I installed akebino rear pads for 2013 M5 and they are awesome.. I wish they made front pair for my car.. Because its Less dust and good for rotors and the pedal feel when modulation is awesome.. I recommend for fellow bmw gang
Hi, i put on my Lexus the Akebono Premium pads (the one in the black and yellow box) and after my rotors changed it’s colour to brown/gold, is it normal?
I have ProAct but is it me or they don't bike as OEM now kind of skeptical to get them for my next car. Does anyone have a real life experience with them not just technical stuff.
Ceramics may not "bite" as much as semi-metalics or may depend on your rotor condition. Ceramics are design for low noise, low dust, less wear on rotors. I just ordered some Performance ceramics by Akebono as I was not happy with Hawk's that wore out in 13 months. If Akebono's don't last, I'll try Centric or Raybestos (which I has in the rear, semi metallic). I am putting new Akebono ceramics on new Centric carbon rotors.
I installed theAkebono's and tehy smoked big time slowing down a big hill! I was freaked ouit! I replaced them asap. I'm starting to think that ceramics aren't great for SUV's, and they seem to be weaker stopping and wear out faster. I installed new rotors and still the stopping power makes me nervous.
They have biggest oem disc brake pads share in industry!!!
But now Hitachi is crossing them with huge pace.

Yes thats totally normal nothing to worry about
Does this come with the brake hardware shims?
I use the ProACT pads on all my vehicles. Some come with shims. Buy hardware kit separately.
They do come with shims
Can you recommend an oem rotor for daily driving Civic
Centric rotors

+tigerbalm Hi! Any updates on your thoughts of the Akebono's?

you're supposed to use engine braking down a big hill. Any fucking brake pad will smoke like that.
+Matthew Piazza Ericthecarguy likes them for asian cars.
Do you still have to grease the back part when installing them?
You should always use a little ceramic disc brake grease or M77 on all contact points except for on the friction material or rotor disc.
When I replace pads I make sure to pull out the caliper sliding pins and put grease in the rubber boot
Doesn’t say what the performance pads are called.
