- A messy, cluttered house is a battle in most household's where children are present! (let's be honest, even when they aren't present it can be a challenge when life gets so busy). If you are like me, and cleaning (tidying) is not exactly the love of your life, and you can quickly feel overwhelmed... then I will share a few tips that I do when trying to get on top of a messy house!

I have never seen a big brother so excited about a baby sister. He is absolutely adorable and precious! I can't wait to see him with her when she arrives.
I had a neighbor come over one day and ask how I keep my house clean. My advise was do one room at a time don’t jump around. Awhile later I talked to her she was thankful for the advise. I love watching your posts. Your home is beautiful!

I've listened to tons of decluttering videos since the new year and while I have learned something from each one, your video today makes things seem "doable". My whole house is a mess, I’m overwhelmed and simply can’t get myself to do it. I’m watching this to encourage my self that this is possible, I’m not a messy person, I’m not lazy and that I can do this. My deadline is tomorrow so I need majority done today with just least minute stuff for tomorrow. Wish me luck on my anxiety/adhd filled cleaning journey.

I LOVE that you have a table in the center of your kitchen instead of an island. It's a gorgeous table too. As always, the nicest thing about you is the way you treat your beautiful little boy. He's a treasure.
Twice daily we have a "door to door" cleaning. Our living/kitchen/dining connect the front and back door so I feel like if the front of the house is presentable and walkable from door to door I can forget what waits down the hall to the "back" of the house.
I just love kid excitement over babies and their things 😍 Xander is mister personality, I so hope his humor follows him into adulthood!

Janine, may I say a word or two of caution from experience. When I was a kid my brother climbed into the counter to reach the candy in the upper cabinets. He fell and hit his mouth on the countertop and he bit his tongue %99 off. It was held on by only a "string". He was rushed to emergency to have his tongue sewn back on. I guess as a kid you want to help or want to reach too high...
My youngest son has a head scar from running to jumping on a sofa and hit a hard object close by instead.
Hey, I am a overly cautious mom too. I watched my kids like a hawk 24/7. But they still get into danger when you turn your back or when you have to use the bathroom...
We love them so much. Even now when my three are 51, 49, 47... 😱 I am always praying God please watch over our kids. God bless you, Dawn

This was wonderful, Jeannine! You make us all feel so normal bc the housework will always be there since we are yes, living in our houses. Once again, Xander was the heart and joy of the video and my husband and I thought it was so sweet when he got excited to carry the bags of baby clothes upstairs. He takes joy in just well, everything and it's so wonderful! What a blessing and a great help tht kids are when we just give them the chance to be involved. I tried to do tht with our little guy as our firstborn but realize I could have went even further...loved Xander's attn to putting the silverware away, carefully placing each piece in the correct slot! I forgot to comment on your video before this one, but I definitely agree about what you said with boys clothes as compared to girls clothes. I felt uncomfortable buying the Itchy frillly stuff for our baby girl way back then bc I had wanted her to wear things that were comfortable while also, being modest. That is what I saw for the most part as a struggle for purchasing clothes for our little girl... So many of the clothes were not modest in appearance. But today, it seems that there are so many more options to choose from. I didn't have access to those nice resale shops when our children were little but that would have been great as well. I also liked the colorful Florals! You might end up finding it easier to dress your girl after all since you have so much support with your sisters and sister-in-law Etc especially since you mentioned many of them sew and so, they can help you out with future dresses. But I know that you sew as well;) My mom made so many of our clothes. By the way, I think your dress is pretty that you have on in this video! But wanted to say yes I agree with the girly stuff... I had even been intimidated by the bows and headbands and didn't ever buy those and now I wish I would have at least bought those. Did I say we just love Xander?! What a great helper Xander is!!! I'm so glad you involve him in the housework, taking care of animals, gardening, etc. It's his house too and he should learn to take care of it. Parents do their children a disservice by not teaching their children to pitch in and care for their home. That nightlight is awesome! I gave my grandchildren a 3D printer for Christmas. Hope they can learn to make cool things! Xander is so sweet.

One room is how I do it, when I look at one room it’s not overwhelming, than I move on to the next, good job! Zander is such a good boy, giving him little jobs, makes him feel so proud, and he sure loves his Mommy! 👍❤️🙏

I agree with the way you picked up each room. Just picking up things from the floor, makes the room feel clean. The dishwasher was the first thing my kids did to help, too. I just love your kitchen so much.

If this is what you consider a disaster you're doing. Pretty darn well, This looks perfect, this is just quick. Tidying not really deep cleaning when things have piled up. And you can't see your countertops because of either illness or something has happened. Or you've been away for a long time. That's a disaster that's what most of us are dealing with when we click on your video.😂
Zander is amazing. I couldn't have my kid however sitting on a kitchen bench leaning down to get items from the dish washer. .

I keep a little winter/Christmas decor up to celebrate the season...snowmen, snowflakes, cardinals, candles...til about the last day of January, then I switch out a little Valentine's/ pre-spring decorations....I'm encouraged to dust!
I am a neatness fanatic married to a slob. It is a constant battle for us - each pulling in our direction.I no sooner get a room cleaned up then he dumps a load of junk in that space. AAARRRGGGH. And , of course , he feels he no sooner brings something in that he wants to work on, and I pick it up to cart it back out to the garage! We have been married 39 years & this has continued throughout that time. Over the years we have each mellowed somewhat over this, but there is no real solution.
Zander is such a sweetheart, and so intelligent.He far exceeds what other 4 year olds can do because he seems to be able to stay more focused than most boys that age.He is certainly excited about the baby coming.
The battles goes on! Lol... I'm not as much of a neat freak but I get you! It seems as soon as you get subduing cleaned that's when they do something over the top dirty and undo everything you did! 🤣🤣 guess it's how we mature. (I hope)

This is so true. Throw an age factor in there …tackling the house days a long gone. I used to general clean once a week, floor boards everything. But now the body doesn’t do it.

I love your home. The rooms are so large, bright and airy. Our home in Scotland is very much smaller. Three bedroom and small kitchen and bathroom. We do have a slightly larger Livingroom than most but I still think in general for a family home it's small. Difficult with three children and a lot of stuff haha x

Thank you so much, I’ve been avoiding cleaning up/packing to move because the change makes me nervous. Having some structure of knowing what to do first/how to get little wins helps a ton.
Also- if you have ADHD, I find it super helpful to keep a small/medium box when cleaning off surfaces for things that don’t belong (if you work in retail, you’re familiar with Reshop- same concept), and having to clear it before stopping for the day/the next task.
Also taking a before pic for section so you can come back to it and really see/notice the difference!

My kids are grown and in college and I recently went back to work as a Nurse in my husbands medical practice …and I’m desperately trying to declutter so we can keep the house more easily …THEN something comes up …I had just gotten our family room redone and then decluttered and kitchen then started working on our bedroom THEN came Thanksgiving …THEN our daughter graduated in Dec. from college and we had a huge party..then Christmas and decorations 😱😱😱now I am still exhausted from all of THAT😱😱😱But I am bound and determined to get this done🥰
