Instead of scratching with my fingernails I try to remember to rub with the balls of my fingers instead. Rubbing works better to relieve itching and does much less damage to the skin than scratching. It also provides a little light massage which improves blood flow that promotes healing of the skin.
Test #2 was doomed to fail since it required the unwitting subject to direct his attention to other directions (literally) and not notice the social cue much. Test #3 with the bosses mimics Japanese studies that show a strong social inclination to copy your alpha's gestures as faithfully as possible. Not just scratches but anything.
Science bugbear in the vo. You don't _prove_ hypotheses, you _test_ them, hoping to prove yourself _wrong_ if anything - hence *Null Hypothesis.* In the same way, theories aren't ever proven to be true - after all this time, it's still the Big Bang _Theory,_ the _Theory_ of Relativity, the _Theory_ of Evolution, Game _Theory,_ and even the _Theory_ of Everything...
I realize this isn't really a topic of debate but I do have a couple of points. Scratching or rubbing ones face whilst in conversation could also be a polite measure to suggest the other person has something (food, grass, etc) on their face and they might respond accordingly. It is also a method of fishing for approval from a potential mate (person 1 scratches meaning 'do you like me'? and person 2 scratches 'yes I do') that sort of thing.
This show was actually quite good and anything with Lee Mack in it is instantly great
I completely forgot about this show I’m glad I found it again 😂
Don’t know who’s funnier?
Jon or Lee. !!!!
These two are funny guys. 😂😂
Personal preference, both genius.

In the studio with the panel it didn't work because mirroring is subconscious.

Guess who's scratching away now . . .
Wonderful JRic panel! Love it. Keep it coming johnboy
Yeah... I got itchy too.
Jon is so fricking good looking, that smile though!
That video made me very itchy.
Didn't know that... Interesting... Sub-conscious cues one may pick up... Pretty cool..
20 to 0 to 0. Jon, I admire your restrain for not posting this clip sooner.
I know this is just tv entertainment but it bothers me so much that they didn't do a baseline to see how much scratching there was without prompting.
What is this 🤩interesting
What show is this please?
Duck Quacks Don't Echo
kinda sneaky but yeah it was cited properly

Haven't seen this show before. Seems like they poured tons of funds into it. Risky though.
That set looks far too busy and borderline claustrophobic.
Still prefer countdown 8/10 cats
