I am trying to get more into trout fishing and I was wondering what size line you would recommend for trout. Some say go bigger and other say go smaller what do you think?
What is the length of your floro leader? Ever use scent? I have found that there are times laker switch off and times they are active without rhyme or reason! The availability of bait seems to be a factor.
Great question, good sir! If you’re tying a uni-to-uni knot thats going to be reeled into your eyelets before a cast, you can go as long as 30” if you prefer it to be on the longer side. Personally, I’m comfortable with 20-24”. it’s an idea of personal comfort when fishing around rocks. Because Lake Trout have a tendency to sometimes inhale the bait really hard, the leader line also acts as a mechanism to protect from teeth doing potential damage and as a slight shock absorber. Thanks for watching!
Good Stuff Dom! Make a live bait for Lake Trout video! I did my 1st Burbot 2 weeks ago in Milwakee. Five Burbot later I want to chase down some lake trout! I do have all the Warpigs I might try those. It would make for a great video on my channel! Happy Fishing!

I haven’t personally played much with the scent factor, but this autumn I am planning on trying out some Pautzke krill or shrimp oil stuff.

You’re the man, Mark! If you enjoy power fishing especially in the cold, they hit like a TON of bricks !
