Why the Holes Face Down: • Water Collection: When the holes face down, water can easily enter the pipe from the saturated soil beneath. • Sediment Control: Placing holes down reduces the risk of sediment clogging the holes, as gravity keeps the sediment below the pipe and the perforations are less likely to be obstructed
I am honestly looking to get my partner and I a home as cheaply and sustainably as possible but I want to be able to do things like a wood burning stove, solar panels and a well and self sustainable. That way it’s completely off grid except for maybe a WiFi bill.
Gutters are the worst thing people ever invented... They get clogged. Up with leaves and twiggs and or ice forms in the winter that gets up under your shingles and does lots of damage ... Lots of people break hips and even die from falls every year trying to clean out their gutters...😢 A properly built home should have a 4 ft over hang of soffit from the house walls and a French drain system... Like Frank Lloyd Wright designed in just about every house .. Also a very large overhang will prevent Sumner sun from coming thru and increasing the temp in your house .. and give you a safe space from rain and snow while getting into your home .. Saving you from gutter cleaning forever 😂
@@Gunter_CustomGutters do require maintenance. Most houses are not designed with your ideal 4-foot overhang. People falling off a roof is due to sheer stupidity & lack of common sense safety practices. As much as I would agree that an overhang may be an ideal build, it's not reality

@@landonlandon5533 I'm not arguing that. I've installed several always with holes down. I'm just saying if there is a continuous slope on the trench, it won't sit half full. Its just that the trench has to fill up to above the pipe before it starts draining water so it won't be as effective.
@Gunter_Custom 😄 But buying it from a limited monthly income is out of the question, unfortunately. I forgot to mention our driveway slopes downward... Everything is going up in prices except my check. (Not welfare, money I worked for. But, I won't go there 😡)
@clayjones553 man, I'm horrible at explaining stuff. The road stops from top to bottom, not side to side. But, it does wash out both sides sloping downward. Anyway, I guess my step-father will continue to grate? it until we hit rock 😄

I wonder how many weekend warriors are going to comment on the holes not being right?
Tips:
Gravel not stone
Geotextile is better as stated
There is a pipe for this comes in big rolls

So with a barn build could you do a well that collects the rain water instead of a French drain system like this?
😅😮Vos videos sont toujours sinceres et intelligentes. Merci pour votre contribution a I'education et au developpement de la communaute !💖😎💝😅❤🤮🤧🤗
Why not just put gutters?

We need a video on the overhang and black brackets in the background!
Those appear to jjst be part of the metal truss for the pole barn. We use blackwater truss systems around here and they look like that on the end.

If you left the holes up the trench would sit 1/2 full...
Not it the pipe has fall to drain
@clayjones553 Dude, if you face the holes up, you're in for problems. The holes go down.

A rip off of the French Drain Guy.
Our dirt driveway washes out all the time. Is there an inexpensive way to deal with that? #bouncingmyskeletalframetodeath
Cover it with inches of gravel . 😂

I have the same problem maybe try a trench along the high side of the driveway

The holes in the pipe should be up, not down.
I came here to say that but u beat me to it 😂😂😂
you both are wrong. holes down. look it up
It really depends what you are looking to do. They can go up and they can go down
@@ab-qn7kv Naaaah I'm gonna pass. Will just stick with what has worked for me.
Wrong. 😂
Wrong fabric, roots from weeds will clog the fabric up, and you can buy piping made with the holes in it and in the right way.
The holes should turn upwards not downwards.
I'm a plumber, we do this in iceland.
To upload a video of a French drain pipe with the holes down😂😂😂
Let it sit 1/2 full of water... I'll let you think it over a bit
They are supposed to face down
