Cannot stress enough how important Drew Doughty is to the Kings. Him being injured throughout round 1 of the playoffs really affected the Kings, because now it was a relatively inexperienced defense against Conor McDavid. Super proud they pushed that Oilers team to 7 games, and if the team can stay healthy, I’m hoping we have a rematch round this upcoming season.

    • @magicman6346
      @magicman6346 Рік тому +2

Ya I totally agree with you on that one drew doughty is a huge part of the kings still I’m an oilers fan but ya I was surprised and amazed that u guys pushed us to game 7 him being injured was a huge disadvantage for you guys and hopefully both our teams are fully healthy and we can have a more fair rematch!!!!

    • @trburns826
      @trburns826 Рік тому +2

When Doughty was ruled out for the playoffs I felt it took the ceiling of the Kings from reaching the Conference Final to possibly winning a round. Having a 30 min anchor on the blue line during the playoffs to me is the 2nd most important position to goaltender. It was clear not having someone that could contain McDavid was the overall difference in the series. With the addition of Fiala and not playing in the playoffs you're going to see a very motivated Drew this season.

@@06rtm Proud. Not many people even had the Kings making the playoffs this year since this past season was technically still a rebuild year. Not only did they make it, but pushed a pretty stacked Oilers team to 7 games (hell even had a 3-2 series lead) without their elite defenseman and one of their top forwards? Yeah that’s really impressive.

I wouldn't say Mikko is flashy at all. Mikko can be flashy, and should be flashy and you scream at the TV for him to do something, to show up at some point then you look at the stat sheet and see he has 25 points in 20 games and you're like how to hell! Honestly I'd say Gabe and even Compher had more flash than Mikko especially on the cup run.

I would put Landeskog above Eichel for the very reason you state in the vid. Landy has those qualities, and Eichel has shown the opposite at times. Jack is more skilled, for sure. But one just lifted the Cup and the other has yet to play a NHL playoffs game. Say what you want about the teams around them, but a lot of that falls on the captain.
Not saying I would take Landy over Eichel right now (because of the age difference) but looking at what they have done so far, it would be hard not to.

Entertaining premise! I would have placed Jordan Staal and Bobby Ryan higher than Seguin, Laine and Reinhart, principally because they’ve been superior playoff-in addition to quality regular season-performers. In retrospect, Eichel might have peaked several seasons back and thus might slide down this list behind Landeskog.

Svechnikov concerns me. He has that Alex Semin thing going on imo - where he absolutely has the skill set to go 40/80 in under 80 games, but just seems to refuse to play to his potential on a nightly basis. Carolina won't win a cup with this roster unless Svech can be that guy that puts up point per game numbers to support Aho. Their defense is as close to perfect as you can get, and they have one of the best goaltending tandems in the league. Scoring is their weakness. We shall see.

    Love these videos! My list:
    16. Byfield (short career thus far, he could rise)
    15. Patrick (earlier in his career, and injury problems)
    14. Murray (put together over 400 games, but a bottom pairing defenseman most of the time)
    13. Kakko (yet to put it all together)
    12. Svechnikov (very impressive plays, but overall numbers are less impressive than you'd think. Could move way up in a few years)
    11. Reinhart (Best year in 2021-22--will see if he continues)
    10. Van Reimsdyk (pretty reliable 20-goal scorer for many years)
    9. Ryan (scored 30+ goals for four straight seasons)
    8. Staal (consistently receives Selke votes and puts up middle six offensive numbers)
    7. Laine (relatively short career, but already has had some excellent years)
    6. Seguin (five 30+ goal years and a long career already)
    5. Eichel (injuries have slowed him down as of late, but was rapidly improving prior to that)
    4. Landeskog (steady point-per-game player recently and strong playoff performer)
    3. Barkov (can be relied on for 90+ points and is one of the best defensive forwards)
    2. Doughty (tons of games, one Norris, two 2nd place Norris finishes, and one third place finish)
    1. Hedman (greatest defenseman of the last decade--one Norris and five 3rd place finishes)

I also love these videos, and really like your list. I used your list while listening to THG to help remember all 16 names and then looked away from it and put together my own. Our lists are pretty similar. I have a few flipped, but it's not without a little trepidation because some are apples to oranges arguments anyway, like where to put Jordin Staal given he has a different role (and was one of the better forwards in the league at it for a while). It's hard to come up with an exact formula, but doing it roughly I weighed longevity, impact vs the league, and impact on their team/what they meant to their team. Maybe it's with a silvery recency bias that I have Landeskog ahead of Barkov, for instance. I have no argument with anyone who'd put Barkov ahead of Landeskog. He's a very dynamic player, arguably the best player in the world on a good night.
      1. Victor Hedman
      2. Drew Doughty
      3. Gabriel Landeskog
      4. Aleksandr Barkov
      5. Jack Eichel
      6. Tyler Seguin
      7. Jordin Staal
      8. Patrik Laine
      9. Bobby Ryan
      10. Andrei Svechnikov
      11.Sam Reinhart
      12.James Van Riemsdyk
      13. Ryan Murray
      14. Kappo Kakko
      15. Nolan Patrick
      16. Quinton Byfield.
