  • In this video, Mr. Krug works through 15 different and challenging multiple-choice questions that are very similar in style and content to what you'll find on this year's AP Chemistry exam. He reads and works through each question, then gives a full explanation for each one. These are the same 15 multiple-choice questions found in the publicly-available AP Chemistry Course and Exam Description, provided by the College Board.

    Quick question @JeremyKrug, in question number 13 it does not specifically ask for a net ionic equation, so how are we supposed to identify that it is asking for that instead of the general equation? Is it because it specifies to identify the "reacting species"? Thank you for the help as always!

    • @daniel_hongjeongwoo1779
      @daniel_hongjeongwoo1779 3 місяці тому

      The question mentions "reacting species" instead of net ionic equation. Now, the definition of net ionic equation is: a chemical equation at only shows reacting species, and that's how you know which one they are asking for.

    • @JeremyKrug
      @JeremyKrug  3 місяці тому

      If it says "reacting species" or anything like "net ionic equation", you'll write the net ionic.

    Thankyou for the video, so on question 8 can you please explain why the concentration of NH3 is still greater than [Ag(NH3)2] even though the Keq constant is greater than 1? I thought for keq if it is greater than 1 that entails that the reaction is moving forward and the concentration of the products would be greater than the concentration of the reactants. Thankyou

    • @uni_16
      @uni_16 3 місяці тому

      Hi! So for this one I had the same question, but i think it's because of the Keq value. Since it's so large it would mean that there's more products than reactants like you said, however, I don't think we think of it that like that, but rather to what extent the reaction will continue to completion. Since it's so large, we need to say that it will almost react to completion, so you just use a ice table to do stoichiometry and then solve.

    Hi! I am US student who has exam on may 6th and have a little question
    I have been doing frq section and got struggle with sig fig
    Is this really matter on the exam???
    Because problem says 0.300g at first and next sentence says 138.12g I don’t know which one should pick as my sig fig number 3 or 5???
    If I am not sure about this can I just use 3 sigfig?? And for PH is it always 3 sigfig??
    Thank you love ur video😻😻

    • @chefethanguo9701
      @chefethanguo9701 3 місяці тому +1

      I think that for regular sig figs, you round it off to the least amount given to the problem. In this case, you will round your final answer to 3 sig figs. For pH calculations, the total number of sig figs in your concentration of [H+] is the number of decimal places that your pH has (same thing for pOH). For example, if I have a [H+] of 1.0 x 10^-14, my pH would be 14.00. I hope that answers your question (all of this is answered according to my chemistry instructor who has taught AP Chemistry for many years).

    hello mr krug, so on question 13 when you said that cl anions are spectator ions how do we know that because i dont remeber my teacher telling us that anions form strong acids enters and leaves the equation without binding to another molecule.

    • @JeremyKrug
      @JeremyKrug  3 місяці тому +1

      Strong acids always ionize completely, so the Cl- enters the reaction in ionic form. Since metals react with cations in redox reactions, the chloride has nothing else to react with, so it will be a spectator ion.

      You have to see heat as prouduct or reactant. For example, heat is reactant when a reaction is endothermic. Thus if you add more heat to that reaction the equilibrium will shift towards the products. On the other hand, if a reaction is exothermic heat is a product. Therefore, if you add more heat (adding more product), the equilibrium will shift towards the reactant. Hope that helps and good luck if you are taking AP chem test on 6👍; I am also taking it this year

    Today I got a 60% on a mock exam and my teacher said I got an AP 3. I feel like that's gotta be not accurate. I'm soooo nervous for Monday guys

      A score of 60% is right on the bubble between a 3 and 4, most years. Keep working, and you're going to do great!

    For #8 why is AgNH3 not the highest if k>1

    • @pianopanda9057
      @pianopanda9057 3 місяці тому

      I think because the Ag was a limiting reactant, since the reactants were not present in stoichiometric initial concentrations. So that’s why the all the Ag reacts approximately due to the outrageously large Keq and the remaining 0.2M of NH3 is larger than the concentration of AgNH3.
