Meeting her at the Wigmore Hall after the recital was such pleasure to see a charming person with great smile ,a joy to music such valuable performer .Brava..
I never tire of her voice. The purity, brilliance of tone and perfection with which she sings not to mention the emotion... nobody has ever come close to matching her. Saw her live shortly before she passed. There wasn't a dry eye in the audience. Rarely can you find a singer who is both technically perfect and is able to move an audience like that. She was/is a legend and a true artist in every sense of the word.
I am very proud, Lucia Popp was born in Slovakia. Beautiful voice. Her Moonlight serenade from Dvorak s Rusalka is number one for me:) Greetings from Bratislava.
Some singers seem to sing along with the music whereas Ms Popp's voice floats in between and with the notes. I'm not even a musician, but find the interaction with and of the orchestra masterful. What pure beauty!
Thank you for posting this and helping to keep the great Lucia Popp alive. This is magnificent, exactly the Mozart sound for this absolute masterrpiece. I can't wait for her young heir apparent Patricia Janeckova to take on the Exsultate Jubilate.
Instead of ecclesiastical or classical Latin, it is a very nice, pure scholar Latin pronunciation. An unadulterated Mozart soprano! And in the finale, she strictly adheres to Mozart’s score so she doesn’t jump up to C6.
A true Goddess of all Mozart sopranos. It was a great pleasure for me to see her last concert in Bratislava live - she sang the soprano part of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.
I'm sorry, my memory is no longer fresh. I saw Beethoven Ninth with Lucia, conducted by Bernstein, live on Czech TV at that time (1990?) as part of the Prague Spring Music Festival. The performance with Lucia Popp (her last one in Bratislava) was conducted by Sir Yehudi (Brahms?). It was something like an Amnesty Intnl charity, and if I remember correctly, even Gidon Kremer performed that night.
This song always reminds me a movie, namely, "A girl and 100 men" I first saw sixty-some years ago. (I've just googled it to find the title was "One Hundred Men and a Girl." Big difference?) I am sure I saw it once again later after I knew who Stokowsky was and where that "Alleluja" came from. Somehow, this time, Lucia Popp reminds me that girl in the movie. I miss Lucia Popp, one of sopranos I liked, and I want to see the movie again. - one last timer, perhaps.
The much overused word fabulous has lost its true meaning these days, for those who don't know the true meaning just listen to Lucia. She is truly fabulous.
This is truly excellent. Lucia is greatly missed. Arleen Auger's followed by Regula Mulhermann's are also both stunning renditions of Mozart's beautiful motet composed in 1773.

ROFL
She was all right; Diana Dam4au wasa much better Königin der Nacht, she being native to our beautiful German.
@@wilhelmkramer2534 Then why are you here? Keep your heart in heaven and listen to what brings your spirit up, as Mozart asked us to.🙏
I agree. Rusalka is her master piece: best of the best. She was a true gift to us all.

A lively piece by Mozart sung by perhaps the finest soprano of all time. The cream on the pudding.
One of the best recordings from her of all times!!Lucia-her voice was born for Mozart!!!
Esatto! Bravissimo!!

Nice way to describe her ❤
What a wonderful rendition!
One of the greatest.

My most favourite music to listen to. It nourishes my soul.
My favourite performance of this!

A wonderful voice, full of warmth, spirit and joy. One of the greats of all time in my ears!

She was a wonderful singer, her death was a great loss! 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Is a great music of all the times
Forever Lucia!
Lucia is great and Mozart is greater! I am proud to be in the same race as him!
WHO ARE YOU?
A member of the human race like Mozart and you!
Hahaha... nothing with nothing 😝
Oh! I said something controversial! Oh! I am so sorry!
heavenly.
lovely!
Lucia had to be the best singer for this piece, and 16 years old for such work is beyond belief.
superb ! superb!
Interesting how she takes the melody down, not up, at the end. I never heard anyone else do that.
Sublime!
Thanks
WOW by no means an opera buff but so far this and kathleen Battle's version are the only two that don't sound somewhat cartoonish to me

Welch eıne Ueberaschung ! Lebst Du noch, oder schon gewesen ?
Jedenfalls warst mal hier auf mutterns Erde.
Beautiful rendering, but why doesn't Lucia hit the high note in "Alleluia"?
Pity someone had find fault,I wonder what she thinks of the screeching imposters being paraded as sopranos. Beginning with the main offender,Callas.
