It feels like championship band and DN hype is falling apart. Last year Bruce Brown leaves this year KCP next year AG..I feel like DN path from this point out is only down. And Jokic carrier projection is going in wrong direction stats spiral was going up but from this year forward stats spiral is going down and his window of wining a championship is closing.
What if Denver sign and trade KCP for about 25 milion and then trade him for 2 or even 3 players. For example with Fladelfia, sing and trade (if needed) de anthony melton and one more player, for example Nicolas batum, and trade KCP for it. I think it is win win situation for both franchise and KCP. Same thing can be done with Magic or some other Franchise that want KCP. This way Denver can get more quality players in exchangew for KCP sign and trade, then if they try to get them as a free agents, or via trade, and also have more flexibility with few lower contracts then to resign KCP for 25 milion and go in second appron. There has been talk of a MPJ trade for 2 lower priced rotation players if KCP leaves for nothing, to upgrade the rotation. Why not try to do same thing with KCP if he is already leaving, and keep the Porter. In that scenario, KCP's contract would be around 20-25 million and 2 solid veterans can get without losing MPJ. It is also a good oportunity for other side to clear cup space for KCP
Hot take: going forward, every NBA champion is going to be a 2nd apron team. Meaning, going into 2nd apron doesn't guarantee you a championship, but in order to build a serious contender you have to learn how to navigate that challenge better than the other teams. Just plain avoiding it and hoping for the best ain't it.
Hopefully we'll add some pieces, and I can't say what going into the 2nd apron means for the future of the franchise. Holmes is billed as an athletic stretch big. This is kinda misleading. He is athletic for a college big, but Zeke Nnaji was a much better athlete coming out of college. Daron won't be a plus athlete in the NBA. Zeke was also much more aggressive around the basket and better at finishing in traffic. Daron is seemingly a better shooter, or at least has better range. Although he only had 32 made 3's his junior season and only shot 24% on guarded 3's. He seems to be a better passer/ decision maker than Zeke was in college. But I'm not really sure he gets minutes over Nnaji this season.
