Shinichi, thank you and your lovely mother for this recipe. I loved hearing you talk to her in Japanese, it reminds me of my late mother. I was craving egg plant so I bought some the other day but couldn't decide how I wanted to make it. Now, I'll use this recipe for our dinner tomorrow: hot rice, salmon patties, and this egg plant recipe. Thanks again! ❤
Your mom’s recipes are samples of elegant basics. So nice to see her!
Mom sure enjoys spending time with you, Shinichi…♥️
Have you ever considered having her live with you?
I love eggplant, & will definitely start making Mom’s recipe. 🥢
I love the way they look growing in the garden, so pretty.
I think the smaller looks better and easier to eat 😋 and great with rice.
Your mother seems like a very nice cooking teacher. I have the patience of a Tasmanian Devil! I am so glad she is willing to share with everyone.
Spicy eggplant is delicious!🍆 I will definitely make this. Your mother is the beautiful source of many dishes I love to make--Nishimi, Tofu & Veggies, Shumai (veggie), and Kimchi; and, for my carnivorous friends, Japanese-Style Sweet & Sour Meatballs, and Kalua Cabbage! All your mom's dishes get rave reviews! Thank you for the recipes and, more than that, for the privilege of seeing your wonderful mother and your heartwarming interaction with her. Much love, and continuing prayers for your mother's good health. 💖💖
This would go great with the chicken wing recipe from your mother! You made a video years back sharing that recipe and it's one of our favourite. And if you chop this eggplant up it would be a great onigiri filling :)
She's so cute! Thank you to Shinichi's mum again! 😊❤
I love your mother so much. She makes me miss my own, and the way she calls you “dear” is so heartwarming. Thank you for sharing her with us, and treasure every day you have her.
Well, thing is, she doesn't (call him "dear). I guess it's just his way of translating her tone or something implied, but strictly speaking, she doesn't say "dear"...
I tried this recipe and most of your mom's other recipes over the years. GOOD!!! Enjoyed them and love you and your mom.
Shinichi, thanks to you and your mother for this delicious recipe! I want to make it. I love nasu. I actually like the eggplant peel. Does anyone ever leave it on? Is it a matter of personal preference? I have not eaten this dish previously. Best wishes to you, your mother, Satoshi, and your sister as well. Thanks for the video!
It’s so good to see your mom! She looks great!
your mom is so cool and these videos are so special! i would love to go with my grandma to Oahu one more time (but the first for me) but i think it would be a tiring trip for her
Your mom is so precious. I like how she calls you "Dear." So sweet.
I love eggplant. This looked so good and so easy to make. Can the marinade be used on any other vegetables?❤
Your Mom knows the best dishes that match the Season.
Looks so delicious! I'll try to make this in the summer when we have eggplants handy!
So excited to try this! I love eggplant especially something that is cold and spicy. Will need to save this for the summer.
I will definitely give it a try . Thank you for sharing your Mom's recipe. ❤
I have made this 3 x already. Very easy and tasty! Thank u for sharing this recipe!❤
This looks really good. I have all the ingredients for the Kimchi. But, I still have to make it and I will try this next. I love Eggplant.
I'm always looking for a vegetable recipe or one for the summer table. The kimchi recipe was a hit, so l can't wait to make this and try .❤
Looks nice! Your mom is so lovely
Just teied this recipe and it’s so easy and delicious! Thank you for sharing!💕
love your mums recipes coz they are abit detailed which I think is more authentic. Many others do simplified recipes to suit Gaijin ...LOL
Your mom looks amazing 🎉
Come on, did she get a little work done? So Beautiful ! ♡♡♡♡

Her kimchi is delicious and really easy to make arigato gozaimasu
Your Mom's Nihongo is such a comfort to this Yonsei. I miss hearing my Grandmother's gentle chat so much. People say Japanese news, although that really is nothing like home speech
I love cooking with your Mom ❤🎉
I will try this recipe! Thank you Mom❤
Japanese cuisine can be daunting for non-cooks as some might consider it 'fussy' but your Mom demonstrates that it doesn't have to be and can simultaneously be soooo delicious! I'm still waiting for your Mom's cookbook 😀😋! Blessings on her and you!
美味しそうですね!良い茄子を見かけたら作ってみます!いつもありがとうございます!❤
I’ve been obsessed with eggplant lately so this is looking delicious. ❤ Does it matter what type of vinegar?
You both look beautiful 🎉 I will definitely try this one ❤
Looks delicious!😋👍🏽
Greetings from Redondo Beach 🇺🇸Nice cooking video. Arigato 🥂
Looks delish 😋
I have all the ingredients for that, including an aubergine that needs to be used soon. Looking forward to trying the recipe.
And there it is, in the fridge, marinating until I get back home later. That was really quick and easy.
Instant like!^^
Love nasubi❤
Have a safe trip home, Shinich ^ Niki Niki's okaasan. Wishing you many more trips to Japan.
Hi Shinichi. I sent you a package while I was in Tokyo. I didn't realize that it would take a week for you to get it. But the tracking number said you received it on the 26th. I hope you like it. You can put a small light under it to illuminate the picture inside.
I would also have been told off by your mom for cutting it up too small! I think I would have instinctively made them bite-size! Looks delicious, though, absolutely fantastic with some freshly cooked rice.
Your mom looks younger every day.
Did we forget about how to make the sauce? Is it shoyu, rayu, sato, su, and just mix?
😘😘❤️😍🥰🤩🌈🙏💯🌹
