I stumbled upon this totally by accident, and now I'm hooked! This is the third time I've watched it. What an absolute class act Grace Petrie is. Great songs, great band, engaging patter. Consummate professional. I'm now a fan!
Yes, there are so many good folk festivals in the UK at different times of the year. The quality of performances never disappoints. The smaller ones are friendly and the performers are very accessible. Several years ago when Grace played Hartlepool folk festival, I found her outside the hall after her set talking with the interested. When things open up again, this website will be useful to follow. ukfolkfestivals.co.uk/england.php

I should have gone, but I never knew ... I really like Grace Petrie in this concent and great to see local heroine Jasmine Kennedy on bass & backing vocals!
I watched this performance from my holiday home because I hate loud crowds and noises and I loved every second of it, so now I've come back to watch it again.
This is a great recording Before Lockdown I discovered Grace Petrie and had seen her four times in a year. I had 4 tickets to see her last May...how I am missing the live performance. She is fabulous and her audiences are lovely. When I first went to see her, I thought I might (as a 68 year old straight man) feel out of place, but right form the start of the gig I felt included. She is magic.
Discovered this brilliant concert this week. Had heard you on The Guilty Feminist podcast. Love your lyrics, your music, your comments and rapport with the audience! YOU ROCK, GRACE PETRIE!
I was there, too, Callum, but I caught this set. I spent parts of it in tears. Brilliant. And hearing the tent bellowing out the sweary bits of 'Black Tie' was a delight!
@@stephjones9109 Hopefully I've partly made up for my absence by giving a serious boost to the Views tally! Roll on next festival, and to when I will see her postponed show in Edinburgh. All is not lost... ;)
@@camaldo3490 No worries! I will be at Shrewsbury next year, and you will find me with my mandolin in aa many sessions as I can manage, in between the paid acts. I shall raise a glass in the Berwick Bar to those with taste in music!
Ah dammit. Now I’m sitting here sobbing. I was just washing dishes and Black Tie came on, probably the third version I’ve heard today. When you got to the line don’t worry darling it will be all right…a story popped into my mind. A name. Nex Benedict. I’m so sorry, kid. Someone didn’t get the message. Anyway thank you Grace for keeping up the good fight. I hope you reach California sometime soon.
I assumed A Young Woman's Tale was written by Grace. "Learned from Roy Bailey" meaning learned from him how to write such a song? She seems to have songwriting down okay on her own...
I’m pretty sure it’s Grace’s lyrics as a contemporary reworking of Ian Campbell’s ‘An Old Man’s Tale’, which is a great bit of storytelling about the poor being sent off to war after war - def worth a look!

Just watched her on the Chase she never won anything worth watching because there was a very beautiful young lady called Charlotte with beautiful long hair on there
Much as I like Grace Petrie's studio recordings, I'm finding this live performance even better.
It's because you get the stand up comedy too 😁
Just this week I discovered Grace and her band and I am overwhelmed by the wonderful passion of her words and music. Fantastic.
I cannot tell how many times I have watched this performance from the start straight to the end already.

I need more Grace Petrie in my life!
I relate to whoever was telling "we do" when she sang "I'm just trying to make you love me"
*yelling
we do!
Super. We need more like her. Peter Turner.

I'll be at her gig on the 13th November 2021, any (preferably young) Petrie fans wanna link?
I'm going to see her in Nottingham in March if you'll be there?

She seems like a really nice fella.
A good bloke
Very intelligent.. 🙄
To much talking, too political..NOT enough music !
Des Marshall ok des
At the festival there was plenty of music to follow. Excellent tunes and excellent message in my humble opinion.
She might not be your cuppa tea, she is a bloody great glass of whiskey for a lot of us ;-)
Ha, you misunderstood, mate. Most of us turn up for the commentary almost as much as the music.
