Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture. With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Just so you know, you helped me educate the medical taxi driver taking me up to chicago for appt. He didn't know difference between beans and corn and fell out laughing when he saw sprayer on the road. He couldn't get over the unfolding or the various sprayers he saw, some on corn, some on beans. He was puzzled why anyone would live all alone out in countryside and was puzzled how old nurse knows about post emergents, fertilizers, etc. Learned a good bit when did detassling crew first aid but you helped a lot.

Hate to see crops being grown healthily and allowing a more bountiful crop? Must not have seen an organic corn or soybean field before. Weed infested and shit yields and that doesn't matter even if you cultivate it multiple times. Weeds take up the nutrients and moisture choking out the crops. Chemicals are usually sprayed at the younger stage of the crops so there won't be any in the end product at all.

My Grandmother used to say that when crops started coming in and everything started to turn green that it was
"Changing from black and white to Technicolor." A reference to a time when film technology was changing to color film.

I think what you are reffering to is what we call in the UK a surfactant or commenly a "wetting agent" which reduces the surface tension of the spray. Before a specific chemical surfactant was developed we used to add liquid soap to our tank mix which essentially does the exact same job but only a fraction of the cost.

With your 1975 truck, pressing the accelerator pedal to the floor quickly and then slowly releasing the pedal before ignition will start your truck much quicker. Pressing the pedal quickly sets the choke and slowly releasing the pedal allows for gas to be pumped into the carburetor. 👍🏻

Because too many haters just saying farmers are ruining the ground. It's there property they have to pay for that chemical the less they use the more money they make. There are haters that have said on this channel that Zach is pouring chemical into the ground. He would not use any if the weeds did not out grow the crops, but they must use some chemical. I am tired of reading comments from people that know nothing about farming.

Hey just a little help . When you cold start the 75 truck just mash the excellerator down one time and let off easy . Don't pat the excellerator . That will set the choke and it will start easy .

Our 4730 JD sprayer's gps was doing circles while parked this spring 🤦🤣. We run Trimble guidance systems though. It was the sensor on the wheel and cable that needed replacing. I don't know about JD guidance systems though.

I personally use glosophate for my personal gardens... makes it quick and easy. Have you recieved any hate for using it? Anything you can say that makes it worth using? Love the channel, keep up the great work!

I watch a few farming channels, I note how religiously everyone checks their oil. No-one, takes the 2 minutes to knock the big chunks out of the air filters. Fuel is expensive, and more air equals more efficient engine. It would be interesting to see how much you would save on fuel and repairs by just banging the dust out of the filters each morning. Or just giving them a good blow out once a week.

Air flow meters are a thing most modern engine's have them

And it just keeps reducing power as the air cleaner clogs up and it sees less air. A sensor doesn't generate airflow, and a turbo trying to suck a golf ball through a garden hose doesn't make more power. I see them paying (or being paid) for tunings with various claims for increased horsepower and torque. That goes away when the air flow is reduced. Dollars to donuts that Zach never leaves the pits with a mud covered air filter when he's racing. You are trying to make the engine work less hard and cooler to generate the same or greater power. Electronics are great, but it's still air, fuel, and compression (or spark, choose your poison).
I saw that some farm equipment now have a reverser on the radiator fan to blow out the dust and chaff. What a concept, a cooler engine works better. I know, it has a temp sensor to reduce power to stop it from overheating, the reverser is totally unnecessary. Some diesel engines had a shaker inside the exhaust to knock the big chunks off the exhaust diaper to reduce back pressure.
In a high dust environment regular cleaning of the air intake is not left to every 1000 engine hours.
      It was an observation.

Hell I thought you got rid of the strip till. I’d vote for getting everything ready then hit record. I was excited for you last fall, with the strip till until it wasn’t going good again. I really hope it works this fall and beyond for you.

Thanks for using precautions around the chemicals. I lost my brother to cancer (non-hodgekins lymphoma started it, pancreatic finished it). He farmed in White, SD in the 80's and never wore gloves, etc.

Nothing to do with farming can get cancer from anything
