This was the best explanation of the topics I've ever heard. I'm finally feeling like I actually understand what all of these things mean :D thank you so much for your great tutorials
I've just recently started to dive into 3D sculpting (after being a diehard poly modeller, even for characters) and your Nomad tutorials have been helping me a ton! I really appreciate that you're being honest in this video about who CozyBlanket can be useful for and who probably doesn't need it, because many pro artists online seem to push for expensive software no matter what. as a hobbyist animator working on a portfolio (so someone who could use an easy retopo tool, but who doesn't have a professional budget) this was a nice overview, thank you!
Thanks Erika…awesome, lots to think about. 🤔 I truly believe the “fun factor” is important…especially if it gets you started. Then you’re better equipped to move to a more advanced software. OR, figure out how to do what you want with what you’ve got. As with Nomad, I always find a way to make it work and AVOID another software learning curve. But I think I’m gonna try Cozy! I’m a pencil kinda guy. YOU ROCK ✊✊✊🎩
Always so kind John. I agree with the fun factor. Years ago I didn't like sculpting because I suffered using Zbrush. A simple software is a great step before going into the rabbit hole that pc software tends to be.
This is why I first git started with Nomad before I started learning how to use Blender. Nomad is very intuitive and user friendly and I can apply my skills in a more advanced software from there.
Awesome! There already are some useful tool for this pipeline. • Sculpt mobile apps as Nomad... • Texture Painters mobile app as Procreate and Armor Paint. • And now, Retopology mobile app. The next would be perhabs modeling, rigging, animation, compositing, tracking etc... mobile apps :v I would like CozyBlanket works in Android too! ¡Saludos!
@@johndeggendorf7826 It's hard to tell. Steph (the Nomad developer) has said in the forums that fancier UV unwrapping is not a priority on his list. He added the automatic uv because of Procreate. I think it would be more likely to have UV unwrapping added to CozyBlanket but so far there have not been any announcements about it.
I’m a beginning 3D artist who learnt sculpting in Nomad and who just started learning how to use Blender. My goal is to become a professional and to create both concept sculpts and riggable models for animations or games. Blender seems pretty overwhelming for a started like me and I still haven’t fully figured it out. Is it better for me to use CozyBlanket or to directly learn retopology in Bender?
CozyBlanket a 100% It's way simpler to use and learn. The newest version now let's you create UVs and bakes. I'd stick to the cheapest version and once you are familiar with retopo reassess if it is worth paying the full features or trying PC options.
Can I find similar apps like this in android? 😭 honestly I don't have any iPad or PC. I only have a tab for 3D and 2D modeling until now, any apps suggestions? Thankyou🙏🏻😭
Yeah I plan to get it they're slowly making it possible to animate 3d models on mobile like iPads. You can sculpt with nomad, now theres retopology, only really one more thing left which is rigging. I've seen a video where someone imported a 3d model with rigs into clip studio!!
@@SmallRobotStudio oh hey I found a video recently where its possible to rig and animate your 3d model. Its prisma 3d you can sculpt your model in nomad sculpt then use cozy blanket to retopologize the model. Then use prisma 3d to rig n animate it. Edit: just found out you can import animations from mixamo into prisma 3d.
I am so conflicted at the moment... Currently, I am a massive 3D beginner and can merely draw donuts on Blender. The question is, should I continue to learn Blender or learn Nomad Sculpt and CosyBlanket first to get down the fundamentals first? I have both options available to me, but was wondering what could be the best way of going about this... (Blender is still confusing for me)
Estaría buenísimo si CozyBlanket hiciera UVs tambien! Ojalá lo estén considerando. Esa es otra razon por la que me gusta 3DCoat es rebueno en ambos procesos 👌🏽
It's a very interesting market they are aiming for; non of my colleagues who do these processes as part of their jobs use iPads or have even heard of these apps. For most of them an iPad is not an investment that makes sense.
Omg omg omg I am so excited that this even exists, I’ve been waiting so long for an iPad retopology app
I knoooow as soon as I saw the pre release videos I was like OMG i want this
Already better then all my college classes, so concise!

Thanks, appreciate the kind words!
You are amazing. Excellent description of the “why” of retopology. Thank you for your very meaningful videos!
You are too kind, thank you very much ❤
This was one of the clearest and most succinct definitions of topo and retopo I've watched. Thank you for clarifying a lot of confusing details!!

Justo la respuesta que buscaba saber, supero mis expectativas. Muchas gracias por compartir tu experiencia. Justo estoy empezando con retopoflow.
Great tutorial as always. Thank you very much
Muchas gracias Erika

I really enjoy being able to use the iPad for some stages! We'll see what comes next, hopefully manual UV mapping is not far :D

@@SmallRobotStudio ….hi Erika ✌️…yes, UV with seams would be a very complete iPad studio. I’m hoping Nomad goes that way. Do you think that’s likely?

@@SmallRobotStudioany thoughts on looking at cozy blankets 2.0 and their new feature set? 😊
@@flyinggecko3322 UV Unwrapping, while complex at first in CozyBalanket, is super intuitive imo.
Retopology on the go , awesome !
Yeah! Its super fun :P

Stephen should add this into Nomad Sculpt or as an separate app because this looks cool and it's pretty useful for not blender useres

I first saw nomad because of you and it’s a real amazing journey.

I thought one of the biggest selling points for cozy blanket is “reprojection” since it’s not available in nomad.
Yeah that's a good feature, unfortunately only available in the full version. Reprojection can also be made in Blender easily
@@SmallRobotStudiohat is reprojection exactly, if I may ask?

Focus on one thing. It's easier to eat the cake one spoonful at a time than to shove it in all at once :)
Ojalá existiera algo similar en iPad para crear las UV, con esto se tendrían las herramientas necesarias para un flujo básico completo de 3D.

YO THIS IS DOPE YOU CAN RETOPO ON YOUR IPAD
Now you can also UV and bake normal maps!!
How do I get the center line in nomad
Top icon that looks like a book
How does it compare to zRail?
I have not tried zRail yet but I'll definitely give it a go!
On Android 😢
no android :(
"3Dcoat is not painful" LMAO right and fire isn't hot. 3Dcoat has so many problems
Half the Nomad users don't even know what manual retopo is used for. 😂😂 Clever of Dobarro to cash in on the trendy 'ipad' 3D toe-dippers.
