She's still connected to the girl that she was, the one that was dreaming of being a great singer, the one that wrote meaningful songs in Stripped and Back To Basics. Many forget who they are and get lost in their careers. But she's still there, I respect and admire that.
It's because she's such an avid journal-keeper. In her Masterclass she talked about how that's the greatest gift you can give yourself as a songwriter because it helps you to weave your personal experiences into your songwriting. She also mentioned how easy it is to lose yourself with all the fame and demands from fans and music execs. Sometimes you forget why you even got into music in the first place. Writing all her thoughts and feelings into a journal every day keeps her connected to that little girl who just wanted to sing. Does anyone else remember her showing a few of her journal entries during one of her debut-era MTV specials? I distinctly remember it because some of what she had written ended up as lyrics on Back to Basics (the song Back in the Day I believe). Kelly Clarkson is also an avid journal-keeper so I guess it's common among great singers and songwriters. I wonder if Mariah Carey and Adele also keep journals...🤔

She’s the real deal! I’ve been mostly drawn towards rock musicians and can easily say Christina is one of the very few pop artists I actually sit down to listen to.
This song is so special to me. The fact she did it for real after all these years make me so emotional. I was 7, too young at the time to understand all her songs, but years after years i understood who she really was and wich kind of artist she was. I'm so proud to be a fighter, for being there along the way, "by her side". It's such a beautitul, long and emotional journey and I can't be more happy to be part or this! I loved Britney like everyone else but Christina’s voice did something to me! So I was like “finally MY pop star had arrived!” And then I hear the final track “obvious” and I remember that being the literal moment I realized she was different. She wasn’t just ANY pop star. She had a special kind of talent and a raw emotion the other pop queens (while still iconic) didn’t showcase in their music the way I felt she did. And even at that age I was more for the soulful, lyrical artists with the BIG voices so she was right up my alley. This is the song that put her at the TOP of my list and then when stripped came out and we finally got to learn even more of who she really was through her music😮💨 man what a feeling. This woman is my is such a gem in every way. Her music has saved me and so many others in ways that I can’t even express. to this day I’ve never loved another female vocalist the way i love her. I have other faves but she has always been and will always be my #1 🥹
