So I say roughly 25 hrs per act because each act took me different amounts of time to complete. But I also wanted to purposely leave some stuff untouched so that my second playthrough could still have some mystery to it. 😊
I spent 60 hrs on first act and didn’t rush obviously but just came across l and completed side quests and main quests organically. 25 hrs per act is definitely is really fast to complete
K, the level cap is too low. In my first runthrough I played a Nuetral Good'ish Gloomstalker/Storm Sorcerer. I ended up with the vast majority of the quests available to me. I ended up quitting before I finished bc I had been at max level for 151 hours. Not played in total, but at level 12. 273 hours, and oddly enough, 273K XP gained after level 12 as well which is kinda weird (273K in hours played as well as 273KXP gained after...anyway, back to our story...). Considering they hand placed all of the possible encounters and it wasn't like I could camp out spawn points to over-level the content, yeah, 12 is just too low. Most speed runs are around 65 hours. Most main quest runs where people only do a few of the NPC side quests, don't read the books, ignore most of the notes etc take around 75-100 hours. If you're someone like me who explores everywhere they possibly can, reads everything can get their hands on etc, there is a legit 300+ hours of content in the game. I still had Wyll's part of Wyrmway, the House of Hope, the Bhaalists and a few other minor side quests + the finale left when I bailed. As a consumer, I don't care if levels 7, 8 and 9 spells are _"really difficult to get into a video game."_ They had 6+ years of actual production on this game, 3 of which were in Early Access with a couple of million free Beta Testers. So in my opinion, they should have figured it out. The XP tables along with numerous 7-9 spells and abilities are in the game code so there were obviously quite a few people who were thinking about levels higher than 12 with the final decision not being announced until 7 months or so before the game was released. As a person I understand why though. At the same time, like I mentioned, they hand placed every encounter, and they had to realize that even if only 5% of the people who buy the game play a run this thoroughly, that's still about 1M people who are being asked to play more than half of the game with *ZERO* player progression outside of the occasional very, very minor gear upgrade. That is a really big _ask_ out of those players. To wrap up, it still was the best game I have played in the last decade. That includes Mass Effect 3, The Witcher 3 + all of it's expansions/DLC, Cyberpunk, God of War 2018(?), Spider-Man Remastered, Doom 2016, Mankind Divided (yikes I loved that game), of course Divinity: Original Sin 2 and a plethora of others in the A/CRPG, Platforming, Shooter and Sports genres. It was just a phenomenal game. And the voice acting. Oh my god are these people incredible. it helps that the writing itself is some of the best ever put from pen to virtual paper while the music swells it to a crescendo that breaks like a tidal wave; It is impeccable. 9.5 out of 10 when I am grumpy about the level cap, 9.75 when I think about it as a regular player who is just playing the game and going along for the ride.
I must have lived under a rock, because I never played D&D before BG3... hehehe it was great though experiencing everything for the first time, but it was a steep learning curve that's for sure. Loved the montage that you put together. dropped a like.
This is my first real experience with DnD. I grew up in the Olden Days, where the tabletop games were seen as Evil. Have occasionally seen DnD from various groups on UA-cam, but never played. Till Baldur's Gate 3. Adoring it. There's bugs (a few) but I have faith that they will be polished off eventually by Larian, but overall? The game is amazing, a true work of art amongst a time of a heavily commercialized gaming industry.
I started to d and d when I was 7 with my dad . But he had the 12ft gaming table and thousands of painted miniatures so I had an epic d and d childhood . I've had this game for a week but gonna start it today .
If you like BG3, you should seriously check out Wrath of the Righteous and Kingmaker. Both are phenomenal CRPG's that imo actual do the RPG part better than BG3. BG3 absolutely destroys the other two in polish/overall quality/complexity vs fun, but both are what I'd consider near perfect games (WotR is a bit better than Kingmaker but Kingmaker has some super unique mechanics you might enjoy). Either way, glad I subbed when you popped up in my feed a bit ago. Hope the algorithm gives you some love.
Will do! I've heard a lot about Kingmaker but have only seen a couple playthroughs as of now. Never heard of Wrath of the Righteous tho. 💭 I'll definitely have to get them. 😁📝 Thanks for the rec! 🤘
@@nattertot Sorry for being late, I would suggest WOTR, Kingmaker is a little Janky and doesn't have one of the main systems that makes WOTR a masterpiece
Sorry but it was done before with not only Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 but with the follow-up Neverwinter Nights that even allowed people to make custom scenario and to play the game master even. So no, someone did not ":finally did it" but Larian sure did it well.
NWN was marketed as a semi-sequel to BG2, but it really didn't stand up in that regard. BG3 is a far superior sequel, and actually recaptures the feel of BG1 & 2.
Yeah, it actually was. To the point that some of the "loading tips" on BG2 actually said (it turned out incorrectly) that you could import your BG2 character into NWN. Not sure of the timeline - I think it was the Throne of Bhaal expansion that introduced that message. I googled it cos was doubting my memory - I'll post the link in a reply to this message, if you don't see it, then it means it was blocked by the amazing youtube.
They make it impossible to share links on this disgrace of a platform. I'll try again for the third time now. Search for "bg2 import character to nwn message" online. Top result for me. Around 2006 - so yeah looks like the msg was added with ToB.
@@MrShadowfax42 Maybe it was but it did not feel like it at all, especially after the expansion Throne of Baal for BG2 that made your characters strong as gods. NWN felt way more sandboxy adn way less st5ory rich, in fact I personally did not like it very much and it felt like going to Dragon Age 2 fronm Origins to me. As such I feel Baldur's Gate 3 is a way better follow-up to BG2, no matter if you can import your save or not.
I've finished it and am also on additional playthroughs. I agree with the review, game is a masterpiece. Act 3 has had several patches by now and everything works great. Game is amazing
25h per act? Then you clearly rushed through...
Yea the first act took me 35 hours and I know I missed a lot of stuff which is inevitable
So I say roughly 25 hrs per act because each act took me different amounts of time to complete. But I also wanted to purposely leave some stuff untouched so that my second playthrough could still have some mystery to it. 😊
I cant get enough of this game. Im 80 hours in and just made it the crećhe near the mountain pass. Its crazy good.
Good review, pretty much agree with all of your points.

I managed to get a credit roll in act 2. Reloaded a save and continued.

Like half the fantasy games out there are at least DnD-inspired, if not loosely based on DnD.
Most people haven’t. Maybe bg will inspire more people to pick up the game. Bg is very close to the dnd ruleset especially the character build set

They were seen as evil bc a group of kids dressed up as ninjas and killed a family . They told the cops they were role-playing ninjas from d n d smh

Elixir of Resist Fire 🤣🤣
Shadowheart is not a good or bad girl, she is a naughty girl.
Another review from reviewer too busy to finish the game.
Well actually I did finish it. 😁 And for my second playthrough I'm doing a Dark Urge run. 🗡️
funny how the review mentions one of the epic boss fights that are near the end of the game and still being called out for not finishing it
