great video, the subtitles make the difference to comparable videos. Amazing how well you know the city, from history to recommendable record stores, very informative
Wow! We had our own guided tour! Fantastic, thank you so much, you put so much work into it and I really appreciate it. I love architecture and seeing the modern buildings blending in where possible is wonderful to see. When I visit places I'm surprised I don't end up on my face on the ground as I'm always looking up at the architecture.
Wow, thank you so much for your kind words! 😊 I'm really glad you enjoyed the video-it means a lot to hear that the effort I put into it is appreciated. Architecture is fascinating, isn't it? I love how modern buildings can blend in so seamlessly with the older ones. And I totally get what you mean about always looking up when you visit new places! It’s amazing how much beauty is all around us if we just take the time to notice. Thanks again for watching and for your lovely comment!
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed the ride and found the subtitles helpful. It's awesome to know they made the experience feel like a guided tour through Berlin. 👍🏼 If you have any suggestions or places you'd like to explore next, feel free to let me know!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the tram cab ride and found it interesting. Your feedback means a lot to me, and I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I hope you continue to enjoy my future videos! 😊
Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! I'm thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the video. 😊 Berlin truly has an amazing tram network, and it's fantastic to experience the city from that perspective. I hope you stick around for more journeys through Berlin! Stay healthy and take care!
Marvellous! You manage to cram so much interesting information into a trip through one of my favourite cities. I just love the architectural variety there is to see in what is a relatively short journey. Thank you for your highly professional work from Scotland.
Thank you so much for your kind words! It makes me incredibly happy to hear that you enjoyed the journey and the information shared. I'm glad the architectural variety of the city caught your attention as well. Sending warm greetings all the way to Scotland!
Wieder eine tolle Mitfahrt. War in jedem Fall ein Wochenende. So leer auf den Straßen. Ist man ja fast gar nicht gewohnt. Vielen Dank. Ich freue mich auf mehr.
Wonderful video. Thank you for posting. What impresses me is the gentrification of Kastanien Alle. Back 20 years, when I was much younger and used to visit Berlin on regular base, the area was much different.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! It’s really interesting to hear about how Kastanienallee has changed over the years. Not every change is necessarily for the better, and it’s always a bit nostalgic to think back to how things used to be. Berlin is constantly evolving, for better or worse. I’m glad the video resonated with you, and I hope you’ll enjoy future ones as well! 😊🚋“
I lived in Berlin for many years until 1985 and was last there for one day. Apart from the S-Bahn station on Fiedrichstrasse, I hardly recognize anything. Everything looks like a different city and "stinks" of commercialism - at least in the city center. Thanks for the video. Now I know that I "don't have a suitcase left in Berlin"... "Man Berlin - wat haste dir verändert..."
I can completely understand where you're coming from! Berlin has changed so much, especially in the city center. It’s almost like a different city now, and yes, the commercialism is hard to miss. But at the same time, it's fascinating to see how Berlin keeps reinventing itself. I'm glad the video could give you a little glimpse of how things are today, even if it's not the Berlin you remember. "Man Berlin, wat haste dir verändert..."-that really sums it up perfectly. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!

21:41 By the way, in Germany the legal status of a subway system is like a tramway, also when it runs independently from the street traffic, as it is in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich and Nuremberg. The S-Bahn has some underground stations, but has the legal status of a railway.
13:05 On the left is the rail replacement bus, what starts there, because between the tram stop Stahlheimer Strasse and Virchow Klinikum there is no tram possible, they repair and restore the tracks on the tram stop Björnsonstr.
35:37 In the times of German division, the tram left Friedrichstrasse here, turned left and used another route to terminus. Today's solution is way better, the tram stop is closer to the railway station.
This is a very helpful video as we will be visiting Berlin soon and will be staying near the M12 route by Zionskirchplatz. I'm confused though as the BVG/ Jelbi app shows the M12 route continuing down Invalidenstrasse toward the Hauptbahnhof and not turning left on Chausseeestrasse. We were expecting to use the Tram M12 route to get to the train station. Am I misunderstanding something? Thanks!
Thank you for watching and for your comment! You are absolutely correct. The video was filmed a few weeks ago. Currently, the M12 is running to Hauptbahnhof due to construction work. There is supposed to be a replacement bus service to Am Kupfergraben. So, what your app shows is accurate. Unfortunately, I don’t know how long these measures will remain in place. I’d recommend checking the app and the BVG website regularly for updates. Best regards and welcome to Berlin! :)
14:54 Normaly, the M13 would also turn right, but at the moment it changes to M2 and goes to Alexanderplatz and terminates close to the railway station.
For me that have been in Berlin several times since the 70th, Friedrichstrasse was the only place that we tourists could walk into East Berlin. 5 D-Mark for visa, 25 D-Mark that you must change, you could not take them back to West Berlin, everything was cheap in EastBerlin.
Berlin has indeed changed a lot over the years-some things are better gone, but others we still miss. Friedrichstraße was such a symbolic place, especially for visitors like you, offering a glimpse into East Berlin during those times. The visa and currency exchange rules are memories that many people share, and they really highlight how different life was back then. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us! 😊

I know it would be clearer if I was there in person, but was the cyclist too close to the tram, even while being in the cyclist lane? Was it a precaution for in case the cyclist accidentally fell to the left into the tram path?
Thanks for watching and for your comment! Exactly, there wouldn’t have been enough space between the cyclist and the tram. Even if the cyclist had to swerve to avoid an obstacle, it could become dangerous. So it's safer to stay behind them, or like in this case, the cyclist makes room and lets us pass.
39:54 Pergamon museum with an altar, what the bible calls "Satan's Throne". But when people rather believe anything, as long it isn't written in the bible, they doesn't see the Pergamon altar as dangerous.
