With independent testing on burn-in and image retention issues with QD-OLED I think I'll stick to WOLED over QD-OLED for at least a few more generations. If indeed I'll ever try it.

I have a 32" Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 and it amazes me every time I put a game on. It's mind blowing how bright and dark it can get, and at the same time!

I took the QD-OLED pill recently and picked up a Samsung S90C 65" TV. I have my gaming PC hooked up to my TV and game from my couch. It's a 4k144hz display, so a bit of an upgrade from my LG CX. I can't believe how good yellows and reds look on this display, and having less of a chance of burn in is great when you're a gamer. I doubt I'll upgrade my office monitor anytime soon as it barely gets used, but good to know this is an option should I choose to upgrade!

While the spec brightness of a QD-OLED is lower, the contrast ratio difference makes up the deficit. I promise if you look at one at100% brightness you will not notice any difference IN BRIGHTNESS when side-by-side with a GOOD LCD....Everything else will be just...BETTER!

Hi, I do need some advice about watching 1080p videos on 1440p monitors that no one is talking about !
Tried some high-spec 1440p models but all of them were blurry, shockingly worse than 1080p native monitors while playing 1080p videos.
Then I unfortunately learned that the scaler won't be able to precisely transpose the 1080p image onto the 1440p screen. Meaning, blur and other visual artifacts make the video look substantially worse than 1080p native monitors and it's not related with bitrate or compression etc.
Mainly watching 1080p shows, movies (not streaming on youtube/Netflix etc) and have a huge archive... Tried 4K monitors/TVs with 1080p videos and they look just fine, equal to 1080p native ! 4K is exactly four times 1080p resolution; this means that for every pixel in 1080p, there are four pixels in 2160p, so you just make each pixel four times bigger. Looks exactly like a 1080p display.
I want to upgrade to 2K for games, web & work but "to watch 1080p videos blurry with artifacts" is holding me back.
4K is hard to drive and it's expensive but definitely clearer than 1440p !
    - Should I skip 1440p & invest in 4K monitors ? Can you do a video about the elephant in the room ?

I've tried the Evnia for a week or so and I'd still get the Alienware AW3423DW or even the F variant despite their issues, because their colour accuracy is greater, their IQ is sharper naturally, and they have a 3 year burn-in warranty, where if you notice any image retention after a panel refresh (Not the auto pixel refresh that occurs every time you turn the display off!), they'll send you a new unit as a replacement at no cost and as a bonus, the burn-in warranty resets with every new unit! That being said, I got my AW3423DW at launch, and other than a plain black wallpaper and turning it off when I step away from the computer for more than a minute, I have ZERO retention or burn in, in over a year...It'll be 18 months in September. You really DO NOT NEED TO BABY THESE THINGS!

Yeah, no burn-in warranty for such expensive OLED monitor is a deal breaker for me, and I don't think any other manufacturer offers warranty similar to Dell. BTW the DWF version is now better than the DW variant due to firmware updates dell released it is also cheaper.

    Hello KitGuruTech,
I recently calibrated the Evnia with my Spyder X, I calibrated in SDR and HDR mode and in HDR mode the result is very bad. Maybe you have an idea whether HDR mode actually has to be better than SDR calibrated.

    Great review, thank you.
Now to a question and I hope you can give me an honest answer 😊
Would you go for this Philip monitor or the later Alienware AW3423DWF? (Not the previous Alienware which the firmware couldn’t be updated which also have 175Hz).
And can this Philip update the firmware for future uses and changes so it isn’t locked to this version as on the Alienware AW3423DW 175Hz?
    Best regards
    Daniel

Do we know if this has had a firmware update recently? Read quite a bit about the overly aggressive anti burn-in measures and wondered if they eased it a little. Assume Phillips don't offer warranty coverage for burn.

    • @KitGuruTech
      @KitGuruTech  Рік тому

When my unit arrived it had firmware 1.02 installed. I updated to 1.09 when it arrived and did all my testing with that. I can't say I found the anti burn-in stuff a pain really, and you can adjust the speed/intensity of each - or turn them off entirely if you want. It's a three year warranty that does cover pixel burn in. I talk about the burn in stuff at 07:54
