Good question. A lot of people moving to Atl now because they’re being squeezed out of their own city from gentrification. After Atlanta and other cheaper cities.. what’s left?

I just don't understand how Gentrification is even POSSIBLE in a city as black as Atlanta and with as many black millionaires as Atlanta. I don't understand why all those millionaires can't combine finances and resources to come up with a way to combat Gentrification and build up certain neighborhoods themselves.
They stingy simple as that✅💯
@@BenBen-kh1dm , yeah, u got a point. But its just crazy when u look at the fact most of them come from those neighborhoods or neighborhoods similar. Makes no sense why they wouldn't want to go back to those neighborhoods and rebuild them themselves. If u have 2 million dollars to throw away on the newest Lamborghini and another million to throw away on a chain filled with diamonds, u have basically WASTED enough money to BUY a small neighborhood. Jermain Dupri himself said in an interview that was his biggest regret. He said if he would've bought property around Atlanta during the migration blacks were making there during the 90s, he would be a BILLIONAIRE by now. And obviously if u OWN that neighborhood u can call the shots.
@@dubz772 , huh??? Why WOULDN'T u combat someone trying to FORCE u out of a place u have lived all ur life???? Here in Birmingham we're seeing more and more of it. White folks move in and treat the black folks who have lived there all their lives like they're the enemy and don't belong there. If ur gonna move into someones neighborhood, add to it instead of treating the people who call it home like THEY'RE the OUTSIDERS.
@@dubz772 , u totally missed the point. Of course the ultimate point of Gentrification is to UP the property value. That's understandable. But u can do that WITHOUT throwing everyone in that community to the trash. U simply remove the riff raff, clamp down on crime, tighten up on property upkeep, tear down and rebuild dilapidated properties, etc, etc. I have seen it done. It doesn't always have to be "Move All The Black People Out & Move All The White People In".

I am not from Atlanta and I haven't heard this guy's other points but yall better listen to at least this. He just gave some jewels that I can guarantee most of the people in Atlanta do not know about in terms of real estate.
Where are all the “this my block ninjas”.

Priced out… now holding down a corner

We need more Tiny home communities in Atlanta that are gated of course. But now tiny homes are so high now.
Nobody wants to live in a doghouse.
if you have a set amount of apartments set aside for affordable housing but it’s not getting done that way. who is in charge of this
so this is how it works. Right now the little Westside neighborhoods like Vine City that surround Mercedes Bens all have an affordable property tax clause. When he becomes mayor again, he will do away with it and then people will have to sell because they cannot afford the rising property taxes. Kasim and Keisha did this in Summer Hill. It was done to the Eastside Street Car Suburbs. You force people out by making it to where they can't pay their property taxes and then your developer friends come through. Tell me that new park in Vine City was built for the children already there. Tell me that Westside Beltline Connector is built for the people already living there. Or was all that built to look good to the developers and the people who gonna move there as a result of this next gentrification. Please use your eyes and don't listen to corrupt politicians.
me trying to move to Ga & rent in low income in Atl & being told by HUD they’re being egregiously gentrified by the rich coming here buying it all up & those from here selling to the rich & bouncing - they’re losing rentals - folks are being grossly upheavaled, displaced & packed into food desserts & extremely dangerous places 😳💔
Other HUD’s don’t answer the phones, don’t return messages, don’t have a voicemail to leave a message… & their offices are closed to the public!
This Is Catastrophic!!!
I hope that he can make it better
I had no idea those apartments are supposed to set aside units for low to mid income people. It should be illegal for them to not list those prices!
This has been happening for years and it will continue to happen.. it’s all about money and it’s sad that affects so many people..
That's funny as hell, acting like Kasim ain't no criminal. 😂

IRONICALLY THE TRANSPARENCY OF THE AIRBNB BUSINESS MODEL WOULD BE A SOLUTION TO HOUSING DISCRIMINATION AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING
@Ash Hegde who said Airbnb was the problem?
As the former Mayor said...it takes private funds to participate in revitalization and protect long term residents long term interests. He also said “don’t sell”. Too many folk are selling for the quick cash. Black baby boomers are dying and their property and land is being sold far too often.
Read what you just wrote...how do you have zero net worth if selling earns you a quick 6 figures? Quick cash is cool and all but the wealth building stays with the house. You could still borrow money against the house and still keep the house. Once you sell it, the equity is gone forever. I preach to black/brown not to sell if you don’t have to. I personally know people who sold granny/grandpa house just to turn around and buy cars and other material things.
Don't sell? They going to in up with nothing! You ever heard of Eminent domain 🙋🏾♂️
They ran most renters out in the mid nineties. I left in '93
😂😭
Gentrification is great thing for the area...
Says the foreigner who isn't being pushed out of THEIR HOMES...FOH
@@badnewzscubasteve How are they being pushed out of homes?
Kasim 👍🏿 igbo
You should have asked him what is he prepared to do to get all the foreigners out of all neighborhoods Mom and pop stores and back in black store owners hands. Get the banks to work with people with little to no in come to open a business and there neighbor
Thats the real question
That’s how you bankrupt the system . Jesus Christ are all y’all this dumb. That’s what happened with the loans back in 2009 before the Great Recession. But don’t open a book or anything we wouldn’t want you all trying to get out of that whoa is me mentality.
What about the fire pension you took away mr reed?
I dont know what to do about the elderly mentally ill and homeless. However one thing is for sure. It's happening.
So instead of taking it sitting down how about looking at it as an opportunity to be forced to improve yourself.
Oh and stop with the bull excuse. I came from the same hoods and background and story.
Along with an extremely poor education and almost not graduating from high school and a learning disability that I still have.
No I ain't rich however I reached very high. Glory be to God. It's not the highest paying job in the world but it's a job that I dont have to worry about gentrification.
Like I said before I dont have all the answers. I'm just talking to the able minded and able bodied.

We ...NEED.. tiny homes that poor Americans can buy working $20/Hour or less! Tiny house structure [[plumbing and electric ]] should be affordable and durable for under $30,000, 1 year of work or less to pay off ♻️♻️♻️
YOU WHOLESALERS STOP SELLING OUT THE COMMUNITY AND BUY IN OR MAKE SURE YOU PARTNER WITH BLACK BUYERS
@Ash Hegde Wrong not every black community is ‘the hood ‘ but I’m not surprised you believe that
Comment of the year. Nobody is addressing the black wholesalers who are turning out every hood in America. People talk about “code” all the time. Real “code” would only be selling to people who look like you. Most people don’t know what/who a wholesaler is because they operate in anonymity for a reason. They aren’t proud of what they’re doing and what they’ve done to black communities. I’m not solely blaming wholesalers but history won’t tell a pretty story for what they’ve done. My company is based in Houston, TX. Check the record in who we sell to and how we’ve helped property values go up. There’s a way things can be done but people have to be committed.
@@gokoronkwo I live in Houston what’s the name of the company
What, are they gentrifying the men now? The city been going through gentrification
If y'all ain't from here don't come down here
If you dont own the neighborhood or street or anything having to do with taking over a area then be quiet
BBB Plan should be:
1. Livable wage permanent laws of $27/Hour and up for all Americans
2. UBI of $3,000/Month for life for the first $36,000/Per Year ( tax free )
3. Locked Down $400/Month per person price! No gouging or gentrification! Developing mostly single unit apartments since privacy is a human right!
4. All three of these points to eradicate poverty, homelessness, suffrage of Americans 📛📛📛
Gentrification developing? Developing has nothing to do with race.💲
