  • Опубліковано 20 гру 2023
  • In this episode, Suge talks about how he valued giving back and describes the way he grew up in Compton. Suge opens up for the first time in a long time about Tupac and describes how hard Tupac worked to make Death Row a family and get everyone on the label involved with the making of All Eyez On Me. He discusses how he feels when he hears about rappers who have been killed and how the recent death of Takeoff from the Migos affected him. Suge pinpoints the communication breakdown that occurred between him and Snoop after Tupac died.
    5:32 Suge takes us back to when he first moved into his original neighborhood in Compton. He runs down some of the guys and families he came up with and talks about the role his father played in pushing him
    10:50 Suge talks about the first time he went on tour for The Chronic and shouts out the guys who he put on from his neighborhood
    16:42 Suge talks about opening up a lowrider shop in Compton that was called “Let Me Ride” as a way to provide jobs and give back to the neighborhood
    18:10 Suge says he can talk freely about Pac for the first time in a long time, and how Pac is finally getting justice
    19:03 Suge explains why jealousy is worse than hate
    19:45 Suge recalls a meeting with Tupac and how the name for the album All Eyez On Me was created
    23:14 When Pac gets bigger than everyone on Death Row, the jealousy starts to kick in
    24:23 Suge says he thinks jealousy is what ruined Death Row and says we should never have to go through this again
    27:05 When Takeoff got killed it really hit home for Suge and inspired him to have an illustration made of him that he tried to send to Cardi B and Offset
    29:48 Suge talks about how important it was that Death Row was the first place where you could see Bloods and Crips gang members working together and getting along together
    30:48 After Suge went to jail in 1996, he wanted to put Snoop in position to lead the company. But they never had a chance to talk after Snoop got turned away at the visiting center
    32:19 Suge addresses the NFL for promoting gang activity and not understanding the reality of how many people have lost their lives and are doing prison time
    34:16 Suge talks about plans to make Death Row the biggest music distributor in the game

      And that's also why the majority of the production off the Makaveli album came out of the wack room as the other artists on Death Row referred to it as. He made what those artists referred to as wack absolutely legendary. Cause he was willing to give even those labeled as wack a fair opportunity and a shot, that was the genius in his artistry. Read this again: Suge Knight refused to identify the people who murdered his friend and even paid one of the murders money to keep himself out of prison. Keep in mind he was once a multi-millionaire with one of the most lucrative companies in the world.. He's been stripped of not only his freedom, but also his once 'UNTOUCHABLE' company. Very few people would be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel if they were where Suge is. Let me say this- what this Black Man accomplished is admirable. He laid a blueprint for all black men, showed blacks how to go from a worker to a boss. This may never be duplicated again, but it is definitely something to shoot for. I’m proud of the Man, as far as business goes, he handled his shxt, his enemies can’t even dispute that .

    • @707boogiemonster
      @707boogiemonster 6 місяців тому

      What do u mean never be duplicated? If you mean in the music business, its what everybody is doing by being independent. u can just look at damn near every independent rap label there is. If you mean a black man trailblazing of course it will. There will always be the first black man to do anything thats new. There will be a first black man on the moon. Whenever something new is accomplished by any man or woman of any race you can be sure other races will follow and somebody has to be the first. Suge deserves more credit than he gets. He’s legendary, but this dick riding where u just say shit cuz it sounds like it should be on a hallmark card but doesnt mean anything is out. I dont know Suge but i feel like he wouod appreciate a head nod a dap or a salute than u kissing ass treating him like he’s the savior of the black race.

    You can hear a man speaking that the fullness of time has changed & matured. Someone who changed the course & impacted hip hop, for better or for worse his contribution, at his age has yet to be matched or replicated. I hear wisdom & reflection as he speaks about the historic events that were a backdrop to many of our lives. He made choices & tried to do something that had never been done, amidst the violence & the treachery of the streets. He tried to help his family & peoples in his own way! It wasn’t perfect & wasn’t always right, yet he still tried to put people on. I’m sure if he had the mindset he has now through having to endure life & the hand he has been dealt it would probably be a different story. All respect to you Mr Knight. Your words & thoughts are paramount to the culture of hip hop at this time. #Salute!

I used to talk to your aunt as she sat on her porch when I was like 10-11 years old walking to the store, and she would share with me her plans to drive to California for the summer in 1982. My first time in Compton was summer 1983 visiting family, so it was good to hear you breakdown that time frame. RIP to Franco, Aunt Zelda's husband. Peace

    Suge touches on some stories about people from the neighborhood who had integrity and good hearts who he learned from.
    Gives an example of a homie from the neighborhood who was a good person and was killed by a jealous person from the neighborhood.
    Mentions that the people that played a part in Pacs murder or destroying him, Suge has the receipts still.
    Talks about how Pac tried to include everyone at Death row in his success, tried to put all the artists on his tracks or production, wanted to include everyone in getting paid off his projects.
    "When Pac became bigger than everyone else on Death row, that's when the jealousy kicked in" from other death row artists.
    @23:10
    "I guess that's when the plot kicked in, that's when the plan came up" (to get rid of Pac)
    Talks about how to this day Snoop is sick of being outshined by Pac even after he is dead, same with Dre.

    Hey DAVE, Love the work you and Suge and put in through all the years. i have a tremendous question for him. How do you tell the real deathrow chains from the fake. how much are they worth. and what where the different higherarchy levels of the chains. much love ya'll. Id love to chop it up with the Triple OG suge knight
