Ochun is the Afro-Cuban Lucumi goddess of divinity, femininity, fertility, beauty, and love; she is associated with water, a ceremonial fan, and the colors white and gold. And Ochun is the Orisha to whom Valdes was initiated and devoted her life. While Valdes' Yoruba name is Obi Numi, which means "the union of two waters."
