Someone could say something in such a harsh and cruel manner and it just goes around and round in my head for so long, I have some of them in my head right now and I don’t even think they’ll go away..it’s terrifying
I have been ruminating incessantly since I got involved in drugs in my twenties. That combined with a violent household and having almost gone to prison, seemed to set something off in my brain. I could ruminate for every single hour of every day while awake, for the best part of a decade. Less so now, but it's still there and ruins my days. In the past, I did find the only time I did not ruminate was when I was deep in a task, physical work or video gaming. it's ruined most of my relationships and had me in and out of a few psychologists and CBT nurses.

I’m 34 and I just realized that I have add. Thought loops, anxiety, focus issues, but also something I can’t describe well. I’d be interested in hearing if anyone feels the same- it’s almost like a very intense claustrophobia feeling but in regards to the place I am. I’ve been moving around my entire adult life. I’ll fell fine for a few weeks then I’ll get the claustrophobia anxiety feeling and only feel alright when I’m in transition again. I can’t describe it too well but it’s honestly a worse feeling than any depression or sadness I’ve ever had. Because the feeling is so frantic and pressing like it’s an emergency that I have to leave. My worst fear is being a wanderer for life but I struggle so badly with this. Any insights would be greatly appreciated
Having been a single parent since 21 years old, for me & this is just how my story goes, but I experienced very similar feelings for a good few years. At 23, I found myself in dire straights so entered a therapeutic center to beg for help! I knew I couldn't cure myself in a vacuum! So, as a kid growing up, I was moved around frequently, so... having a kid I was in charge of I felt it might be just as damaging to him if he too was frequently uprooted. If I could do that to him, what was I running from? There may be several things at play within your experiences, & I think you did a pretty good job describing how you experience your cycles. In my now 64 years, I've gotten myself diagnosed D.I.D. twice in my adult life and doing all I can to improve things in my life and recovery. I've been extremely unhappy in recent years & reverted to some old behaviours & being self destructive, or habitual with UA-cam and internet. Now? I'm choosing to learn better self-love actions, meditation/s, going for walks, but I referred to meditation because with those I'm attracted to, are where I've to focus, sit with me and how I feel, focussing on trying to relax beginning with 10 minuets to begin with & as time goes by, for longer periods of time. I wish you well on your journey of discovery. (Edit), just reread your post. My nickname with my work colleagues when I was 17 years old was, 'the wanderer'!!

So once your ruminating thoughts get distracted by playing the game and then when you stop what happens? How can the effect be continuously effective even after stopping playing? Wonder how it works. If the impacts of it are too short the person is gonna be addicted to the game I reckon. Then it’s like hiding the problem behind another problem.
I play chess or draughts on my phone & it breaks the anxiety loop. I also say to myself, " it's just a thought, it's not real, doesn't mean that the anxiety predictions will happen. Have to practice daily.

I’d argue against this as im now ruminating and it’s very crippling to be constantly overanalyzing everything that has just happened. Im basically a gaming addict and play games much more immersive and stimulating than Tetris and it might work to help escape these thoughts for sometime but they come back even when im gaming. Compulsive escapism will only bring much larger consequences.
I have a really odd ruminating thought(s), that ruin my life and I fall into the worse of depressions. Every time I am in a relationship, the first 2-3 months are great. After that, I start ruminating about my girlfriend's past. I start thinking about why they stayed in relationships that according to them, they were miserable in. My mind starts judging this person that when I started the relationship with them, I thought they were smart and strong women. Now I see them as weak and stupid women. I don't want to, but it happens. I do have to admit, that this rumination starts as soon as I start fighting and arguing with my girlfriend. Maybe it's a way of my brain telling me that I'm in an unhealthy relationship or that this person I am dating, has a lot of emotional trauma...which has always been the case. I seem to attract women that look fine at first, but once I get intimate with them, and the arguments start, the ruminations start and I fall into a deep depression in which I just want to die. The pain is real and unbearable. I'm going through this right now, again. And I'm really ready to throw in the towel on this living thing. Someone out there that has conquered or greatly improved, please help me. Again, I think by rumination is unique, but if you have the exact ruminations, please help me.
See I’ll be playing those games and still ruminating those anxious thoughts. Then any time I play that particular game I think about what I was thinking about at the time of rumination. It’s a sickness I’m trying to heal
Before I listen to all this does he mention a food we can eat, a supplement to take, medicine to ingest or process that can help those of us who ruminate so much we can't even sleep...get a hold on this?

If the impacts of it are too short the person is gonna be addicted to the game I reckon. Then it’s like hiding the problem behind another problem.
I play chess or draughts on my phone & it breaks the anxiety loop. I also say to myself, " it's just a thought, it's not real, doesn't mean that the anxiety predictions will happen. Have to practice daily.
Very useful video. For overthinking problem be careful what you feed your mind. Avoid comparing yourself with others, reduce watching negative social media and avoid constipation as it affects the mind instantly. Your breathing is related to the brain [mind] and gives relief from stress-anxiety. For a relaxed mind observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath sensations at the entrance of the nostrils for 5-10-15 minutes or more. You can sit or lay down on the bed--eyes closed--No deep breathing. Don’t fight your thoughts. With practice the mind will relax. Never meditate with expectations but with self-awareness. Observe your breath anywhere -anytime-- before sleep, at work, when travelling, taking a walk, etc with eyes open or closed. Like me make breath observing a lifetime habit to have a better life. Best wishes--Counsellor.
Your comments are more helpful than the video.
I'm finding myself becoming anxious and down a bit lately and just being in my head most of the time. How do I break from this?
I understand completely. I’ve tried medication and got some relief but what he is saying distract yourself as soon as it starts. I’ve told myself “stop” aloud. It’s all easier said than done but it takes time. I hope you are doing better. I’m with you in spirit.
Sedo, Only if thought rumination becomes too much consulting a psychologist may be needed. You can heal yourself. Your breath is directly related to your mind [brain] causing anxiety-stress. For a relaxed life without anxiety-negative thoughts sit on a chair, back erect, hands on lap with palms upwards, eyes closed, be still and observe your natural incoming--outgoing breath for around 10-15 minutes. Be as still as possible. Many thoughts will come which is ok--slowly negative thoughts will reduce and your mind will relax. During your daily activity keep observing your breath consciously. Best part is mood swings also reduce. Do the above meditation daily to feel relaxed. For more relaxation enter the following on google search and listen before sleep repeating the affirmations in your mind. -“52Hz affirmations for health and healing you tube”. Find peace of mind. Best wishes. Shyaaam Sir. -Counsellor.
Anyone know what app it is as I would love to get back tomy
I’d argue against this as im now ruminating and it’s very crippling to be constantly overanalyzing everything that has just happened. Im basically a gaming addict and play games much more immersive and stimulating than Tetris and it might work to help escape these thoughts for sometime but they come back even when im gaming. Compulsive escapism will only bring much larger consequences.
I love this, thank you!
Why do I have this and barely anyone else does :(( ughhh
Literally me 😩
@@pawlogates im mentally ill as all hell , it really sucks
@@musicandpoetry_8 yeah and its just so painfull when its both that and being mostly alone in college maybe even partly due to that :c
@@pawlogates yeah I’m alone too :((
what's the app name??
Again, I think by rumination is unique, but if you have the exact ruminations, please help me.
i’m not an expert by any means, but look into relationship ocd maybe? i hope it gets better for you
Sounds like Narcissism
This sounds so interesting
See I’ll be playing those games and still ruminating those anxious thoughts. Then any time I play that particular game I think about what I was thinking about at the time of rumination. It’s a sickness I’m trying to heal
Maybe a game you haven habituated too much but its not too hard or easy either?
Same if i try to distract myself i find myself ruminating on my rumination💀how are you now?
Very good presentation young man 👍
Before I listen to all this does he mention a food we can eat, a supplement to take, medicine to ingest or process that can help those of us who ruminate so much we can't even sleep...get a hold on this?
I had a mental breakdown in 2021 due to rumination and now it’s happening again. I’m terrified and I do not know what to do
Same here. I got caught in a nasty rumination cycle a couple years ago. It is starting to come back and I don't know what I am going to do.
