Use a knife and fork!! A knife for cutting food, fork for picking up the food. Why do Americans insist on using the side of a fork to cut food??
Chip butties - yours were dry because you had no butter, salt/vinegar and usually tomato sauce on the chips.
Beans on toast is a light meal/snack.
Beans with eggs, bacon etc sausage etc is an 'English breakfast
Yorkshire puddings are vastly over rated however they are rarely eaten by themselves, but as part of a full meal with roast meat, potatoes, vegetables and gravy.

If you ever make Yorkshire puddings again, the batter needs to be thinner, and the fat in the tins needs to be smoking hot, so that the liquid batter spits and splutters when you pour it in. That's what makes them puff up and turn out crispy, light and airy.

Maybe consider trying the beans again but allow them to cook down for around 10 minutes. The sauce thickens up and loses a lot of the sweetness and the beans soften a little too.

@@SamanthaandWade I love watching people discover British foods! For the beans on toast they’re a lot better with some grated cheese on top, as for Marmite it’s definitely an accquired taste but the golden rule is to always use less than you think…then use less than that 😅 It’s also great as an ingredient, a teaspoon in a stew, gravy or something like a pasta meat sauce will really amp up the savoury flavours.

Well done for making the effort! As others have said, Yorkshire puddings are best as part of a roast dinner (for pronouncing "shire" refer to your state of New Hampshire).
The chip butty needed cheap sliced bread and plenty of butter and salt and (malt) vinegar.
Beans on toast is pretty dull but is OK with strong cheddar grated on top.
Marmite - best to put a trace amount on in blobs rather than spread it - no matter how thin you spread it it will be too much!
Thanks for the fun video and good luck!

Though Yorkshire (say: "York-shuh") Puddings are traditionally eaten as part of a Roast Dinner (usually Roast Beef,) during the Second World War, during rationing, when meat was scarce, Yorkshire Puddings were used to 'fill people's stomachs'.
They would be served with gravy before the main meal, (so that people would be ok with the small amount of meat they were likely to be served with,) and then after the main meal, as a dessert, served with hot jam.

My Missus would be well jealous of how you got those Yorkshuh puds to rise on your first go.
To explain.. OBVIOUSLY she's been making them for years with no issues but as of late my youngest daughter has developed a SERIOUS dairy allergy so we've had to change the milk to Soya.
We've also changed the Gas Cooker to Induction so the Yorkshuhs have gone a bit wibbly wobbly !
She finally sussed it on last Sundays Roast.
She was making it too thick !
Loving your reactions even if I am a bit late to the party.
I think some of the issues are that American bread is pumped with sugar ?
My Bro lives in New Hampshire and he can't wait to come back here to pig out on everything you really shouldn't !!

baked beans i add a little more ketchup or brown sauce, or sometimes i mash them up into a paste and spread on toast, but they do go well with chips, fried scalloped potatos.
sprinkle grated cheese over the top gives it a good taste. as a kid we had beans on toast for a snack or supper time...
yorkshire pudding can be both sweet and savory, i add sugar to the mix then place diced apple or pear into a flat high sided baking tray, goes really well with birds custard
or have it with sunday dinner but its a all round food...
get a dozen sausages oven bake and then 5 minutes before they cooked ad the yorkshire mix and finish cooking for toad in hole... we also used to add UK style cornedbeef instead of sausage.
to me yorkshie pudding is a all round use dough, you can use it for sweet icecream treats, we make tubes and fill them with icecream and have fruit with it...
make some more and drizzle choclate sauce over the top and have them with icecream.
marmite is good used correctly, thin layer on toast no butter... (butters for wimps) or you can add a tea spoon of it into a beef stock gravy, really beefs up the taste.
the problem is taste testers on youtube jump in and get a knife full and spread it around and then eat it and get the sickly feeling because they dont know how to eat it correctly.
next time you at the world market or buy online look for vegimite, he will like marmite more than vegimite...

Great to see you try The chip butty, the beans / spaghetti hoops / rings (which is what we call them here in England, UK) on toast , the marmite (personally i do NOT love it, but i like it. Although I can take it or leave it depending on how I'm feeling about it.
I am very happy and pleased you tried the Yorkshire Puddings (with and without the gravy) as it's from Yorkshire, England where i am born and bread from. Us Yorkshire people usually have Yorkshire puddings every Sunday on our sunday dinner (roast chicken dinner/ beef dinner / pork dinner) and also at Christmas. I don't know anyone from Yorkshire or who lives in Yorkshire that doesn't have Yorkshire Puddings at Christmas aswell as on their sunday dinner(s).
I would rececomend you try HP Brown Sauce on the beans on toast, especially if you put (grated) melted cheese on there. Personally i can eat beans on toast with melted cheese and brown sauce , but preferably just prefer beans on toast full stop. I also recommend you try the HP Brown Sauce on your chip butty aswell , because its just as good as ketchup / tomatoe sauce. I can't stand mustard though Personally.

Since your opinions of Marmite are: 1) Hate it with a passion and 2) Don't hate it, but don'r love it either, you appear to be landed with an almost full jar of Marmite, and nothing to do with it.
Can I suggest using a couple of spoonfuls (spoonsful?) of Marmite stirred into the stock of a casserole whenever you make one. You won't get any flavour of Marmite in the completed casserole, but it will 'enhance' the flavour incredibly, making the stock meatier and more savoury.

Yorkshire puddings are an absolute staple here in the UK when accompanying a good Sunday roast! Roast beef and Yorkshire's with roast potatoes and plenty of veg and stuffing and a rich gravy poured on top! Delicious.
Yorkshire puddings are also great for 'Toad In The Hole'. Toad In The Hole is basically sausages baked in the oven in larger Yorkshire puddings and are great served with peas, mashed potatoes and gravy.
I'm Welsh and I was brought up on dishes such as laverbread, Cawl, leek soup, Welsh rarebit and of course, Glamorgan sausages which are the best, but generally, all across the British Isles, we all love the same dishes including other classics such as Cottage Pie, Shepherd's Pie, Corned Beef Hash, Steak and Kidney Pudding and for the less squeamish - Liver and Onions (my favourite actually) which I eat with buttered cabbage, bacon, mashed potatoes and you guessed it.....a rich onion gravy!

Well done, folks, for trying unfamiliar things. Beans on toast is not really a meal but a snack. It's for when you don't have much time or much in the
cupboard. It can easily be perked up with a good twist of black pepper or a drop of Worcestershire (or hot) sauce. Chip butties are normally made
with sliced white bread and need some kind of sauce, whichever you prefer. Marmite is super strong and should only be used in tiny amounts until
you get used to it. However, it is massively good for you being super high in B vitamins. Top tip, a LITTLE bit of Marmite stirred into a stew or pasta
sauce does wonders for the flavour. It also makes a warming drink with hot water for those frosty winter mornings (but I'm not sure if you have
those where you live). Please carry on with tasting what little of our food you can get and good luck with the caravan/camper/trailer?.

Fun video, thank you! I have a few tips if you want to try any of them again, but you did a great job experimenting: 1) Your bread looked a bit dry for the chip sandwiches/rolls. I think a cheapish very soft sliced bread works best, with butter and plenty of sauce. We also put salt and malt vinegar on the chips to add a bit of sharpness and saltiness which balances with the creamy butter. 2) Beans on toast -- a lot depends on the accompaniments, you did it "regular" which is fine but probably the most boring way. Butter the toast, maybe add some brown (HP) sauce, or some grated and grilled cheese on top, people also like it with eggs sometimes. The meat is a good idea, that's almost like a "fry up" (fried breakfast) which is very popular in the UK. 3) Marmite - I don’t think you did anything particularly wrong or could try something else, it’s just something you like or don’t like. 4) Yorkshire puddings - I think you’re talking about profiteroles (choux pastry usually filled with cream and sometimes topped with chocolate or fruit coulis), and that’s not “too” dissimilar, but those are sweet and difficult to make. Something went wrong if they tasted of egg, so maybe check the recipe on BBC Goodfoods. I use 3 eggs, which I think is normal, so maybe you got that a little wrong, especially if your eggs are big. I couldn’t tell exactly but maybe your mixture was a tad thick, and it’s best to pre-heat the tray with oil so that it’s super hot (almost smoking hot) before you add the batter. This will make the Yorkshire pudding rise better and be fluffier and crisper (perhaps yours was too cold and the batter didn’t quite cook enough so it ended up a big eggy somehow?) It’s traditional to have Yorkshire pudding with roasted beef and onion gravy. 5) Spaghetti hoops on toast - no problem there really, but you’re right it’s a kids’ meal (in my view at least). American foods tend to be a little bit saltier and sweeter, so that might be a slight difference from the UK version.

Thank you! We love all of the tips! I actually thought the oil was super hot, but maybe my batter being so cold and thick made it cook that way. I for sure will be trying to make them again, but they weren't bad, just different plain! lol I will check into that recipe as well! :)

People seem to be being very critical in the comments! I think you guys were super respectful and interesting! But, alas, my tips hehe:
    - Chip butties - bread rolls ARE okay, but they should be soft ones if used, and sliced bread is most common. And the bread should be buttered, and the chips ketchupp'ed!!
    - Beans on toast - you do need to butter the toast, and eat with a knife and fork :) beans on toast is definitely eaten any time of day, which you correctly said! Popular for breakfast or lunch or as a small dinner! And we'd also have beans for breakfast as part of a full English, which you should also try!
    - Marmite - thank you for doing this so reasonably rather than not buttering the bread and overloading the marmite spread! I love Marmite and now eat it even on it's own, but I'm used to it aha. It's really popular in cheese toasties or in a cheese sandwich, and you can get marmite crisps, ricecakes, cheese, crackers, etc now! I promise you if you keep trying it, you'll get used to it and like it more and more!
    - Yorkshire puddings - wow! Amazing! People tend to have these in roast dinners, which traditionally are eaten on a Sunday. Toad in the hole is like a giant Yorkshire pudding with sausages baked inside it, normally served with gravy and mash potato and peas.
    - Spaghetti hoops - these were such a childhood for me. I'd have them on toast with scrambled egg on the side! They are often had with fish fingers, too!
Pleas try more British things! I'll be watching ALL your food trying videos over the next week hehe. And if you ever want to do a swap with someone in England, I'd love to swap a box of food with you :)

Re the beans - you would never eat that much beans on a slingle slice of toast ! Beans on toast is not normally a breakfast snack. Part of the beauty of beans on toast is nice crisp toast with melting butter....perhaps you can explain why you are not able to use a knife to cut the bread? GOOD TRY THO :-)

Well you did give it a chance but the chip sandwich batch no you need butter bread and no cheese. Beans on toast beans low heat stir untill bubble and if you would like add some cheese fresh toast with butter on it . Marmite it is love or hate . Now Yorkshire pudding not as thick more and get that pan in the oven with lard or oil get it hot take it out quickly and keep the oven door closed to keep the heat add the batter mix then back into that hot oven don't open untill cooked or they will drop and and then when cooked add to a pot roast dinner with gravy

We’ll done for having a go - I luv all of these foods but none looked appetising because they were all bodged chip butty chips very thick hot salted lots of butter sliced loaf bread - if you must have sauce ( I don’t) then daddies / hp brown - rolls just don’t work - under toasted bread no butter and too many beans don’t work - marmite is like first time tasting whisky yuk but keep trying and eventually becomes almost addictive - Yorkshire puddings just wrong without a roast + a top notch gravy ( best to stir in a spoon of Dijon or colmans mustard ). Other than those faults you done perfect 😂.

They are a comfort food for adults because they remind them of childhood.

I live in London, here in the uk we only have 2 sauces for the chip bitty, one is red sauce/ ketchup or brown sauce/ which is like a steak sauce. Or you can get your chip nutty with salt and vinegar and that’s it. Proper chippy food. The Yorkshire puddings are basically used on Sunday roast dinners where you put sliced roast beef and gravy on top and they are basically used to suck up the gravy as a bread substitute but loads better. But you don’t eat them plain, and also before pouring in your mixture you need to rub your pan with proper lard and place in oven to heat up really good then pour your mixture in and bake them off. You keep slacking marmite let me remind you that during the war marmite helped a lot of families with kids get by during rations. Spaghettios is not a British dish, beans on toast is lovely if prepared properly which clearly from what I seen you do not know. Anyway, I suggest you do some research before . Mustard is not a known sauce for the chip butty. Send me a reply and when I come over to America I’ll stop by and show you guys how to prepare and educate you on when to eat these. Marmite comparison to sardines ??? Dude, stick to deer hunting and fishing .. lololol.
