Wow what a star! I accidentally muted the video and watched her dance without any music and it was still spectacular performance! Her grace, musicality, sharpness, technique and projection really shone through! What a talent and miss her dancing so much!
Absolutely beautiful. It's so lovely to be reminded of what an amazing dancer Darcey was, as a professional. Lovely to have her share her knowledge now on 'Strictly'.
My heroine was Margot Fonteyn. Longed to be her while doing quite a good elephant impression in childhood ballet class. Darcy is an equal goddess for ballet crown. She is utterly gorgeous and talented.
You will always win our attention Darcey! Your joie de vivre, lucidity, acute observation, and sheer technical knowledge of dance and ballet make you The Ambassador for British ballet! ( "With these gifts Madame Ambassadeur , you are spoiling us!" to quote a well known phrase.
I remember the last performance ,i was just flicking through the chanels and she was on id never heard of her and never been into ballet but i watched her and was mesmerised by the beauty of her dance it was lovely
yes, she is considered to be quite special and very gifted both technically and artistically. Especially artistically. Also she started ballet very late which makes her success even more special.
She did say she was struggling as her body wasn't recovering as quickly as it used to. I guess when you're a mum as well, you don't want to be hobbling around after the kids in agony lol
I was at your final performance in Song of the Earth. You, Carlos and Gary Avis were a triumph. I struggled remembering those names today. A bit worrying but I remember the performance.
Sorry I don't have it, I've been looking for it. There is a documentary about Darcey Bussels life as a dancer which has sections of it (btw yes it was song of the earth)
saw this darling woman dance in the early eighties in sheffield , she was utter magic ,i always wanted to be a ballet dancer or play second violin with the halli xxxx where did i go wrong ?
The music might not be recorded live while she is dancing but added afterwards and therefore it won't be any sound uptake from the actual dance clip...
Oh man, shes utterly amazing! its my dream to become professional ever since i could walk i danced around and started at 7 years old but im never going to have the money to go to the royal ballet school :/
Jo Jo As a ballet dancer you are eased into doing en pointe however if you have not completely finished growing it can damage your feet seriously, but ballet feet are nasty anyway. That is why I do not wear sandals. Besides sandals would be improper.
People forget the attack and jump that Darcey had which is rare for english dancers. Most ballerinas barely leave the floor in the coupe jetes in this variation (apart from Darcey)!
The thing is, at a certain age they have to retire, even though it is quite young. Having performed in a ballet before, I noticed that a lot of the dancers were hardly 20 years old... I dance too, and I'm 12 :)
Je me pleins toujours de mes cuisses a mon gouts trop musclé pour la danse mais quand je vois ses jambes tout aussi musclé voir plus ça me rassure car en plus c'est une danseuse incroyable que j'admire beaucoup !
@oneill9875 Lol definitely... Check out Lucia Lacarra in Romeo and Juliet...Her whole body is just amazing but her feet and legs omg...also check out her white swan pas de deux...It's amazing
What a LOVELY lady - lucky husband! But ballet so damages the body with its perverse physical actions. Consequently I can never watch any ballet performance and feel entirely comfortable.
Well that was just delightful. A lovely distraction from what I'm suppose to be doing.

I really adore her. It makes me want to dance again. What a lovely dance!
Daamn, that woman can even do a pirouette in the air! I think it's even harder than jete! 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😯😯😯😯😯😯😪😪😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Absolutely beautiful. It's so lovely to be reminded of what an amazing dancer Darcey was, as a professional. Lovely to have her share her knowledge now on 'Strictly'.
One of the best « Étoiles » of romantic ballets. She was at the top of her game from beginning to end.
My heroine was Margot Fonteyn. Longed to be her while doing quite a good elephant impression in childhood ballet class. Darcy is an equal goddess for ballet crown. She is utterly gorgeous and talented.
Oh Lord!! She's incredible, she's amazing!!

What a very difficult variation and so well rendered.....I love you!

Stunning!
A lot of respect for the hard work and dedication here
She's absolutely stunning!!!!!
quand elle danse c'est juste magique
She's got the lot. Stunning girl, and such a lady. In a league of her own.
I grew up with her book series 'the magic ballerina', admired her so much since I was a child!!
She’s so graceful
No injury? If I were Darcy they'd have to MAKE me retire.
Kathy Myers Ballet is incredibly painful and puts so much strain on the body
She did say she was struggling as her body wasn't recovering as quickly as it used to. I guess when you're a mum as well, you don't want to be hobbling around after the kids in agony lol
Ballet is awesome! I love it!
She is absolutely amazing, I wish I could go to the royal ballet school in London, hmm one can dream :(
So insanely clean and flawless.
Beautiful! Interesting to have her dancing facing away from the seats/audience.
talent comes in many forms.

Just absolutely beautiful...
she wrote those kids books, right? i remember reading them when i was younger
I was at your final performance in Song of the Earth. You, Carlos and Gary Avis were a triumph. I struggled remembering those names today. A bit worrying but I remember the performance.
I've had them for nearly a year, and still make a load of noise....:)

She is my idol x
How beautiful!
this is a great clip but has anyone got a clip of the last dance she did - shown on tv which i think may be from the song of the earth?
Sorry I don't have it, I've been looking for it. There is a documentary about Darcey Bussels life as a dancer which has sections of it (btw yes it was song of the earth)

This video clip and Bussell’s comments afterwards are gorgeous. Do you have anymore?
OMG she’s amaze balls
So great, that Opera cares...
Darcey floats my boat
beautiful
love it!!
I’ve never understood how you can go onto the point of your toe like that and it not be terribly painful ??
Jo Jo it is terribly painful
Jo Jo

It IS terribly painful!! 😂😂
With the proper training and technique, it is tolerable! Also, it does not break the
line of the leg either! I never had any pain!
It’s only terribly painful if you forget to cut your toenails and that hurts bad but other than that it’s not too bad
@kompoish its probably freeds which have been altered to her feet - practically all professionals use freeds
*speechless*
A true inspiration for a girl like me:)
bravissima a ballare faccio anchio danza classica ho letto i tuoi libri sono stipendi
How she does that many turns I will never know. I nearly pass out after 14 chaines. I spot as well though!
Cinderella variation 2 act choreography by F. Ashton
Brilliant. Is there a full version
People forget the attack and jump that Darcey had which is rare for english dancers. Most ballerinas barely leave the floor in the coupe jetes in this variation (apart from Darcey)!
I have always wanted to meet her
Yes she is gifted! I think she was also lucky she was noticed young and made a star! But yes she is the Roger Federer of ballet, or was :)
Some people are made for ballet. Darcy was❤️
She is really good and looks pretty
The thing is, at a certain age they have to retire, even though it is quite young. Having performed in a ballet before, I noticed that a lot of the dancers were hardly 20 years old... I dance too, and I'm 12 :)
I miss ballet so much :"(
No, it's from Ashton's Cinderella.
Is this video part of a documentary? Pls do give more details!!!
Je me pleins toujours de mes cuisses a mon gouts trop musclé pour la danse mais quand je vois ses jambes tout aussi musclé voir plus ça me rassure car en plus c'est une danseuse incroyable que j'admire beaucoup !
yes is Ashton's Cinderella!
I luv ballet!!!!!!!!!!!!
HOW ARE HER POINTS NOT MAKING NOISE??? When I use mine I sound like a tap dancer!!
Suppose. Though you gotta admit, tap-shoe points are a nightmare
@EvanescenceROCKSS Yup its Cinderella
That was amazing i have trials for the royal ballet soon any tips anyone?
She´s got magic legs. How does she do it??? (I have tears in my eyes.)
Does anyone know the music? I just love it.
It is Prokoviev Cinderella, not sure which section though. Gorgeous music
Wow
You really shouldn't have retired I would like to be like that when I'm older because I dance and I'm 9.
I love ballet my sisters name is Darcey she says wants to be like u
@oneill9875 Lol definitely... Check out Lucia Lacarra in Romeo and Juliet...Her whole body is just amazing but her feet and legs omg...also check out her white swan pas de deux...It's amazing
