John Christian Plummer answers those questions and many more as he shares the story behind never-to-be-produced Episode 8 of Mystery 101 exclusively with Hallmark Mysteries and More.
We discussed what the fates of Travis and Amy would have been, answered the questions behind the cliffhanger ending of Deadly History, and outlined the mystery of the episode.
In addition, we discussed how many of the teachings of SGI Buddhism, such as nothing ever ends, acceptance, and resiliency, can help fans of Mystery 101 deal with the grief they are feeling over the cancellation of the series.

What the hell. That would have been the best episode. This guy is really talented and probably is held back by his superiors.

Definitely brings some closure, and a happy ending for Travis and Amy🙂. It would still be wonderful to actually SEE it though, if only Hallmark could be persuaded to still shoot it! Thank you despite this video on episode 8 of Mystery 101 it shows what a quality this show had been. All I can say is wow and hope that Mystery 101 could possibly be bought back with such excellent plots
Unfortunately, due to Jill Wagner's decision to align with Bil Abott and GAF, I don't see that happening.

Thank you, Eric, for doing this. And a big thank you to JCP for his time and especially for sharing what he had outlined for Episode 8. It was fun to imagine how the episode would have turned out. I am looking forward to Kris' next mystery, whenever it comes out. Of course, I am bummed whenever a show I like is canceled (such as Chesapeake Shores), but I'm confident Hallmark will continue to entertain me with new shows. 😊
Chesapeak Shores I think ran its course. Mystery 101 definately still had story to tell. but I am optimistic and believe there are new great mysteries coming .
@Hallmark Mysteries & More I agree. C.S. had a good ending to send the fans into the sunset, but it's still sad to see a good show with a good ensemble of actors end.

Would’ve been helpful to know the recap of episode 8 is from 38-43 minutes in….for any who want the skip the rest. I’ve been thinking of this cliffhanger ever since episode 7 aired and didn’t even know it was cancelled! I found this video because I was STILL wondering about it. Thanks for the explanation. This would’ve been an awesome episode! During the highlights, I was like…yes, yes, yes!!! 😊

Also, so much of the hallmark shows I choose to watch are based off of the actors. So this was the perfect series in that it had a great script and two of my favourite hallmark actors. So i'm of the opposite opinion, throw Kris (and Jill but I know that isnt going to happen) in every single movie and i'll be happy as a clam.

Too much on Buddhism at the beginning. First, I am not grieving or in pain over a tv show but I do think they should not have left it with such an ending. Even if they did break up the couple there should have been some info on how it came to be.

Well, we were interviewing him and his Buddhism beliefs are a big part of what helped create the Mystery 101 series, plus it was such a generous gift to share episode 8, that I think it was a very small tradeoff.

Obviously if an episode 8 was pitched then Mystery 101 was not supposed to end with episode 7 and the cliffhanger. It is not the Hallmark way to end their movies so. Very disappointed that we do not get to see the ending and the wedding. Hallmark just lost a viewer.
It is well documented that no one was expecting the series to end after Episode 8.
