Electronic disco music , dolomite sprints , cigarette smoking , brut 33 and men with comb overs . This film is perfect.

SJW free zone. Flares, sideburns, testosterone and leaded petrol.

Best driver ever, getting best lap times smoking a cigar.

Me and my dad saw Gerry Marshall race a mk1 Jag at Donington in the 2000s. Amazing - he got the back end out on every corner far out in the lead.
My dad's name is Gerry and my name is Rex. My dad had a Dolomite, but it wasn't a Sprint.

Gerry Marshall had a big accident in a Triumph Dolomite Sprint and was badly injured. His seat became detached from the car and he was thrown around inside. He did partially recover but was never the same physically.

A super little car (I'm a big Dolomite Sprint fan and one day hope to own one - price and funds permitting) in the hands of a master. Marshall perhaps looked a rather unlikely talent, but he was a real force to be reckoned with in an era where drivers worked hard on-track and they actually looked like they were working hard.

What great days of tin-top racing! Gerry, Tony Lanfranchi and Whizzo Williams! Throw Yogi Muir and Frank Gardner into the mix and we were guaranteed a great evening in the club bar afterwards! I did a lot of marshalling then, and it was great entertainment. All too sanitized now, sadly! (btw, did anyone notice Tony's 'blood group' on his overalls? 'ALE+'). What a character, but then they all were! Racing for the sheer joy of racing!

I watched Gerry race in the Willhire 24 Hour May 1980 IIRC. He drove a Capri...( Looked like he was trying to tear the steering wheel out of the car .) Watching the opening of this video reminded me what his driving style was then...... Compared to Sir Stirling Moss who was in same race driving a Scirocco, who's style was smooth and fluid.

Great to see a Lancia Gamma. Talk about exceeding track limits. No wonder Rouse was miffed. Guy should have raced at Lydden Hill instead.
