That's what makes it so sad really, because even if your principles don't want you going anywhere near fast fashion, you end up having no choice anyway.
Exactly!! Don't blame economic issues on the middle/lower class, it's the capitalist system that needs to change not individuals that have no choice. Don't feel bad for that
“I’m too cheap to buy cheap stuff” is the moto my dad lives by and taught me and while I agree with this statement and I have the means to afford nicer things, I don’t think we should shame people that buy cheaper items. Ultimately not everyone can afford $128 leggings made from water bottles and that’s why these companies like shein have been able to survive for so long- because some people need a cheaper option
Wow I love that saying by your dad. It’s true. People deserve to be happy. Some people love fashion, but can’t afford a $100 shirt. Yeah some could buy one but why would I want to spend $100 on a SINGLE item when I can get so much more.
Agreed. I do not believe big companies saying how well they treat their workers when they are trying to reduce costs by paying less and less for wages. Most of them manufacture their products in 3rd world countries...wonder why 😅. So I always try and buy products Made in ...my country...to support local businesses and economy - not in great shape anyway.
I don't get it. The point of this video was to highlight how unethical a company shein is and to discourage the purchase of fast fashion. Yet you spent the majority of the video reviewing shein clothing and (in some cases) being complimentary of the clothes. So which is it? Do you like shein or not? It seems to me that the best way to move people towards sustainable fashion is to not give attention to these cheap brands. I think you just used the title to get clicks/views because now it's popular to hate on fast fashion.
@@avaleahy7369 but that's exactly my point she was complimentary of some of it. However, the video is titled 'why I hate shein' and she begins by criticising fast fashion and encouraging people to buy sustainable clothing instead. Reviewing sheins clothing and giving them exposure is contradictory to this point. Whether some of sheins clothing is nice or not is irrelevant - it's all fast fashion at the end of the day.
Dawn M ikr dis girl do be confusing me, I’m like🤨🧐🤔 She even pointed out that somethings look like they have a stolen design then moved on real quick like she doesn’t even care and said she’ll buy from shein again even tho it’s shit, like wtf 😡
Exactly. I love this channel but I’m the beginning when she said “ I hate buying cheap clothes” but then proceeded to say we should shame people from buying Walmart etc but it’s kinda like she’s shading people who buy from shein. Me personally I shop and shein and romwe because it’s what I can afford and their clothes are actually really cute
Also fashion nova has cute clothes but they’re expensive. I just ordered 2 pairs of pants and a shirt from there and the total was like 130$ but it was 50%, which is the only reason I ordered from there. It with that just about 70$ that I spent I could’ve gotten so much more on shein for that price. J could’ve got a couple pairs of shirts and some pants for that price
I have never had a problem with SHEIN’s clothes, returns process or them dispatching the orders late. Sometimes I look at their clothes and wonder how they produced them for the price. Don't forget that many high-end designers have their clothes made in China and increase the price because of the name.
I love SHEIN clothes. Just got a huge order yesterday. Love all my leggings and jeans. I also got a couple tops that I’m not crazy about. I am working on another order.
@@robynbaynton14 Yesterday was the first order where they sent a box. 🤣 My stuff usually comes in plastic bags, but I ordered so much this time, I needed a box! But I recently lost a TON of weight and went from an XL to a M (although even the mediums are a bit big and I may need to move down to small) and literally had to buy an entire new wardrobe. Shein has made that a lot more affordable. I'm also planning my outfit for the Eras Tour and I'm really indecisive, so I was able to buy 3 or 4 different outfits for very little money. I think one top was $5, so if I don't end up wearing it, it's no big deal.
@@Kristine_202 yesterday was spring cleaning and laundry day, my god what a day! My closet could not hold another piece of clothing. My dressers are full as well. But I’m still working on another order!??
Some of the comments are saying that she hates SHEIN, but then does a haul. I think she is saying to not promote it if you can afford non fast fashion, but she's also showing people that they can create outfits on a limited budget. She's catering to both sides.
There is no in between, you either support them or you don't. This girl, who I assume has enough money to not buy from shein at the very least, is doing just that and is supporting a company that uses and abuses their workers (some of which are children even) and straight up copies the designs other people have made without giving credit or paying the original designers. She has an idea of how bad it is to support shein, yet she makes this video showing off the clothes she bought there while naming the video "why I hate shein". This is ridiculous.
@@byefido I’m confused? Why are you calling her out for supposedly “Hating Shein.” If you hate it yourself? Shes just saying if you can afford non fast fashion your better off not purchasing it because you can get better quality items. She’s not HATING on shein either for the full part atleast, she’s showing you how to make outfits on a affordable budget ( like the person said. ) I don’t even get it wether you don’t like it or not. Shein is fast fashion, and gives a lot of people confidence on style, even when they have a low budget. Shein is very convenient if you ask me, even if they don’t have the BEST quality items.
*"if you buy cheaply, you buy twice."* That is what my great grandmother taught me. She was a survivor of two world wars in Germany and therefore went through some really rough time financially and materialistically. PS I learned that from her via my father. She died a long time before I was born but her philosophy stuck with my father and now me. Good quality things just last longer and need replacement seldomly, if ever.
lmao I've been wearing like 5$ clothes for 2 years now, and it definitely lasts and I've worn it like 2-3 times a week for 2 years. Someones ppl just cant afford expensive clothing and that shouldn't stop us from getting clothes we want. I only buy clothes once a year on my birthdays
@@Bluesky-lo3zr totally, same. This people think that us buying cheap clothes means that we need to replace them like at least twice a year. I make my cheap shirts and jeans last like 4 or 5 years, depending on how often I wear them and with jeans even when they start looking old I keep wearing them as homewear.
Personally as a plus size women I am a fan of Shein. I don’t plan on being this size forever so it’s nice to buy cheaper clothes in larger sizes. Of course loosing weight for me is easier said than done but still it makes me feel better buying the clothes at lower prices in this scenario. Also it’s nice finding more trendy clothes in my size.
Just wanted to say I appreciate you for not shaming people who can’t afford to buy anything more expensive than shein. I’m a full time student living on my own on a salary of 8.37 an hour and shein has delivered some good work clothes for me.
Yesss!! I live in a third world country, I literally make less than 130 USD a month! I try to thrift as much as I can, but sometimes there's a really specific article that I can't find anywhere so I need to resort shein :(
@@Abicatxoxo haha i wish it was 8 USD an hour. it's more like 1.25 hasbahsbha it's called living in brazil sweetie, our currency is worth way less than dollars, euros etc. plus i only work part time
This is why I shop thrift stores. Some are expensive, but i normally go to the salvation army or goodwill. I feel happy knowing that none of the big name brand clothing companies are actually getting my money. I normally disagree with their treatment of sweatshop workers or their ethical message sometimes.
The worst part about the clothes themselves is the material. You can always feel its cheap, and when i only bought from SHEIN i didn’t notice it. But when i bought from a bit more expensive but better companies i noticed how cheap and bad the fabric was on the SHEIN clothes when i compared the two.
I have this top I wear all the time from a year ago. There's not enough talk about taking care of fast fashion clothing so it'll last in sustainability.
I try to get higher end brands at thrift stores, and here in England it definitely not the chesp option anymore but I have got some absolute bargains. The only time I go to primark is for the vests and shorts that I sleep on.
Hold on she’s still doing a video to make money off this company and advertising for them the very first outfit “this outfits a win”. Put your money where your mouth is, Hope! If you hate this brand and you think it’s not good for the planet (it’s not) or its employees (it’s not) - don’t advertise for them with a video (even if it’s not sponsored) and don’t buy from them!! Just saying you don’t like it doesn’t make you part of the solution if you’re still buying it and doing a video!!!
@@racheloakland8782 Yes! Thank you. this entire video feels like a money grab to me. Its fake. If you really hate the company then why order from them. Makes no damn sense.
I mostly thrift shop, but agree with her Id rather buy one expensive item than multiple cheep items that fall apart after one wash (I unfortunately can't go without washing my clothing.)
Her: I hate shein so much Her: this is rlly cute. The fabric is rlly good. I rlly like this. Very light weight. This is so pretty. Not bad. Like do u like or not
@@alyssabrown6480 False, maybe in your experiences, shein is one of very few i literally ALWAYS had good experiences with up until now. Just bcs some clothes are bad doesnt mean all are. Throughout the last 2 years i only bought from shein and the material was 99% (out of anything i bought from there) GOOD. NEVER worse than forever21. Everytime i bought anything on there were btw not only 1-2 pieces , if i buy i always buy a little bit more, so IF i buy on there its at last 8-15 pieces of clothes + since i bought a lot the last 2 years on there i see how it worked for me, and yes MOST of the clothes was very good. While out of ALL things i bought there were maybe 4-5 pieces who were not that good. Which is why i said 99% , since i bought at least 100 pieces up until now. And i do not buy from online stores if the material isnt very good or good enough. Dont give out info and speak for the whole store, when its simply only your own experience or u heard/seen it from some people, this is simply not the case for the whole online store. Shein has bad AND good clothes , there is no ''its all horrible'' or ''its all good''.
Binging old horoscopes, but I wanted to say: It is so irritating to see all these comments that say something to the effect of, "YOU SAID YOU HATE THEM THEN REVIEWED THEIR STUFF!" after Hope really thoughtfully explained her stance on the company's business practices, brought up the changes they are saying they are making, and then also addressed how much of her audience, especially subscribers that have been here the longest, cannot afford something that is more expensive, and that she wants to review things that her viewers might actually be able to buy. She also explains how, though she understands not everyone can afford the things she can, that she personally prefers to safe her money and buy ethical/higher end things.
I’ve been getting stuff from shein for years because well I’m poor. Their clothes and items are actually cute and all of the stuff I’ve got lasted for over a year! Sooooo yes it’s bad but if you’re poor it’s good
I love my Shein clothes! Just be careful to read reviews regarding the fabric type so you avoid the “cheaper” materials. Also, my clothes have lasted years lol
I think my view is that a video is inherently promotion. I get it that people are broke, honestly so am I, and the market just doesn’t support lower cost garments made ethically right now. They do if you’re middle class and just buy less, but if you’re really REALLY broke? You’re kind of stuck. So I try not to judge people who buy the stuff because I don’t know their finances. What I do get a bit miffed about is the videos. I love your channel and I know people are putting you in a tough spot here, but if you could do more ethical clothing brands I’d definitely support that shift in your content
I have been doing more thrift (obviously mostly online thrift places lately) and they definitely don't get as many views haha but I have a lot of fun doing them and feel MUCH better about those purchases ☺️
@Ellis Island I appreciate this comment. Clothing hauls are one of my favorite type of videos, but I always feel judged when I read the comments..... I'm one who can't afford ethically made clothing, if could I would. I do enjoy thrifting and do that from time to time, and to me that's better than nothing.
Vintage.Heart_ I don’t know if you’re interested in sewing but moving toward altering thrifted clothes or making clothing out of thrifted material (like bedsheets and curtains) has really helped me move away from fast fashion!
i know rhis is a joke but the point of this vid was not saying that shein isnt cute its that its fast fashion and shedoesnt likefast fasion that doesnt mean the clothes arnt cute
The problem is these clothes are priced what they're worth. No way a pair of jeans are ever worth $200! We shouldn't allow these companies to set the price. I buy clothes based on what they're really worth for me. SheIn is what the prices should be to begin with.
Exactly, the prices of bigger brands being higher doesn't mean they pay the tailors a whole lot. It's just the brand name and sometimes quality of fabric that makes the difference.
Sadly, this is not true. We have become used to underpaying for clothing as a society because of the availability of cheap items made with exploitative labor. Something like a pair of denim jeans would cost around $100 if the people making then were paid US minimum wage, and the profit margin was not excessive. Anything less than that, you can assume underpays for labor.
When you think of everything that goes into making a product, Shein prices are low. There's material for the clothing item, labor, overhead cost (rent/bills, ink for printers, etc). I highly recommend watching The True Cost - a documentary about the fashion industry. It is free to watch on UA-cam and completely changed the way I shop.
I have some Gymshark and alphalete leggings that I’ve worn/washed upwards of 60-75 times and they still hold up! The alphalete ones will probably need to be retired pretty soon, but the GS ones still seem like new.
I would rather have 5 pairs of higher quality pairs of leggings that after 20 washes look brand new as opposed to 20 pairs of leggings that will fall apart within 10 wears.
Exactly. And if you get them in non-flashy patterns and colors, they will last for YEARS. You can get great deals on Lululemon leggings on Poshmark so you don't even have to pay full price.
@@heycataloochee3964 Colorful Koala is pretty great quality for the price. But we are supporting terrible labor conditions when we buy them so I guess you have to decide if that's worth the price and/or how important ethics are to you idk.
jojessica Unfortunately, this is an industry wide problem. “More expensive” companies like Nike, Bowflex, and LULULEMON have all been accused of poor labor practices as well. It’s an extremely common problem in the athletics industry.
I've found it infuriating how influencers have kept peddling Shein, Zaful and all the others..these things are made in sweat shops in dreadful conditions which is why the quality is so bad. We just had an outbreak of COVID in the UK from a factory that was making clothes for Boohoo and the horrendous conditions people were working in were uncovered - all crammed in together when we were in lockdown. How do people think this stuff is so cheap!
Whilst I 100% agree with you, you’ve got to think of the workers. Without the fast fashion industry, these workers wouldn’t have jobs therefore no income (I know they don’t earn much). But I do agree with the fact that their conditions are poor and they are overworked
These people being desperate enough to work in those conditions reminds me of the Triangle Shirtwaist factory. This realization is hitting me like a ton of bricks. It’s so sad. Just because they need the money, doesn’t mean the conditions are okay.
let's not forget that it isn't just affordable clothes that have sweatshops, a lot of high end brands with high end prices also treat their factory workers like shit.
I’m a single mom. I’m 25. And I just found your channel. And I respect so much how honest and up front uou are about how you go about buying what you personally like. I also prefer saving the money I can and buying higher end items that I know I can absolutely get more than a couple wears out of. I’m so happy I found this channel and I know you most likely won’t see this because you posted this ten months ago but I promise I’m following and binging till I’m up to date. I just want to like and comment on all that I can. Yay!
After working in retail for over 10 years I have found that there are ways to buy "good clothes" at the fast fashion prices, even as a plus size girl. First, always shop off season. I mean buy your bathing suit in October, buy your winter gear in june or july. It makes an huge difference in price. Second, do not be afraid of second hand items. ThredUp is great but also your local thrift store. Just shop around and sometimes you can find gems. Third, be aware of when your local stores do clearance markdowns. That's the day to go shopping, before it's obvious clearance you can find some amazing things on sale. Never pay full price, a deal can always be found
We all like cheaper stuff when we’re broke teenagers or college aged kids and then we get spoiled by a boujee brand or gift and find a QUALITY piece and learn the difference between cheap and inexpensive or quality/premium/expensive. I personally dont mind a more expensive brand or item when i perceive it as an investment or buying for quality because you know itll last. Thats why i love lululemon. I bought my first all the right places, off your rec, and they lasted YEARSSSS
When I shop SHEIN I make a point to avoid fast fashion styles and find pieces that are more classic but affordable. I’ve had some decent luck with things and have had them for a few years. And I always look at the reviews (with pictures)…always!!! Now for my 12yo who is still growing but wants something trendy I can’t beat some of the deals I’ve found for her.
@@omni_maddie4207 hey i was chillin, wasn’t tryna be mean or anything. It was just a bit of rhetoric question to point out the painful fact that there obviouslyyyyy are many people out there who don’t always fit perfectly into all clothes (of any brand). If she was confused, then kindly see it as me just trying to help her stay informed. 🙏🏼
I hate them because they treat their workers very poorly. We even had a project in school on how bad the company has effected the environment and so on. And i love you 4 addressing this ❤
THANK YOU for highlighting such a huge issue in the fashion industry!! i found you thru cheap clothing hauls years ago, but i’m glad you’ve turned away from doing them- i am also hyper-aware of the effects of fast fashion. i love u thanks for using ur platform for good!!
I actually really like this video and the message it puts out. I feel kinda bad for all the hate comments on here. I have never bought something from them but with everything you can find online it is a very problematic company to say the least. Thank you for always being so transparant. Thrifting a quality piece >>>>> buying from Shein. I love you more for not letting them sponsor you.
Thank you for this. I spend my money on small brands that are ethical and sustainable and have good ownership. However!!!!! EXTREMELY important to talk about how classist that is. MANY people cannot afford those items. There is zero reason to shame those people it is so harmful. Thanks for mentioning this
I'm glad we're finally holding brands accountable. American Eagle has started making big changes to sustainability and I hope they follow suit with working conditions as well. Shein is shrouded in a lot of mystery, so I will not purchase from them. I hold off on purchasing an item until it's on a great sale or clearance from sustainable brands rather than using fast fashion. One thing that makes it tough to shop as someone who is a size Large or XL is that some sustainable brands will sell XXS but not XL or XXL (Alo Yoga for instance, though they aren't that great on sustainability) or the Large sizing is way smaller than any other brand. I think it's nice to have fast-fashion priced options for people who need something quick and cheap for an interview or event, but I hope we keep demanding better working conditions and sustainability for all shapes and sizes!
The key to sustainable clothing is to always ask yourself "Does this clothing piece have a 5 year plan." aka will I wear this clothing item 5 years from now, 10 years from now if you're a real visionary!
I’m a month from 20 and still wear things I owned when I was 11 because I bought clothes way too big back then 🤣🤣 lucky for me now though because I’ve gotten almost 10 years worth it! My favorite black v-neck I’ve had since 6th grade!
@@mollieglad that's awesome!! I also still wear a few clothing items (like Levi shorts and graphic tees) but from my senior year of hs. That was exactly 10 years ago 😭👵. I love when clothes stand the test of time❤
@@iamkiaranicolee because the topic here is sustainable clothing. So the goal in sustainability is to create the least amount of waste. As an adult (an adolescent might find this more difficult) my clothing size doesn't change too much (give or take a few lbs 😅) and you shouldn't be following fads or trends (if your goal is sustainability) so styles shouldn't fluctuate either. ✌❤.
yes for sure!!! i just spent 60 dollars on some lulu shorts which i’ll wear over and over again, rather than buying 6 pairs of 10 dollar shorts which a.) probably aren’t the best quality and won’t last long and b.) probably are made by underage/underpaid workers. i’m glad you brought this up!
You won't regret it. I still have 10 year old running shorts from lululemon that I bought more than a decade ago. The only thing that I don't like is the phone pocket is a little small for today's phones.
I still wear the first lulu piece I ever bought which was in 2013. I swear the bulk of my lululemon clothes are from 2014-2016 and I’m still wearing all of them but 2 I just retired 😂😂
Only because the clothes are more expansive, doesn't mean the workers get more money, they still work under terrible conditions, when you have the money to buy from lululemon, you have the money to buy fair produced clothes...
She’s like, oh I don’t know if this blue top is something I would wear 20 seconds later… this is so cute and definitely something I would wear I think we’ve found a win!
thank you for speaking on this! i understand that a lot of people can’t afford to shop sustainably but i think it’s the responsibility of people who can to do so! thank you for making that effort 💖
Shein is my go-to for affordable everyday clothes. Sizes and quality are a bit of a hit-or-miss especially that I am short and curvy so it’s a mission to buy clothes online especially from places I have not bought clothes from before but with Shein, I still like it altogether.
Man! That sucks... maybe you guys should all bombard them with emails, messages and phone calls. Tell them you’ll start making videos about how they don’t return your money! Cause that’s bull... I really hope you all get your money back! Cause let’s face it... wether it’s 30-100 dollars... it’s still a lot of money for some people. They need to give it back.
I actually LOVE Shein! I shop there for most of my clothes, although I hate how long it takes for it to get here. I shop between the regular clothing sizes and their plus size clothing because I fit certain fabrics normally but not others. But, I do understand not liking them because of their morals and the way they treat their customers. I’ve never had any of their clothing give out on me. I’ve had some clothing rip that I really knew better before buying because it wouldn’t fit me but it was cute and I wanted to wear it and I was sad. But I guess I can definitely see people not liking it for some reasons.
I wear XS/S but I have noticed that Shein has A LOT of great looking plus size clothing. Personally I love it and so far I have not been disappointed by the quality. In the end this is often the same stuff we buy from other brands who produce/import from China and then put a bigger price tag on it. (btw., shipping is pretty fast to Germany. Usually takes around a week, max 10 days).
I just wanted to say that supporting fast fashion when you’re broke is never the best answer. Goodwills and Salvation Army’s are expensive but small mom and pop thrift stores aren’t and there’s a whole community on Instagram of resellers who sell for really good prices and because everything’s second hand, it’s sustainable.
I'm in apparel design, coming from a costuming background, and I've been studying sustainability in fashion, and it's just ridiculous how bad it is. Millions and millions of tons of clothes in the landfills every year. The wasteful production process and the "natural and sustainable" companies who may have great fabrics, but their shipping process uses waaaaay too much plastic is just discouraging. Clothes used to be made with good materials, with quality stitching and would last years upon years. You would have one or two dresses you would wear; 1950sish and beyond became more materialistic. I just don't understand how some people, especially the companies, see this as good. I get the world seems to be run by money, but if this keeps up, the world won't be around anymore. :(
I love SHEIN I think they have the cutest clothes for a really good price I order at least once a week and I wear all the clothes I get and use all the items
I also have a lot of clothes from shein and they’ve lasted a good amount of time! And it’s pretty good quality also. I’ve never had any problems with their customer service either. I’m pretty satisfied with everything I’ve bought from them .
I know this video is from 2 years ago, but I felt compelled to leave a comment and say this .... A lot of people cannot really afford high end clothes.... Hence the need for fashion nova, sheIn etc........ Of course they know that they are not the best quality but this is what they can afford and If they look cute, presentable, sexy and confident that is all that matters
I got a ruffle body con dress from shein and it was supposed to be a bit loose and sparkly and it was a tight see through dress but I also got heels and best quality shoes ever and the pacing was even boogie lol
Yes! Thank you for talking about this! Boycotting fast fashion is definitely a privilege so it’s important not to see clothes as single use and choose items we will use for years! 👏🏼
I actually just ordered a couple things from shein curve. Got lots of parties to go to and I was surprisingly pleased! I think reading the reviews help with sizing and purchasing things that look good on your body. I would order again for sure.
I ordered from Shein too but that was before I knew that the working conditions were horrible for workers and they have unethical manufacturing processes. It seems great at first but its really, really bad for the environment.
Thank you for calling out fast fashion. I am the same way I like higher quality more sustainable things that I love. The girlfriend colldctive bras are my favorite. I am a college student so I rarely can buy those things, but I only do it when something is worn.
Hey, I worked at a SHEIN warehouse for a couple months, if the swimwear is in that pink palm tree bag.... Its a return that has been redistributed, people rarely check them so check for "mysterious stains" normal clothes will come in either a clear sealed bag or the barcode won't have a black border around it, they are also returns
It’s a hard situation as as a student these are affordable clothing, and even in the uk, although we have charity shops, there clothes can be just as expensive as something brand new and ‘in trend’ with shein however I do appreciate the fact you don’t want to partner with them or actively promote them as it does decrease the audience that will go to the site. 💜
I have recently come across your YT channel. I have to tell you that I have been scammed by Chinese companies when I purchased their products. I have finally decided I refuse to buy from any company that photoshops their clothes. The sizes are so totally wrong, and I being an XXL, 22-24, the clothes just run small. Grrr. I appreciate your sharing your shopping experiences!
This just show me that money doesn’t buy taste. I bought 10$ dresses from Forever 21 and dressed them for over 3 years because I took well care of them. Also just because something is expensive doesn’t mean it’s durable.
So true. I have several Anime print shirts that I bought about 9 years ago from Gamestop (and another store I can't remember the name of) and they're still going strong save for pin prick holes in the armpit and the print looking a tiny bit faded. 😅
Durability and price comes with good quality materials. Polyester is never a good option, I cannot comprehend why people don't stop buying >20% polyester clothes. You sweat more and stink worse, it's uncomfortable and non breathable. Linen, cotton, viskose, bamboo and hemp is the future for clothing and our planet
Hi Hope! I'd really like to see a review for Athleta's leggings and tops. I feel like not a lot of people do them and when they have sales the leggings are SUPER affordable like their $98 leggings go down to $30! They're also a certified B Corp which means they're more sustainable like Patagonia. When they go on sale I'm always going back and forth whether to get them or not and if they're as good as my Lulus
I've noticed a lot of people don't do Athleta activewear either but I love them! They have a variety of leggings fabrics and I haven't tried their tops but their sports bras are amazing bc they have sizing for A-C cups then D+ cups. Oh ya and when they go on sale, they're a good sale!
I'm so glad you're shifting away from the massive cheap hauls. The textile industry is so destructive. People need to become more comfortable with thrifting, because you can get great stuff for shein prices. I have a handful of Lululemons I got from posh for like $20. You just have to hunt for them. And at this point, even if I like something that's cheap, it just makes it all the worse when it falls apart in a few wears.
Ive bought clothes(also my wedding dress) from SHEIN, still have them after several years and I wash and wear them several times a month/week. You just gotta read reviews and look at peoples pictures, also if people stopped using Softener when washing clothes would last longer, I stopped using it after I saw clothes getting destroyed and now my clothes last for at least 10 years 😂
Speaking of ethical/environmentally friendlier, Girlfriend Collective just came out with a new seamless Float collection. Looks like it's supposed to be an alternative to Lulu aligns. Would you please review it? 😊
I was watching this video and you said something like ‘if you know where to look’… THEN I GOT AN AD THAT WAS LIKE ‘iM mAkInG wAfFlEs’ i almost burst out laughing.
this video: starts the video complaining about shein, then buys a bunch of stuff, says that it feels cheap, tries it on and says "actually this is really cute"
Which are all true...are they not? She acknowledges that there are people who can only afford to buy shein, and it's for them she's showing some cute finds, instead of looking down on them. Were you expecting her to hate on shein designs so that you get yet another opportunity to bash her for being a rich snob? Sometimes yall just make it a goal to find a problem.
Hope, I need cheapie clothes right now. I’m looking to lose 100lbs total. So, I’m not going to buy expensive clothes right now especially when I’ve only lost 20lbs so far. The cheapies and big sale items are the only clothes I look at right now so I really appreciate videos like this to know what to buy.
It’s good to avoid following fashion trends. Many people who can’t afford ethical/sustainable brands turn to Shein because they feel pressured to follow trends they can’t otherwise afford. We should all aspire to find a style we like and stick to it for as long as we can instead of trying to follow trends
Gia Berry I know!!! They really do and for cheap prices, but they use child labor, the quality of their products are not always the best, also they have been accused of stealing information😳
Some of us are poor so these cheap clothes that are actually stylish help us a lot, not everyone can afford yolls levels.
That's what makes it so sad really, because even if your principles don't want you going anywhere near fast fashion, you end up having no choice anyway.

Exactly sometimes I just want cute clothes for a good price because that’s what I can afford
The water bottle legging part made me laugh 😂 but yes I totally agree !
i get where your coming from but i dont think she "cheap shamed" she understood people sometimes cant afford good quality brands x
Wow I love that saying by your dad. It’s true. People deserve to be happy. Some people love fashion, but can’t afford a $100 shirt. Yeah some could buy one but why would I want to spend $100 on a SINGLE item when I can get so much more.
Thrifting is a thing
1:02 Yes, almost all companies like this are lying about their sustainability and ethics. It's called greenwashing :(
EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT
she never said all their clothes were terrible, and she bought them to show us the clothes and which ones she likes or doesnt like
@@avaleahy7369 but that's exactly my point she was complimentary of some of it.

It with that just about 70$ that I spent I could’ve gotten so much more on shein for that price. J could’ve got a couple pairs of shirts and some pants for that price

@@robynbaynton14 Yesterday was the first order where they sent a box. 🤣 My stuff usually comes in plastic bags, but I ordered so much this time, I needed a box! Shein has made that a lot more affordable.
I'm also planning my outfit for the Eras Tour and I'm really indecisive, so I was able to buy 3 or 4 different outfits for very little money. I think one top was $5, so if I don't end up wearing it, it's no big deal.

It’s an investment, back in my day people reused their clothes. Quality costs, some clothing I still use to this day.
Also - crop that butterfly short to get rid of the weird saying! Bet that would be cute.
Places like gym shark are still fast fashion it just costs more. It’s not intended to be worn long term because it’s so trendy.
I have some Gymshark and alphalete leggings that I’ve worn/washed upwards of 60-75 times and they still hold up! The alphalete ones will probably need to be retired pretty soon, but the GS ones still seem like new.
Gym shark is not fast fashion lol
I would rather have 5 pairs of higher quality pairs of leggings that after 20 washes look brand new as opposed to 20 pairs of leggings that will fall apart within 10 wears.
Exactly. And if you get them in non-flashy patterns and colors, they will last for YEARS. You can get great deals on Lululemon leggings on Poshmark so you don't even have to pay full price.
Especially if the cheap ones are SEE THROUGH to begin with

Ruby Hatcher too bad since COVID they haven’t been paid at all because these websites are not paying for their orders
Yeah the clothes are supposed to be affordable and that's why this happens
These people being desperate enough to work in those conditions reminds me of the Triangle Shirtwaist factory. This realization is hitting me like a ton of bricks. It’s so sad. Just because they need the money, doesn’t mean the conditions are okay.
let's not forget that it isn't just affordable clothes that have sweatshops, a lot of high end brands with high end prices also treat their factory workers like shit.

Meh I’ve bought clothes for $100 that barely lasted a couple washes

Finally

YOUR HAIR IS BEAUTIFUL !!
I ordered from Shein and had the return the products and never got my $50 back 😡
Oh no!!! Im going to try to return a bunch of it too 😖
Same here! Waiting for my $85 refund :(
It's taking 45 days for returns now. That's how long mine took.
If they don’t give your money back, make a dispute with your bank! I have done this before and got my money back within a couple of days.
That blue is your color!!
7:20 that looks like BLACKPINK Jennie's one of channel show's top it is ICONIC I really wanted something like that you're so lucky gurl
I just ordered clothes they say it will come oct 27 does it take longer then that?
Jamilet Perez haha same I just ordered some clothes too and it’s said to come on the 27th but for me it usually comes a few days before that.
@Janiya Gowdy We're talking about America here though, there are thrift stores everywhere here.
Thrift stores in moderately dense cities are hiking up their prices because it's a sport now. If you live in smaller towns, this is a good option.
We don’t rlly have thriftstores where i live, only true vintage stores and theyre all like 60+ euros soo..
What if you dont have those stores in your country ?
Exactly. And besides shein crap falls apart after few wears ..so if you're broke then you just end up wasting the money you don't already have
I love SHEIN! But I understand not everyone feels the same!
Have a nice a day!!❤️
I'm in apparel design, coming from a costuming background, and I've been studying sustainability in fashion, and it's just ridiculous how bad it is. :(
The title “THIS IS WHY I HATE SHEIN”
In the video “this is super cute 🥰”
Like sis you like it or not??
I love SHEIN I think they have the cutest clothes for a really good price I order at least once a week and I wear all the clothes I get and use all the items
@Janiya Gowdy I've had shein clothes from last year and they've lasted pretty good so far.
@@laibajubbein8745 when you wash them those the color stay?
I also have a lot of clothes from shein and they’ve lasted a good amount of time! And it’s pretty good quality also. I’ve never had any problems with their customer service either. I’m pretty satisfied with everything I’ve bought from them .
@@gracielaaabrego3875 how much time

Me, just dropped $90 on shien: 👁👄👁
so did you like the stuff? lol
Sameee
Its so easy to do this , everything is cheap but it adds up
i like shein a lot! but like for some reason everything added up together like came up to $700??
@@hi-gg5kg like i bought some things from Shein and i rly like them..
The first outfit that you where In reminded me of a mean girls outfit 😂
I know this video is from 2 years ago, but I felt compelled to leave a comment and say this .... A lot of people cannot really afford high end clothes.... Hence the need for fashion nova, sheIn etc........ Of course they know that they are not the best quality but this is what they can afford and If they look cute, presentable, sexy and confident that is all that matters
Ya sameee

I got into binge watching you recently and watch you a lot for your personality. I also love how you’ve grown into your more natural look. 😊
Yess!! So true ❤️
SHEIN is amazing! I love it
I ordered from Shein too but that was before I knew that the working conditions were horrible for workers and they have unethical manufacturing processes. It seems great at first but its really, really bad for the environment.
you are my FAVORITE channel girl.......LOVE your content....humour and hustle......thank you for entertaining me...
Thank you for talking about where the clothes come from not just the prices!!!
Thank you for calling out fast fashion. I am the same way I like higher quality more sustainable things that I love. The girlfriend colldctive bras are my favorite. I am a college student so I rarely can buy those things, but I only do it when something is worn.
I never would want to spend money on one item that cost above even $20....I find it a bit ridiculous on the prices just for 1 thing!
ok but the glitter swimsuits looks so qgoooooood on her she s so gorgeous
I never disliked anything from shein, everything i got was amazing 💖💖
“i don’t really like clothes that are cheap” well not everyone can afford kardashians clothes ….
I love shien I've personally never been disappointed in quality or anything but I know people who have.
This just show me that money doesn’t buy taste. I bought 10$ dresses from Forever 21 and dressed them for over 3 years because I took well care of them. Also just because something is expensive doesn’t mean it’s durable.
TRUE!! A lot of stuff that is more expensive doesn't last nearly as long
I love that Hopescope replies to "Who loves Hopescope" comments, just before this one, but not to this genuine input for content...typical...
I've noticed a lot of people don't do Athleta activewear either but I love them! They have a variety of leggings fabrics and I haven't tried their tops but their sports bras are amazing bc they have sizing for A-C cups then D+ cups. Oh ya and when they go on sale, they're a good sale!
No one ever talks about them! And their stuff I just as good quality as lulu
What I’m seeing on you is a throwback to the eighties suits I purchased for yoga class. I still have them all! Bring it on girl!
You just gotta read reviews and look at peoples pictures, also if people stopped using Softener when washing clothes would last longer, I stopped using it after I saw clothes getting destroyed and now my clothes last for at least 10 years 😂
Wedding dress!?
why would you get your WEDDING dress on SHEIN??
I think that it’s funny that she likes almost everything she buys and the title is why I hate shein lol😂😂
I really appreciate Hope's self awareness, this is so refreshing
Speaking of ethical/environmentally friendlier, Girlfriend Collective just came out with a new seamless Float collection. Looks like it's supposed to be an alternative to Lulu aligns. Would you please review it? 😊
I was watching this video and you said something like ‘if you know where to look’… THEN I GOT AN AD THAT WAS LIKE ‘iM mAkInG wAfFlEs’ i almost burst out laughing.
this video: starts the video complaining about shein, then buys a bunch of stuff, says that it feels cheap, tries it on and says "actually this is really cute"
She shows the people who cant afford expensive clothes that those clothes are actually cute and she recommends it.
Your first outfit is so 90s 😂 I used to wear an outfit just like it in my teens 🤣🤣🤣
I signed up for shein UK plus sizes after watching your videos and love it,I buy something every other week, the prices are so affordable x
11:44 my first thought was either get a body suit or just don't 😂🤩 love your vids btw
I am afraid of Shein, everything about it just.. scares me😳
Tatiana Banks same Hahahhah
especially the name. shein. *cringe *
l l YES
Why ? they have super cute stuff
Gia Berry I know!!! They really do and for cheap prices, but they use child labor, the quality of their products are not always the best, also they have been accused of stealing information😳
