forces is clearly superior for having more levels (jokes aside though, this made me realize how slow the boost in shadow gens is and somehow still works just fine, probably because of how condensed the levels are)
I did also feel like the boost in Shadow Generations is a very slight difference between the normal running speed, while in Forces in certain sections, it really is fast and not just motion blur/effects trickery.
Ye, the effect is achieved from the change in camera field of view, farther distance, motion blur (not in Forces btw), and the motion lines (which I didn't realize actually change direction in Shadow Generations until I made this video)
And Sunset Heights is generally "criticized" by Forces haters for having a tad more linear stage design than the other levels. And please explain to me where the problem is. Where was the level design in Forces?
Look, I have a soft spot for Sonic Forces… But this really just goes to show how far we’ve come in the last seven years (God it does not feel like it’s been that long since Sonic Forces)
Network Terminal in Forces is the stage where I could cut the most time in this comparison. I could also cut down a significant amount of time on Sunset Heights Act 2 though.
Mortar Canyon is the only Modern Sonic level in Forces without a 2D section, just like the Act 1 levels and Radical Highway Act 2 being fully 3D. We definitely need more 3D levels without any 2D sections
There are so many little things with good timing, which is impressive considering I made the video on a computer with no speakers. (Hence why there's no audio and I just put an extended version of the song)
There's no way a Sonic game that like, ends in the span on a footstep is longer than the 5 star meal rendition (SXSG Sunset Heights) of a 2-3.5 star School Lunch (SF Sunset Heights) at best But one thing we can all agree on, is that BraondJ's Sunset Heights is genuinely a Gordan Ramsay styled meal
To be fair, Chaos Control messes with the timer, and the sheer amount of Forces levels beats out Shadow Gens. The Challenge Acts would've beat it out too.
Forces ended up having "technically" more content, but the fact that this is a race worth having is both embarrassing for Forces and makes me really happy Shadow Gens is so good. (Also you did forget the challenge levels in Shadow's sunset heights. Not sure if they would skew the results, but they are required in the game and count as stages in sunset heights."
I figured if I included the challenges I would also have to include the Extra and Secret Forces levels, which are like 30 seconds and I actually refuse to play.
Forces is just so short from all modern sonic levels feeling the level design is dogshut because you just boost and hold yet platforming is still relevant in forces, but Shadow generations did superior from sunset heights (from forces) to improve the music and the level design. Damn Shadow Gens levels are goated including this one.
Interesting to compare a game with 12 Stages to one with 24 Stages, Quality Vs Quantity. Though it’s not really a fair comparison considering Shadow Gens had 10 Level Designers and Forces only had 3.
I was told the original concepts for the levels were much longer, but were "significantly shortened for beginners", noticeably in Lost Valley we were originally supposed to get wall jumping and in Sunset Heights which still has some of it's leftover prototype version the bridge from Metal Sonic's boss fight opening and the Avatar's underground section were originally in Sonic's stage

@@Breeze926 I still think most of the effect is made by the camera but I also pretty sure it's slightly slower, in white space is diabolically slow

It does feel like 2017 was a long time for me, but that's because I was 8.
@@Kelps.mp4 yup
I also have a soft spot for Forces hence why most of the levels are pretty optimized runs.
@@Kelps.mp4 This hurt to read (I was 15)
@@Breeze926 Why did it hurt?
Shadow gens still manages to be much longer even though the player is speed running😂

2.9 Forces levels passed in the span of 1 Shadow Gens level.
Wow.
I didn’t realize how much of a banger the song is until now
The piano at the very beginning makes a statement.
watching this feels like that old sega gensis ad where they compare it to the snes and the genisis is just far more interesting
Shadow Generations has blast processing.
Example of quality over quantity
IS THIS THE JAPAN VERUS CHINA PRODUCTIONS REFERENCES?

Thats literally been the staple since Frontiers. 3D and 2D aren't mixed
I think we can all agree that Sonic is the Fastest thing alive) While Shadow walks through only one level Sonic got through five)
The point was that the forces levels are so short
That was a joke dude.
2 levels vs nearly the entirety of forces
4:02 why did it time so well with sonic hitting the snake😂

1.5 min difference... wow I didn't expect that

@@lokic-ug2scIt's funny how even with Chaos Control cutting like a minute of the timer It's still 3 minutes, more than any other stage.

4:27→5:24 Remake vs Original
Man is *SPEEDRUNNING* Shadow Gens and playing Forces casually and Forces is still shorter

Interesting you say that yet both games are 3 hour long.
Its incredibly fair

Crazy how sonic forces finished 3 stages while shadow gens finished one. (I say 3 since the final qte in luminous carries the length

three and a half levels in one, and zero 3D. Incredible
This song is legendary
But black doom ruined it when you travel to radical highway
OG Sunset Heights lighting > ShGens SH lighting
Sorry I dont like yellow piss filter
Nah, Sunset Hights in SHG it's definitely prettier

1 shadow level is almost like 3 forces levels wtf was sonic team on back in 2017

Listen say what you will of sonic forces but I'd like to see you make a sandwich mid shadow generations level.
I am taking this video 100% seriously. Forces >>>>>
Didnt even include the Tag Team levels‼️
