Great designs are elegant and this is one. Nice craftsmanship, too. I think we stare at these ~$400 router lifts and forget we're working in a medium that doesn't require .0001" tolerances. This type of solution looks remarkably accurate, stable and it relies on the built-in plunging action of the router. Brilliant.
Multi grazie!! Thank you so much!! (Y) Just borrowed the money to buy a heavy Bosch router (like in the video), and thought it would be easier to make a table/lift for it, but I don't have all the tools or the expensive special bolts, nuts, etc, etc. to build any of the many very fine, but also (for an unskilled metal worker) very complicated DIY router lift on youtube. And I've watched MANY yt videos!! Until I saw this video (Huge smile) and I knew I've found "the needle in the haystack"! When very accurate, durable, and relatively simple to build, a lot less can go wrong when making it and when using it, and if you screw up a piece, it's not hard to make a new and replace it, and ...you know what? All this can only give this router lift only label: "Genius" (Y) (Pia, from Denmark and of course, a new subscriber! :D )
Wow! Well done, Alex! (Y) I totally agree; this is absolutely the best, cheapest and easiest to make table lift of the hundreds of videos I've seen to find one I could build with limited tools and limited skills in working with metal! I'm going to set up my tiny workshop (3x3 meters!) over the next 2 weeks, and after building a new workbench with a station for my new transportable table saw, this router lift is my second project! Alex, after 7 months, have you changed anything, or is your lift still working perfectly? Stay safe and creative (y) Greetings from Denmark.
The best solutions are generally the simplest. I think this is the best I’ve seen yet. Nice parallel pressure to the router with fine adjustment. Bravo.
Hey Brad a fellow aussie isnt having much luck getting a response from Microlab. Can you tell me how you communicated with them to purchase their plans for the router lift? Regards Gary
I have 5 of those butchers blocks from ikea holding different machines, they work really well, mine are the older tables which have thicker legs and tops, they were in our kitchen until a couple of years ago then new kitchen and i got those for my workshop... great for a router table, drill press, jigsaw table and small workshop table, just screw thin wood onto the sides to seal them and add a door on the front all with 5mm ply.
A great Solution for a router lift especially for the Bosch POF 1200 or 1400. And you realized this project very professionally. Great job congratulations.
thank you very much!!! out of all the videos I have watch the last week, your idea and design is the "coolest". I like old school type things and things, I'm choosing to go with your design , and thank you for making the plans available so easy. kind and warm greeting in South Africa !!
I've been looking for a router lift design for my router table. I think you've got the same router as I do, this is probably the one that I'm gonna make. Thanks for sharing!!!
The best ideas are the simple ones! You can fit all brands in here - very stable. Really brilliant!!! Havent seen a better idea but a lot - A LOT - of far more complicated yet worse ideas! Good Work!
hello, after I also use a Bosch milling machine and would like to recreate the lift, it would be great if I could get a parts list with the appropriate dimensions or an exploded view. The other videos (for example table for the table drill, air purifier or the production of a table saw), I think great. Nice Christmas and good videos! Greetings from Peter
Really simple, smart, cheap and beautiful. I cant believe there was three odiots enough who disliked this idea. Or mayby these three was from inkra, jessem and rockler when they realised how many customers are going to be lost with this bright concept...
I really like your design for the Bosch router. Its the best design without having to butcher your Bosch 1200 AE Router. Could you send me the details for me to obtain a copy of your plans in an English format please. Regards Gary
this is so simple and effective it is pure genius. Thank you so much for this. I hope the google translate to itallian is correct questo è così semplice ed efficace è puro genio. Grazie mille per questo
Thanks Michael!! I'm upgrading the privacy policy on my web site.... you can find the plans here: themicrolab.it/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Sistema-di-sollevamento.pdf and If you are interested in my videos please check for my new international channel here: ua-cam.com/channels/WHNHKCXJIN50vg3kN2rcCg.html and please subscribe!!
Bravissimo, ottimo sistema. Ciao
Hello, this project is great, ich already have the plans and I will build this router adjuster.I am using a Bosch POF 1400ACE and one question : How did you manage to kill the red fixing knob ? Because this knob does not allow to move the router, if it is not deactvated by my thumb ? Best regards from germany, Wolfgang
Very nice design , I am preparing to build this !!! Unfortunately it seems that your website is still "under maintenance". I could access the pdf via the link you have posted below, but not the sketchup file. Could you help me further how to access it ?
Hey! Just unscrew the little screw on the lock and remove it. Behind it there is a nut with a spring just loosen or remove the spring.... and maybe the nut a little bit....DONE.
Excelente! Saludos cordiales.
Is the diameter of the two nuts and the bolt (for lifting and lowering) the same? I presume that the long bolt threads through both nuts? Can you please clarify as mine is not working like yours. Please help!
Thanks for presenting your project. I like your design! What's that plate with a nut you are mounting in 6:06? Is it a ready-made product or is it built by you? I mean, it doesn't seem to be difficult to make, but in case there is something readily available, I would prefer that.
Hello, this Router Lift looks so simpel but also so great. I want to build it for my own. Is it possible to get some more Informations about this Construction? A List with all the parts and some plans about it? Thank you very much from Maik
Bravo ! I can't believe how ingenious this lift is! The simplicity alone is amazing. I've been looking at router lifts for quite some time. I found that there are a few common types and everyone has their own variation on them. But this is totally novel. I've not seen this idea anywhere. Again, congratulations for a truly novel idea. What are you working on next? On a separate note, I believe you are from Italy. What city are you near? My family is originally from a village near Caserta.
Thanks Dimitrios!! If you are interested in my videos please check for my new international channel here: ua-cam.com/channels/WHNHKCXJIN50vg3kN2rcCg.html and please subscribe!!
I like this. A step up from my car jack under the table. However, I am concerned that the piece of wood under the router may block airflow causing the router to overheat.

WOW - so simple and practical. Beats all other DIY lifts.
Thanks Dave!

Bravo.
Not just Brilliant but INTELLIGENT.

Great setup! I just made one of these using aluminium rectangular tube based on what you've done here. Works a treat! Thankyou from Australia!!!
thank you too!!! but please send me an email with a photo of your work. great place Australia!!!!
Hey Brad a fellow aussie isnt having much luck getting a response from Microlab. Can you tell me how you communicated with them to purchase their plans for the router lift?

Very innovative lifting machanism I have ever watched....Simply amazing
Very nice. Simple and easy to adjust. Regards, Engineer from India.
Simply amazing, clever and simple. I love this idea and the way you built the project. Thanks for sharing.

Brillant, simple but effective! Great Idea!
the BEST router lift mechanism i've seen to date - great work mate - keep it up! :)
A simple design, easy to make in just one afternoon. What's most important - it works!! Thanks a lot for sharing!
Brilliant! This design doesn't require me to drill holes on my router. Also, it is removable. Very useful for an occasional woodworker like me.
Thanks Lily!!

Thank you so much john!
Blueprints and sketchup file! And amazing solution! THANK YOU SO MUCH! Been thinking about it for quite some time!
Thank you so much for you to share these nice tricks for us. I just wonder if the router shake when it works?
The best ideas are the simple ones! You can fit all brands in here - very stable. Really brilliant!!! Havent seen a better idea but a lot - A LOT - of far more complicated yet worse ideas! Good Work!
Thanks Claus!

Thanks for sharing. Your design looks less complicated than some I've seen on UA-cam. I just might be able to attempt this.
Really simple, smart, cheap and beautiful. I cant believe there was three odiots enough who disliked this idea. Or mayby these three was from inkra, jessem and rockler when they realised how many customers are going to be lost with this bright concept...
TXT GAS, I get the idea all dislikes are normally because of the competition.
I absolutely agree with you!!! thanks man!! :))))))
This is excellent! Simple solution to an otherwise expensive problem! Thank you!
Superb design very much along the KISS principle

Thanks Peter!
7/21/2019 USA Grandpa Bill: Very Clever! Unique. Happily mechanical. Thank you.
Bravissimo, ottimo sistema. Ciao
TOP! The result is very practicable. Thank you for showing this idea.
Thanks Friedrich!

Hello, this project is great, ich already have the plans and I will build this router adjuster.I am using a Bosch POF 1400ACE and one question : How did you manage to kill the red fixing knob ? leuk bedacht, ziet er goed uit en mooi gemaakt
Very nice idea! This mechanism is interesting!
Thanks Phil!
Great stuff!!! Simply genius!!!
Thank you so much!
Very nice design , I am preparing to build this !!! Unfortunately it seems that your website is still "under maintenance". I could access the pdf via the link you have posted below, but not the sketchup file. Could you help me further how to access it ?
I like the design, I’m wondering if there should be a locking mechanism to prevent movement due to vibration.
No movimento during use due to vibration, the springs of the router keep all locked
The Micro Lab
thanks for the quick response. I had not taken the springs into consideration. Makes perfect sense.
Absolutely BRILLIANT! Thank you for this. This is exactly what I need. 👌👏
Thanks for sharing your great idea. And double thanks for the music.
Thank you Scott!!
Ciao! Thanks for the great video. Can you tell us how you removed the Bosch's plunge lock mechanism?
Hey! Just unscrew the little screw on the lock and remove it. Behind it there is a nut with a spring just loosen or remove the spring.... and maybe the nut a little bit....DONE.
Excelente! Saludos cordiales.
What is the metal piece attached to a nut called? The piece you lower & raise the lift with?
Awesome!!! - what a simple, but great Idea, congratulation!
Thanks Thomas!!
finally, a cheap and simple solution. Thanks a lot
Thanks Man!!
Very nice solution! Thank you.
Do you need to lock the height before turning router on?
I am busy building my router lift the same as yours. One question: How do you change the router bits?
Very nice buid, but also very nice instructional video! THX
Thank you!
Is the diameter of the two nuts and the bolt (for lifting and lowering) the same? I presume that the long bolt threads through both nuts? Can you please clarify as mine is not working like yours. Please help!
The Micro Lab.....Tu sei il Leonardo da Vinci siclo XXI......BRAVISSIMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Thank you for sharing this unique and simple lift system.
Great design, well done! I’m using steel plate. Also have same router as the one in your video. What were the dimensions (LxBxH) of your steel plate?
Well done! Very clever design.
Thanks!
really nice build man....cheers
Very nice. I have the same router and i was looking ideas for the lift. What did you do with the switces that must be pressed at all time?
I use this switch www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00EL41W08/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and simple cable tie
A very interesting solution. What dimensions (length and width) does the aluminum plate on which the entire lift structure is based?
As simple as it is brilliant!
Great idea 👍
Thank you so much!
The link to the plans doesn't work any longer. Is there any way to obtain these plans? Fantastic solution!
Thanks for presenting your project. I like your design! What's that plate with a nut you are mounting in 6:06? Is it a ready-made product or is it built by you? I mean, it doesn't seem to be difficult to make, but in case there is something readily available, I would prefer that.
To answer my own question: I will just use 6 mm steel sheet and cut threads directly into that without using any nut(s).
Hello,
this Router Lift looks so simpel but also so great.
I want to build it for my own.
Is it possible to get some more Informations about this Construction?
A List with all the parts and some plans about it?
Thank you very much from Maik
Thanks Maik, here you can find the files www.themicrolab.it/projects/sistema-di-sollevamento-della-fresatrice/
Does it come high enough to change the router bits
That is awesome!
Great video and thank you for sharing!!
Thanks Joshua!!
It’s great and exactly what I’m looking for, however the sketchup plan no longer seems to be available, you have the opportunity to share them.
excellent design man !
Thanks!!
