Just purchased one, arrived today, from Poland, very informative video, will clean the contacts, ordered fuses just in case...also wondering where can I buy another battery cassette...
very cool! I bought some extras from LRseries. However I haven't had to best purchasing experience with them, they haven't replied back to any of my emails and I dont want to pay for the overseas phone bill.
Previous owner Berkshire Army cadet force , my PRC 320 has Brighton sixth form collage written on it , guess it didn’t see much combat although it lost a side fin in the tuck shop raid lol
A lot of 320's were issued to the UK cadet forces after they were withdrawn from Army use.. Lots were recalled by the army for use in the UN Balkans peacekeeping mission.
Good video, we're looking at incorporating them into our MILES Warfighter Program in conjunction with the PRC 343 PRR radios. Interested to find the range on these radios. Our current squad radio, the Tesla RF-10 will not break the squelch on these unfortunately.
1:01 - "...while the Eveready is depressed..." Yeah, they probably come from the UK! 😉 4:22 - "Berks ACF" = Berkshire Army Cadet Force. 5:21 - Unlocking the PCB. I must have an older one because mine doesn't have that. The cap doesn't have the same contacts. it has leaf spring type contacts - and there's no fuse. Badly corroded from long-forgotten batteries, I had to clean, decorrode the contacts and use a soldering iron to get everything working. But it doesn't. (My electronics knowledge is hopeless but I can use a soldering iron.) I've only used one of these when doing sentry duty. Section (US = "squad") commanders, OPs and snipers used them in the field. Most of my time when I had to carry radios, it was the 351. But when I have had to carry these, they've had the NiCad cassettes. Do these work using zinc oxide batteries or must they be alkaline?
Low battery warning if at regular intervals otherwise it could be local interference breaking the squelch from bad power wall warts or WiFi pc ect but most probably low battery
For H.F. Clansman 320 cannot be beaten.
I've heard a lot of good things about the 320. But seems we better get the clansman stuff while we can, the supply appears to be drying up.
Great video, I have used a pencil eraser with a little buffing compound chucked up in a drill to polish hard to reach contacts.
Hey thanks for the suggestion! I'll do that next time!
Great vid on these cassettes
Thanks Charlie!
@@SmallTeamSupply I have clansman radios this was a little bit more of a education to their problems thanks 🏴👍🏻

@@SmallTeamSupply I've found them to be very good on eBay and incredibly fast.
@@simonsignolet5632 cool, I may try that next time.

"Hello Zero. Entry made. Resup in 2. Wait. Out." 😉
When the 320 entered service, only skilled scaleys carried it. I was glad not to.

Hey Np, glad you found it helpful! Looking forward to the results of your distance testing!

Any way to convert to 6m band??
I don't know anything about that, but if you know how I could get them to break squelch on a prc-77 I'd get alot more use out of them.
Mine does intermittent hissing, what could that be?
I'm not sure Mark. If you find a guy in the US that can service these radios at the depot level, please let me know.
