This is not your average chicken coop. We designed this chicken coop with some really cool automatic features that make daily chores a lot easier. We are so excited to show you our Modern Farmhouse styled mobile chicken coop. This coop has an attached run and wheels so that you can move it across your yard or field easily. The chicken coop has an automatic waterer and a self refiling feeder made out of PVC pipes, with an extra reservoir so that the chickens can be self sufficient if we go away for a few days. Our layer hens have plenty of space to eat all of the fresh bugs that their hearts desire. We even made this coop to be black and white so that it matches our house and is cute! It is like a pretty chicken tractor! We are excited for our layer hens and all the eggs to come!

I really like the idea of feeding and watering from outside of the coop. Especially nice if someone has to feed the chickens for you when you leave. Excellent coop design! Well done.
Thank you! We wanted to be able to handle all the morning chores from the outside of the coop so that if we were in our church clothes or something, we could still take care of the chickens. -Cara
really a purpose built chicken coop
thanks for watching 😊
You all thought of everything when building this. This is amazing.
Thank you so much! It was really helpful to gather inspiration from others who have done this before too.
Best ever chicken tractor
thank you 😊
This coop looks awesome 👏
thank you so much!
Great job, thanks for sharing My friend God bless you
thank you for watching!
Awesome B-Roll at the beginning there! Such great ideas for a chicken coop!
thank you so much! It was a lot of fun to play around with the drone!
Best mobile coop on youtube! Very well done!
thank you so much 😊
Looks awesome!
Thanks guys for a great video and an excellent presentation!
Thank you and thanks for watching!😊
What a pretty chicken coop. The cantilevered wheel thingy is very clever. It’s a great idea to build in a feeding system that allows you to go away for a few days and leave the chickens. That’s what we totally lack.
Thank you! We just need an automatic door then we will be set haha.
what a fantastic set up. thanks for sharing.
thank you for watching!
Looks great! Very functional, especially with the way the wheels tuck away. Good job y’all.
thank you so much for watching 😊😊
You're very lucky guys, and well done for doing the organic way...love it🥰🥰
thank you so much 😊 Nothing beat organic chicken manure for the grass 😊👍
Love it!
thank you Nicole!
Hi you two what you have done there is so clever and time saving , and as my granddaughter says looks do dam cute . Keep safe Bill and val
Awww tell your granddaughter thank you for us! 😊 -Ryan & Cara
Impressive and very nice looking too.
thank you so much 😊
Love the watering and food setup. Looks very nice with the house. Great idea’s 👍😊💚
thank you! For our other chickens we had a bucket with water nipples and one traditional chicken waterer and the one with the nipples stayed so much cleaner, so we knew we wanted to integrate that into this coop somehow 😊
Wow Cara, great job! You guys did a great job 👍🐔👍
thank you Peggy!! 😊😆
Good morning! That is a cute little coop! I love how it match the house! And being mobile, you can move it around and the chickens can have the benefit of free ranging without the danger from predators. 💖💖💖
Thank you!! Exactly! We have a lot of coyotes on our property, so having them free range makes me nervous 😬
You did a marvelous job building this chicken coop. It has such great features. Having the chicken coop so you can move it around is so beneficial. Thanks for sharing.💕
Thank you so much! It is truly amazing how much greener and thicker the grass is where our chickens were previously, so I am excited for these one to be able to move around and fertilize the front yard too! -Cara
Excellent job!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Super cute 💚🌞
Thank you so much!
So awesome!! I love seeing different coop designs! Great job on the feeding system Ryan! We tried this but our pipes were too narrow for the food so they kept getting clogged. A simple vent hole would likely fix our problem but we just haven't gotten back to that project yet. You guys are the bomb!
Thank you so much! We used 4" pipes so hopefully it is wide enough. Good tip about the vent hole though! Thank for watching! -Ryan & Cara
Seriously considering chickens for laying. This is a size I can definitely work with, not too big and well tricked out. Going to watch the build now!
It is working well for our 5 laying chickens. I’ve upgraded the wheel system, I’ll have that upgrade in a future video. Stay tuned!
I love it.. Beautiful Job!
Awesome set-up for your chickens! 🐓
thank you!
Oh that's very cool!
thank you!
That is one of, if not THE, best coop design/build I have seen! So many cool features! And I feel you on having projects looking exactly like your house due to using left over material lol great job guys!
Wow thank you so much for such a kind comment! We really appreciate that! -Ryan & Cara
Awesome!
thank you 😊
This is a great build! Y’all put in some very practical features and it looks great! 👏🏾👏🏾
thank you so much Sheree! 😊
Hi guys! Awesome set up!! Love the feeder and waterer!! So cool 🌻💕💐
Thank you Anita!
Very nice!!
Thank you!! :)
👍#10🐓💯💯🐣
thank you for watching!
Great job
thank you 😊
Hi guys! This is so smart! I also love how you used leftover materials from your house build. Great ideas...makes me want to start raising chickens again :)
Thank you! We have a large pile still of all our left over materials, so future building will probably match too haha 😂
Really nice chicken coop!
Thank you so much! :)
This is so awesome! Love it! 💕
thank you!! 😊😊
Excellent design. Best one I've seen
Thank you! Cheers!
Such an awesome design! I really like it.
Thank you, I really appreciate that!
just what i want to built, excellent job guys, thank you
thank you 😊
Great coop! I love all of your automated features. We have an automatic chicken door, and we love it! That’s so nice that your coop coordinates with your house, too!
That’s great to hear! What is the brand of your chicken door?
@@bluebirdhomestead ours is Run Chicken
@@HomesteadOnAPrayer great thanks!

@@bluebirdhomestead That is great!
@@adventures707 thank you!
blue bird nice
thank you 😊
I love that it matches the house lol cute
Thank you! I really love that aspect too, I am not going to lie. I wanted something that was pretty as well as functional since it will basically be part of the landscaping. -Cara
@@bluebirdhomestead I'm all for aesthetics. If it doesn't look good, I don't want it lol
@@gardeningwithprincess haha same here
You should have a chain/rope hooked to the bottom of the stairs that you can pull and connect to your handle bar. That way you don't have to get inside to hook it before moving.
I like your video Thank you.
Wow! The best coop I’ve ever seen 👍👍👍 video editing is superb, too 👍👍👍
Wow thank you so much for such a kind compliment! -Ryan & Cara
Hello! Just found your channel today. I love the design. The exterior feeding and watering system is a great idea. Thanks for sharing, and God bless!
Thank you so much 😊

I recommended your video to my cousins who live in a rural/kinda suburban area! ❤❤❤❤
That was so kind of you to do! Thank you 😊
Wow that is pretty amazing 😊
Thank you!
Nice 👍🤚
Thank you 👍
Yeahhhh I'm about to build this great work here!
That’s awesome 👏 😊
Wow your video is so good and nice ilike to watch your video so much thanks you for sharing the great video 👍
thank you so much for watching! 😊
If I ever have room for chickens I would definitely want a coop just like yours Guy’s 💕 I absolutely love it Ryan and how it matches your stunning home 🌸💕🌸
Awww thanks Jasmine!! I really love how cute it is! It worked out that we had some scrap material leftover from our house build!
@@bluebirdhomestead I enjoyed the video where Ryan build it and I really enjoyed the whole process 🌸💕🌸
@@jasminelouisefarrall thank you so much Jasmine! We may post another video going into more detail about the actual build soon.
Wow,that's awesome coop,good job 👌👌👌

@@bluebirdhomestead 🤗🤗🤗
Fantastic build and you can sell them 👍👍 because that is fabulous for chickens 🐓. Have a Blue Bird of a day 🐝 safe 👍👍
Wow thank you so much! I am not sure we have the time to make multiple coops haha, but that's a great idea!
@@bluebirdhomestead get a patent then sell it instead 👍👍
@@myrustygarden mhhh now that’s a thought 👍
That is so cool that you can put in the feed and water from the outside. I want a chicken coupe. Unfortunately, we live in HOA that doesn't allow them. Maybe in our next house.
Oh no! Do they allow quail haha? In our old neighborhood we had an HOA too and they allowed chickens as long as you didn't have a rooster. It's a shame you can't have any!
Saved this video for future reference;) You guys are kickin butt !! Awesome idea and functionality!! Love how easy it is to feed and water.
Cheers guys
Jason and Colleen 🌱🐔🌱
thank you so much guys! We might do a more detailed build video too in the future 😊 I completely forgot to mention roost bars and ventilation in this video haha
@@bluebirdhomestead that would be excellent Cara!! And no worries, if I remember a quarter of the stuff I want to say I'm happy 🤣🤣🤣
@@clivesconundrumgarden Haha, well hopefully that video will be helpful for y'all if you plant to build one in the future!
@@bluebirdhomestead one day 🤞🤞🤞
@@clivesconundrumgarden 😜👍
1st Pretty, 2nd If it is light weight, that is the one I want. I'm not strong any more. Perfect for 5 chickens.
Thank you! It is very sturdy and on the heavier side, just so you know. I would recommend using metal roofing to reduce the weight perhaps.
@@bluebirdhomestead what an excellent design. What are the dimensions?
Great design:) what would you do in the winter for keeping the water from freezing while keeping the chickens warm at the same time? I’m sure ya got some ideas. We live in SD. Freezing winters. But love your easy feed system:)
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
😀😀😀
I’m doing this for my quail!
I do not currently own quail, but be sure to adjust the height of the "run" accordingly so that they have adequate room to fly or be sure they don't 😊-Cara
@@bluebirdhomestead yea I was going to put the coop about an inch off the ground. They currently have something similar but it’s not mobile
@@Black_Samurai-fish Great! I am sure your quail will love the fresh grass 🙂
Great sharing nice recipe 👍🎁🔔👈Great sharing nice video my new friend
thank you for watching!
Could you do a tutorial on how you set up the automatic feeder and water please?? I love this chicken coop!
Thanks! We have a diy build video on our channel for the coop which may help some. We do plan on doing some more videos on the coop in the future. Subscribe so you don't miss them.
I need you to come build me one!
We have a build video if you want to see more of the steps involved 😊
GREAT design - thanks for the video! How many chickens does your design hold?
This was great love the coop hows everyone been

@@FindingHappinessInAllYouDo 😊😊
How many chickens can that comfortably hold? I love this design!!!
This is really a helpful video, thanks! I am just getting ready to build my coop! Do you have a link to where to purchase the cantilevered wheel system? Thanks!
I plan to get chickens this Spring, Lord willing. I absolutely love the simplicity, style and movability of this especially for beginners! Where can I find plans?
thank you 😊 we have a build video on our channel, but we are also hoping to draw up some plans sometime soon.
@@bluebirdhomestead We would definitely be interested in these plans! We are competent and building basic structures but not creative! Excellent mobile coop and exactly what we need for our family.
That's a first class chicken coop right there. And it's nice that you can access the feed, water, and eggs from the outside. Is it easy to move? I mean I saw you move it, but sometimes it is hard to tell.
It is pretty easy to move, but it is a touch heavy though. I think you could easily remedy that by doing a metal roof instead of shingles. That would significantly reduce the weight. We just wanted to use them since we already had them 😊
@@bluebirdhomestead It looked really great. Y'all did a fantastic job on the build.
@@LifewithBlindaandChuck thank you 😊
This is a great coop! Is there somewhere that your plans are available?
thank you! We do have a build video on our channel going into more depth about the build with footage from us building it that may be helpful. No set plans at this time though.
Do yall have a plan/layout/measurements on this specific coop? My hubs and I really want to do this one!
I never understand why people use music with videos…
Great creation! So where are the chickens when you move the coop around? Do they go into the enclosed part?
If we are going a long distance we will put the chickens inside the house portion, before moving them. Typically we only move just to next spot in the yard (that way the grass is fertilized evenly haha) they just stay in the “run” portion when we do that. We just go slow to make sure they all move with the coop. Sometimes one will be distracted and take a second to realize the coop is moving haha, so we just go slow if they aren’t in their house.😊
Well from pakistan
thanks for watching!
Very nice. Do you have any measurements or plans?
There is a more detailed build video on our channel that might be helpful 😊
Great design Ryan! did you come up with those ideas yourself?
Yes, Ryan made the plans himself. We took inspiration from other coops we have seen though.
Looks great. Do you sell the materials list and plans for this?
Thank you! We are hoping to create some plans here in soon. We just came up with the design and materials as we went. We will post an update video as soon as we can :)
Pretty coop. How do you keep predators from digging under?
thanks! We have not had any problems with any predators digging up under the coop thankfully 😊
This is a great coop. You don't happen to have the blue prints or dimensions, do you? I'd be happy to buy them if they are available. Thanks!
Thank you so much! We hope to draw up some plans soon. We do have a video in the mean time of our coop building process on our channel where we show the start to finish that may be helpful for you 😊
One thing I remember from growing up on a farm... Where there's animals there's poop everywhere. 😊
How do you deal with that?
I found it a bit better to have both food and water outside of the roost area.
What do you call that tupe of wheels?
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
They are just universal 10” run-flat tires from our local hardware store. I would suggest getting bigger wheels if you are moving over variable terrain
@@bluebirdhomestead thank you for being responsive.❤️
No problem sorry for the delay! @@Mary-vr3xz
would love to know the dimensions for both the house section and the attached run. I'm trying to build one to pass through gates. Yours is the first I've found that might
ua-cam.com/video/T3gHWw3mjek/v-deo.html
Here is our other video showing the building process for our chicken coop 😊 It should have more specifics on dimensions. If you are building this yourself, you could scale it to fit into your gate area. Hope that helps!
@@bluebirdhomesteadThis coop looks exactly like what we've been looking for! Thanks for sharing. We are newbie baby chick parents & trying to plan ahead for that next step (they are growing up so fast 😍). Just subscribed to your channel~~ happy 1 year on YT, btw! 🤗
@@triciaunderwood8101 Hi Tricia! Thank you so much for subscribing 😀Congrats on becoming chicken parents! I am glad this coop is what you are looking for. We also have a "build" video on our channel that shows a little bit more of how we put it together that might be helpful for you. 😀-Cara & Ryan
Do you guys have plans for the PVC system you used for the water and feed system?
We do have a build video on our channel going into more depth about the build with footage from us building it that may be helpful. No set plans at this time though.
I’m wondering how heavy the lift is in order to move the coop?
Have you ever had predators get to the chickens?
We have never had predator problems when the chickens have been inside this coop or the run. Ryan can lift it and move it around, but it is a little bit too heavy for me. -Cara
how does the waterer work in cold weather? Great looking coop do you have plans?
The water definitely freezes during the winter if you don’t drain it. Still working through some ideas on how to make it winter proof -Ryan
And we don’t have plans, yet
Some "heat tape" wrapped around the PVC might do the trick to keep the water from freezing in the winter. Love the build by the way!
How well does this protect the chickens during the winter months?
Yes 😊 We live in zone 7, so for the most part we have fairly mild winters compared to some parts of the country. Chickens are pretty hardy birds (some breeds more than others though). One of the most important things is making sure they have a place to go that is dry and out of the wind, which this house does. 😊It also gives them a place to be protected from predators.
Do Yal put any kind of light in the coop for when they are locked up?
No we do not have a light inside the house. They are only in the house portion locked up at night when they are sleeping. During the day the door is open and they can get sunshine out in the run portion. 😊 Our hens have never stopped laying even during the winter months.
How do you like the coop now? Is there anything you would change or do different? Thanks!
Do you guys have a link to a plan for that?
How many chickens would that hold?
Good video, love the simple wheel design! I'd leave out the wannabe artistic cuts and slow-mos if I were you - you're dealing with a fairly grass-root topic and showing DIYs, so those effects can be distracting, if not straight out annoying. Good luck with your endeavors!
Thanks for the input
Is there any plans for this coop?
Any chance at a how to build one like it video or instructions?

Here is our build video 😊
For the water in the PVC pipes, would they freeze in the winter?
Yes they will. I’m still figuring out my preferred method during the winter. I’m thinking either install a heating element or just have an alternative water system during the cold months
How many chickens can it house?
Do y'all have a design manual to know how to build it?
