Hahahaha. I was thinking the same thing, 37 years as an ICU nurse. I remember when I first started nursing, we weren’t allowed to wear gloves (except for sterile dressings) because it was considered disrespectful to the patient! So much for infection control and PPE. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
She is living her best life at your ranch. Sometimes it’s hard doing what you know is right and you were very gentle with her. I love your compassion for all your animals.
Good Morning FTR! I missed the original but this was a good lesson on the many different health issues on the farm. My question was how did she get that abscess to begin with . . . I’m glad she had you to help her heal and she still living a very productive life on the ranch. You never cease to amaze me! Awesome work, Tyler Thanks for taking us back in time. 🙏🏼
Perhaps it was a compression injury, like she was kicked. It looked like he pulled fibrin out of the abscess. Crush injuries like that can abscess and the give away is the fibrin. Hard to say, definitively, from afar, though.
Thank you for this video. I do remember her. Glad you think the way you do. I am your parent's age.....may I say.....I am very proud of you and your methods😊.
Your cows are treated like queens, Buddy is a pet for life, and the steers have a wonderful life until they go to freezer camp. I think you are a very good ambassador for the beef industry.
I remember that one, (4 years though?? Holy cow! 😆). After helping my sister run a 60 doe goat dairy, lancing an abscess was a pretty regular occurrence so no problem watching for me 👏👍
I’m happy you got all those views and really happy you continue to post your daily activities not go for the sensational tasks. Adding this type of video to the mix is a wonderful addition. Keep up the good work.
Hi Tyler I am so happy for your cow she is beautiful and healthy, well today been Nov 5 I get to go to what we call in Toronto,is The Royal agricultural Winter Fair ,I get to see lots of cows, horses,Billy goats pigs, and many more,I can get close to all animals of course with all the amazing farmers who take great pride in their animals, they come from all over Canada .thankyou for your kindness with your animals take care from 🇨🇦
It's truly fantastic to see how far you, your family and your ranch has progressed in a very quick 4 years. The older I get (66yo) the more time flys. G'day from Oz ....
I had already been watching a while when you did this one. I knew for sure you were the real thing no hiding anything good bad or otherwise. Lots of happy memories and a few sad ones to of special animals leaving the farm. Thanks for sharing your story with us all.❤️🙏🏼
We had the same abscess on a cow a few years ago when we had just started keeping cattle. Luckily, we had a couple guys helping us work the cattle and they knew what to do (I certainly didn't). The critical comments you mentioned are funny to think about because if those people are such experts why would they be watching unless I guess they are so much in love with working cattle that they watch other people work cattle. I watch because I have a lot to learn and like you, I want to take good care of these animals. Thank you for sharing.
😂 This is so funny you did this video; I'm a pimple popper / abscess / cyst video watcher...one night Animal videos popped up on my feed, and this was the video of how I started watching yours and now I look forward everyday to learn alongside with you through your videos 😅 Amazing, keep up the good work!❤
Thanks for the rewind review. I always get a kick out of what people get squeamish over. I was a funeral director in my youth right out of college. I can't say I've seen it all but.......that was much more interesting to me. It wouldn't even make it on my gross meter list. Kudos to you for still having and using the same sweatshirt! I still have t-shirts from rock concerts I went to in high school. Almost 50 years later, they are In fairly good condition. More importantly, they still fit me. Not planning on getting fat sitting in a rocking chair yet! Thanks for the video. Keep Smiling and Stay Grateful 😊
I too remember that video she looked bad but you did an awesome job helping her and seeing her today was pretty cool especially with buddy in the back ground .
I remember the video quite well. I remember thinking then, you did a good job. Taking your time was the right thing to do, regardless of your reasons. A person should want to do this sort of thing correctly. I'm biased I guess and I can never think of a bad thing to say about FTR! He's very responsible with his animals.
That was great how you went back to an old video! How you put in inserts to the video. And the comments you received. I like this type of videos. Great job 👏
It’s really cool that she is still with the herd. Even more important is that now if that were to happen you have a head holder. Which I’m sure is much safer.
Thank you for not just reposting the video but adding your new commentary on it. Most channels just re-run the video. Somehow I feel that is not right. I enjoyed this video once again.
That was the video that made me start watching your channel. I grew up on a dairy farm that converted to beef. So much of what you do brings back great memories for me. The way you run your place reminds me so much of how my brother runs his operation. Keep on keeping on.
I love all of your videos and have enjoyed watching as you and your wife raise such a beautiful family. You're teaching me a lot about being a farming family. Thank you for all you do for the United States by supply in beef that's so well cared for and their feed so thoughtfully mixed. Keep the videos coming! ❤️ Y'all!
Dr. Tyler's patient lives! Well done. I remember this episode and reminded me of my summers on my uncle's ranch. Sometimes, you just have to handle the gross. The issue about him not wearing gloves is somewhat valid, but it was more for his benefit than the cow's. Infections of any kind can be bad if introduced through a cut or scratch on your hand or arm. But Tyler obviously survived. However, i did notice that he has lost a bit of weight. I think that is because this young man is constantly in motion. Well done, Tyler.
Keeping livestock is quite a challenge sometimes. It’s great when everything is working good but then there’s those times that are very difficult. You always want to do the best for your animals and that’s sometimes not for the faint of heart. Kudos to you.
I remember this well and liked it. For me this was as many of your videos very educational. I lked it so much for it's educational purpose I shared it on my Homesteading side.
Ima basically a newbie to your videos. But enjoyed becoming a regular. I’ve watched some of your older ones but had missed this one. Coming from a dairy then beef ranch background I really enjoy everyone of your videos. You are living the life. Of course I didn’t think so back in the day but now I wish I could have continued the farm life. Of course some of the life I still lead and I know it’s a little late in life for me to go back to doing that. Heart might be there but strength and ability have warned some no lots. Keep on FTR. Thanks.
I think you did a fine job lancing her jaw. I grew up on a farm and had some pretty messy things to do and didn't have gloves lol. It's been over 55yrs ago.
If you've thoroughly sanitized your hands, NO Need for gloves, they do NOT grip to pull out the clump and you loose Your finger sensations you need. Great job FTR!!!
Y'know Tyler, you must have the confidence to show us everything. Even though I do not have a farm and live in a house, I still love to see what goes on when you have a farm with cattle on it. It is the only way many of us get to see the other side, nasty bits and good bits. Your channel is the most interesting of the lot, and that whole video of the abscess was heart-warming to see, as you were taking care of the cow. If you hadn't done that, and even though you were nervous, you did the best that you could for the cow. All the negative comments are because people think they know better. Each farmer works differently, you and they have all studied to be farmers, and after all the studying you find a way to be your own ways. Always remember this, no one works the same, no one thinks the same, but people love telling other people that they are wrong because they do it differently, especially if they can leave it in a comment for all to see, so that it makes them look better than you. But they are not, if they cannot say anything, in a positive way, then they should not post a comment just to look better. That is being egotistic, and they look stupid instead.
Hello farmer Tyler, Been watching your videos for a while now and have loved every second of it. As someone interested in working with cattle someday I try to watch to gather information for the future. You mentioned on the video you were reviewing about having to castrate bulls in college or something of the sorts. What do you have your degree in?
My question is "why not a bigger hole to drain that thing?" Gotta get rid of all that crap in there. Hey, you took care of her and that's the main thing. She looks great!
If you have enough guts to post a video any video. I would think you would have enough guts to look beyond haters comments. You’re doing great keep the videos coming.
Didn't see the original so thanks for this. You did great!! Dont understand all the off comments you referrred to. Guess im just understanding to a fault maybe. Idk.
First time I’ve seen this video, I started watching about a year ago. I’m a former dairy farmer and lanced many abscesses over the years. It is nasty and smells horrible but it’s got to be done. Based on my experience you did an excellent job. Thanks for sharing!
I want u to take the old corral and turn it into a moble one and take to the steer pasture or to the pasture over by the leavi . So u don't always need to bring them back to work
Prolapses are often a 2 or 3 person task to reposition. Cool water, sugar, and a flat surface to use to push/hold against the prolapse can be helpful, especially for uterine prolapses. Usually not a stinky task, just a tedious one.
Rectal prolapses were not as common for us on the dairy farm, however, i did see more of them on a farrowing operation (about 228 sows farrowing per week). The sows had 7 to 22 pigs born per sow.
Those sort of full on animal husbandry activities can certainly attract the ire of those without a clue about running stock. Considering it was your first unassisted lancing, you did extremely well, you looked like a consummate professional doing it for the 100th time!
I remember watching this one but as a retired nurse it's not the worst I've seen. I'm glad to see she's still part of the heard.
I bet you’ve seen a lot worse!!
*Herd
That was a great trip down memory lane Thankyou FTR ❤
Hahahaha. I was thinking the same thing, 37 years as an ICU nurse. I remember when I first started nursing, we weren’t allowed to wear gloves (except for sterile dressings) because it was considered disrespectful to the patient! So much for infection control and PPE. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thank you Tyler for being REAL! Another day in the life for a Farmer....
Thanks Jaclyn
I saw the original version. That was a fast four years. Enjoyed every minute except losing Belly.
😢
Yeah so sad
She is living her best life at your ranch. Sometimes it’s hard doing what you know is right and you were very gentle with her. I love your compassion for all your animals.

I’m happy you got all those views and really happy you continue to post your daily activities not go for the sensational tasks. Adding this type of video to the mix is a wonderful addition. Keep up the good work.
Its hard to fathom that there are people who leave negative comments on your site... Fascinating...🤔...

If you think it is flying by now, wait until you are 80! You can almost feel the wind as it passes!😄
I agree - I'm 82, so you can imagine how time flies for me !! 😅
I'm at dentist appointment. This is really making me feel for this cow
I had already been watching a while when you did this one. I knew for sure you were the real thing no hiding anything good bad or otherwise. Lots of happy memories and a few sad ones to of special animals leaving the farm. Thanks for sharing your story with us all.❤️🙏🏼
Great job on cleaning out that abscessed on this cow. First time seeing this video thank you for revisiting it.
I’m glad you enjoyed it thank you!
Was that 4 years ago. How time flies 👍👍💯💯💯👍👍
#11 got fluffy, and you got slender in those 4 years.
She looks very good.

Enjoyed the 'flashback'! Glad you kept her. Brought back memories of my youth; thanks for the trip!
This had to be done, and she thanks you by delivering a heathly calve every year.
You’re a steady, reliable man-even to your wardrobe! 😃
😂 This is so funny you did this video; I'm a pimple popper / abscess / cyst video watcher...one night Animal videos popped up on my feed, and this was the video of how I started watching yours and now I look forward everyday to learn alongside with you through your videos 😅

There will always be so called experts so let them go . Great job !
I'll admit that was your only video I didn't watch. Thanks for the reprise! 😂 Here goes...
Hope it’s not too bad for you!
I grew up on a farm so this video didn't bother me. I never miss watching when a new video comes out.
Good update and review! Good post FTR!
I often watch these while having my breakfast. Not this one!
😂😂🤪
Tyler, great look back video! Thanks so much!
That was the video that made me start watching your channel. I grew up on a dairy farm that converted to beef. So much of what you do brings back great memories for me. The way you run your place reminds me so much of how my brother runs his operation. Keep on keeping on.
This video just proves you do know what you are doing!

I’m here for all the gore and icky just because I know that after all that there is healing and health! Thanks for the trip back in time FTR!!
It is like a pimple popper video. Gross but interesting at the same time. Everyone loves a pimple popper video. 😂😂😂
Haha yes they do apparently!
Great to look back 4 years I remember this video the ranch has improved quite a bit in 4 years and time keeps on going have a great weekend.
Farming is not for the faint of heart !! # 11 is looking good.
Very memorable! Thanks for the replay and the narrative of looking back. You’ve certainly made some amazing changes over that four years.
Keeping livestock is quite a challenge sometimes. It’s great when everything is working good but then there’s those times that are very difficult. You always want to do the best for your animals and that’s sometimes not for the faint of heart. Kudos to you.

Thanks for sharing, Tyler !!
Yip,remember watching the video,

I sure like you saying Good morning! That was nice to hear. And I glad that what you did helped her.
I have seen Dr Pol (a vet) do the same thing.
I saw that video Tyler ..... thats what got me watching ..... well done, great job.
Congratulations on nearing 4 million views!
I remember watching that one. Medical stuff is always interesting.
My god…. YOU know EXACTLY what your doing 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥰🥰🥰🥰xx
Great job. Hello from Michigan. Take care, be safe and God bless. Go Vote!
I remember this well and liked it. For me this was as many of your videos very educational. I lked it so much for it's educational purpose I shared it on my Homesteading side.
I watched it when you originally posted it, and now I've seen it twice, thx.
I recall that!!❤
Wow didn't realize I've been watching that long. Obviously a great channel to watch.
Have a great day.
I remember this! You did such a good job, the relief for her had to be tremendous! I have watched this one a time or three!☺️☺️❤❤❤
Tylerisms
No sense in washing my hands just yet. - (Gloves are for sissies - just kidding)
Thanks for the video and update
This was the video that brought me to your channel.
You have definitely come a long way since filming the draining of the abses
OMG, your excellent mate and yes I remember that one. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣YOU make ME chuckle 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣xx
Thanks!
🙌🏻😊 you the man!
I really enjoyed this video. Very adept editing. Fun to revisit the original video.
Loved it .
A good review of video and how the cow is a productive mama in your herd today.

I loved this video

You mentioned on the video you were reviewing about having to castrate bulls in college or something of the sorts. What do you have your degree in?
This was the first video I watched with you, I was hooked and have watched all your videos since
❤ I remember watching " Lumpy "
My question is "why not a bigger hole to drain that thing?" Gotta get rid of all that crap in there. Hey, you took care of her and that's the main thing. She looks great!
It was big enough to drain the pus, small enough to heal without suturing.
Good looking cow. Keep up the good work.
If you have enough guts to post a video any video. I would think you would have enough guts to look beyond haters comments. You’re doing great keep the videos coming.
Wisdom is learned 😊
Your beard looked a lot better four years ago! Keep up the great videos!

Meaning old squeeze shoot / working corrall
It is good to have the problem critter handy to check on during recovery.
Great job Tyler
Yeah, but how many boxes of gloves did you get sent after that video? 😁
Doctor Tyler.
Great video farmer Tyler ranch
I am going to send you some gloves...lol
Great video!!♥️
You have come a long way in 12 months or less.
Have you had to deal with a prolapse?
I bred my heifer for my first ever calf and she prolapsed. it's not a fun thing to deal with.

I think most common said should be --- JUST PLAIN GROSS !!! 😅
How many canines have worked the ranch with you over the years since you assumed the helm?
