Paul is exhorting the Philippian believers to have fear and trembling that they will miss out on living in such as way as to gain His good pleasure. The worst outcome in life is to live it in such a way as to miss out on the opportunity to please God with our deeds, and miss out on the rewards He desires to give us
This encourages us to do our utmost, because our labour shall not be in vain: we must still depend on the grace of God. The working of God's grace in us, is to quicken and engage our endeavours. God's good-will to us, is the cause of his good work in us.
I praise and thank the Lord for giving you Pastor Paul gifts of prophecy and revelation so that we can understand deeply God's word through the power of the Holy Spirit.I always remember you Pastor and your family in my prayers.God bless
Thanks for sharing your preaching messages. I listen to it as part of my study to teach my Adult Sunday School class. It is always an encouragement to hear the word of God being shared faithfully. I like your blend of practical with study of the Word. May God bless your ministry.
In verses 12-18 the Apostle Paul describes how we should walk out our service to Christ. In verse 12 he says: " work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." The salvation that he speaks of here is not our eternal salvation; but our service which sanctifies us in this life. We should fear and tremble at the thought of ignoring so great a salvation and not wanting to pursue a life that glorifies the Lord. Verse 13 says: "For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure." It is through the power of the Holy Spirit that gives us the ability to serve the Lord. Peter writes: " His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness." The Lord provides EVERYTHING we need to serve Him and He give us knowledge of Himself through His word. Verse 14 says: "Do everything without complaining or arguing." As Christians we should be people of thanksgiving and praise because the cares and concerns of this life pale in comparison to the joy of spending eternity in the presence of the Lord. If we serve the Lord in humility and oneness "we may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a perverse and crooked generation." All generations are perverse and crooked to some degree, and living a life that is pleasing to the Lord will let us "shine as lights in the world." We can be that light if we "hold fast to the word of life" which is the word of God. In verses 17-18 Paul writes: "But I will rejoice even if I lose my life, pouring it out like a drink offering to God, just like your faithful service is an offering to God. And I want all of you to share that joy. Yes, you should rejoice, and I will share your joy." If we pour out our lives for others we will save it. A life given is a life gained. Serving the Lord should be the great joy of our life. Amen.
Yes we should fear and tremble when it comes to arguing and bickering and complaining because God will not work through us with all that going on in us .praise God
What does Philippians 2 teach us? “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others” (Philippians 2:3-4 NRSV). Paul proclaims “energy” that realizes the potential in others, and thus of a community
Thank Pastor Paul to let use have a platform to understand the word of God. I have a different angel on v 2:17, Paul poured out his life simply because of love: Like a father pours out his life for his son. When the son has achievement in his life, father and son rejoice for love, appreciation, thankfulness . Or similarly like a teacher pour outs his life for his student. The joy of this love is sufficient rewards. Please comment.
What does Philippians 2 14 16 mean? 2:14-16) Breaking Down the Text. There is a connection between Jesus leaving heaven and humbling himself as a servant, even being obedient to death on the cross, and then the words, work out your own salvation…for it is God who works in you, and do all things without grumbling or disputing.
A life given is a life gained😊……thank you Lord. And thank you Pastor Paul
