
Same here
Production staff: "Today you'll be defining some aussie slang for our international viewers"
Jeth: alright
Also Jeth: describes unfamiliar slang with more unfamiliar slang.
Too true
Jethro: teaching aussie slangs
Me: * profusely sweats in 2nd language *
Love you guys, hope I can visit soon! Love from Brazil
Bom encontrar alguns conterrâneos por aqui
as someone from London i would absolutely LOVE seeing jethro learning British/London slang
Thank you Jethro for teaching us more Australian slang! 👍😊
Australian
He did a good job but footy is Aussie rules for me go swanies
The Aussie slang
I was also wondering what 5:18 means? 🤔
@Maria Hotgirl Vlogs WHAT ON EARTH 🌍 ARE U SAYING?????
i love jethro he is too funny, cute, kind, caring, and cute!!!!🤣🤣🥰🥰😍😍
Jeth is a real mood on its own, love his energy! I wanna start talking Aussie now 😁
Am I the only person who is addicted to this program
You and me both
Nope!
nope i love this
@Joseph Pretlove it's a bit old this but it's pretty great (:
Same
i was DEAD the whole video!!!🤣🤣🤣 i just have to say the accent on top of it all made it even better. i LOVE Australian accents!!!!😍😍😍
miss this boy. always brings a smile x
Thats funny what you say about Mosquitos. In Boston we call them Skeetas sometimes, as in Masquitas with a Boston accent. To shorten it we just say skeetas. Its amazing how on the opposite side of the world you guys shorten it but keep the front half of the word. So cool.
"True blue,
Is it me or you,
Is it mum and dad,
Is it a cockatoo"
*CRIIIESS* LOL
Is it standing by your mate when he’s in a fight or just vegemite
I loved that growing up
I love that he uses slang to explain slang. True blue Aussie I recon would be grouse to have a coldie with at a barbie
He needs his own show.
I’m from the southern part of the us and I’ve heard heaps, reckon ,and iffy used quite a bit around here.
Turns out some slang is universal 🙂
I'm from Ohio and I've heard and used all those too!
Jethro you r my absolute fav!! All-time scene was when you went and danced with dude who was conducting the ocean symphony wearing 🎧 headphones!! Legandary!!
A lot of Aussie slang is similar to southern slang in the US 😂 I live in TX and use some of these terms
you know hes aussie when he explains slang with even more slang
Jethro is the most precious gem. Would love to see more of him!
I love aussie slang ❤
Well done Jethro your a great teacher, Quite a few of those are worldwide or at least used here in the UK. I knew a lot because my late partner was a New Zealander and they use them too. You'e a bonza guy Jethro, love your style.
It’s funny, as a Canadian we we use some of the same slang (or at least know what it means), we use American slang and then we have our own slang.
We are a very confusing and confused country.
Cheers mate. 🇨🇦
Thanks, I’d probably need this if I ever go to bondi
I SPIT MY WATER OUT BC OF UR PFP😂
Crucial, one might say
i've watched this video a few times but tell me why i always lowkey blush at 4:06 LOLOL
This is the cherry on top of this show turning me Aussie
Edit: when he said “G’day maaaAAAAte” I cracked up 🤣
we call mcdonalds maccies or maccy ds in england and we call lollies sweets but we also call mosquitoes mossies but i honestly love jethro so much
Jetho "mos-SQUE-TOE! 😩"
"No. I don't wanna caaaandy. I wanna lollie." 😂
Here in the USA, Minnesota specifically, some of the same "slang" is used every day...iffy ,uey, reckon, true blue, yous, coppers...
Some used but not all the time (depending on where you're at)...knickers, runners, sick, thongs...
Onya Jethro! But isn’t a tinny also a can of beer? 😂😂😂
Yes a Tinny is a beer, however the younger generation maybe not be aware of this. But growing up in Australia 🇦🇺 that was a correct slang for cold can of beer 🍺 😁
Thanks Jeff! It really helps me and to get flash flooding off my mind from Hurricane Ida
Thoughts and prayers, hope you're (all) alright!
@@Cassxowary Thank you! Someone did get electrocuted and the flooding really isn't good at all. Places I've known my entire life are now under water and I have never seen my town in a flood as bad as it is. My governor also had to declare a state of emergency all because of the flash floods.
@@Jenna-gm7zq no prob! Oh no! And yahh 😔 and that's so sad... it'll be alright soon(:
@@Cassxowary Everything is fine now but I'll say the flooding was worse than Hurricane Sandy which hit NJ in 2012
@@Jenna-gm7zq that's good and aw I'm sorry, at least it's over now...
The best of the best mate 😂👍
💕He’s a true Aussie💕
Ah thongs. Standing in a queue somewhere in Bondi and an American woman losing it when she saw the sign saying “No Thongs”…… she kept saying “how do they know”, an Aussie friend of hers saying well they can see them…. “How can they see ?” I put her out of her panic… “you call them flip flops”…..
amazing
I can't believe Jethro knows of Manchester!! I live near there!
I would think most Aussies know of Manchester.
@@gregmiller2178 See I wouldn't think that. I reckon they'd most likely know of London, Liverpool, Bristol, Birmingham - like the bigger cities
@@mbreditz457 it is a big city though lol I think everyone knows of it
Manchester is old Aussie lingo for sheets, towels, napery, etc., because that’s where it was made if it was the good stuff. Old department stores would have a Manchester department where you would buy your sheets.
It's always a video that really shows the awesomeness of Life Saver when you watch this video. Thank you for making such a video.
i used to have a picture wall just of jethro
I live in Canada and heaps, iffy & reckon are words I believe are widely known but not used too often. And don't get your knickers in a knot is a phrase that is sometimes used, but the word knickers for underwear is understood but not used. Mickey D's is usually the slang for McDonalds. I've never heard Maccas. Sick is a word I thought was used worldwide.
Best quick video on Aussie slang so far with a great presentation 👍👍
Hiiii I love bondi rescue ❤
I love jethro 😭😂
I LOVE YOU JETHRO
Damn I actually always thought 'heaps' was world wide. Guess I learnt something new
Can't speak for the world, but heaps still means heaps here in Canada.
Same in the US too, although I feel like people say "a bunch" more than they would say "heaps," at least in my region (midwest)
Thanks Jeff! N yeah you're right, some of these arent just Aussie slang we use em here in the USA to😉 have yourself a good weekend!
As a Canadian, I, and many others already use quite a few of these.
What's some other Canadian slang?
Love Jethro ❤❤ if I was only 40 yrs younger 😂😂😂
I’m from the U.K. and I use a few of these words
So good! You Australian are crazy and I love it lol
As an Aussie living in America but obviously raised by my Aussie parents... I feel so heard and validated now! Haha! All the years of people not understanding, to the point I barely use the terms anymore, are now flipping a uey! Ta!
I’m from the UK and we use a lot of those here too but I didn’t expect Aussies to say “youse” I thought that was only said in Essex or some areas of London
and up north
@@Rickydogg Oh yeah I suppose, I forget about Liverpool 😅
I thought it was a New York and New Jersey think tbh
thanks jethro i am American and i did not know like any of these!!! 🥰🥰🥰🤣🤣🤣 for the "pash" we call it a hickey
A hickey you get when someone kisses you too hard on the neck and leaves a mark- a pash is adult kissing (🤣😂🤣)…and if you do it too much with too much passion you get pash rash from someone (eg a man) with a stubble on their face …
@@kabs1734 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m from Greece and I’m going to English classes there we learn American but all my summer vacations I was watching bondi rescue so now I speak only in Australian accent. I really don’t know what my teachers will think because I only spoke Amarican😂
LMAOOOOO
I learned today just how much of a crossover from UK slang we share.
Makes sense considering (kinda) :p
Jethro❤️❤️❤️. I did know some of these, thanks for letting me know
I love Australians accents they just so... LUSHHHHH *chefs kiss* ❤️😘🥰😌
1:25 LMAO , THE GALAH AFTER , 😭✋✋✋ -
G’day Maaaaate! 😂
4:58 lol his American "accent" is amazing
I come from Australia and tbh i thought that heaps, hoon, iffy, knickers, maccas and reckon are all used worldwide. guess i was wrong. Thanks Jeff
I don't think anyonein Australia uses the term flamin galah when it's not in reference to Home and Away
There are so many similarities between Aussie and British slang 🇬🇧
There's a lot more similarities between the two places, considering :p
I don't think I've heard anyone sound more Australian in my life haha I've lived in straya for 12 years now from nz and I still have no idea what hes saying half the time hahaha
Thank you ❣️😊
Love you all
Methods tounge click at 1:37 just cracked me up
I laughed so badly😂😂
I'd love to see Jethro try to guess American slang and British slang!!
I don’t know about everywhere else, but everyone in the New Orleans area where I live calls McDonalds “MickeyD’s.” Don’t know why, so don’t ask me 😂
And I thought everyone said “reckon” and “uey” as well lol
The ones that Jethro thinks are world wide, we also say in England. Maybe it's the history between the countries 😂
Jethro imitating an American accent at 5:01 is so unnerving for some reason 😄
This is so entertaining!!!
The mate thing was described so well and here in New Zealand also rolls over to the Bro for us, depends on your tone if the bro is your bro or not your bro.
Rooted also means something a little less than PG for both Aussie and us, but more so for the older generation. 😂
I could watch Jethro all day
Youre a legend mate....!! ✌🏻💗😊❣️
Hey! We say Uey for U turn in Boston too! probably more common than we realized.
Parametta Eel??
It’s a Rugby League team in Sydney.
Lol
Love it❣️
Aussie Aussie Aussie
Jethros American accent is hillarious
I'm from the UK and half these words, we call something else 😂 super interesting though x
Jethro 💛
I am the most used to hoon and I use alot more aussie slang than I thought
More is needed
Just wanted to say thanks for making me smile or even laugh when I feel like I can't (: like that one 😂
Have a good night and day you (one and all)!
As a British person are slang is very similar 😂 I use alot of these and i agree with jeth on some thing like isnt reckon used everywhere?
No entiendo ni madre pero me encanta Jethro
We use a few of those words here in Missouri, too.
As an Aussie this was amazing
Being from Manchester in the UK, I was hella confused when it came up in this video 😂
We use a few of these words in Newfoundland Canada🙂♥️
we use most of this in nz
Jethrow. You are one of my favorites if not the favorite. I love your that your goofy!! Funny! and so cute! Funny thing is I didnt care for long hair blondes (my ex), but you are adorable in every way!!
Good on you for helping them learn more of the important stuff, mate :p
Hope you're all having a beautiful and safe day!(:
PS I guess some of these are not universal than I'd thought too hey
This was the best aussie slang vid I’ve ever seen 😂👏
A lot of these are used here in Scotland.
Gold, Tinny is also a can of beer
New Zealand uses a lot of these words/phrases as well
