I found this clip because i practice this song on guitar at the moment. It was fun to play the Santana parts. While you did the flute and percussion solos i just played a little bit with the rythm chord parts to give them space. That is what i like about the internet. Thank you 😁✌️ Greetings from Germany

Quite the feat re looping! I used to be a teacher, for 8 and half years. It’s good to be prepared! I see you used the “Melodica”. Good show!

      Eduardo,
I’m a tech dodo bird. What do I need to buy to loop all that stuff ? Probably some kind of a 8 track ?
      Thanks

Hey that was amazing! Can you tell me what kind of looper you use? I have yet to find one that can hold that many different sounds.

    Very nice!
Question: how long can a loop be? Can I record say a 2 minute poem on a track? Or am I restricted to a few measures only?

    • @ruebene2223
      @ruebene2223 2 роки тому +1

Depends on your looping gear. Some looping pedals can only record for a couple of measures. Others can record a few hours. Then there's software, which relies in your computer's memory.

I use the Boss RC-505. You can look up specs on this and other loopers. Most will have hours of potential time available.

What instrument are you whacking with the stick to get that wooden clicking/clacking sound? It sounds like a temple block but it looks like a white round thing.

What kind of equipment I need to buy to do that

    • @richardervins

You will need a looper, like Kalani‘s Boss RC-505, and the following stuff:
      - Microphone(s)
      - Mic stand(s)
      - XLR cables
      - Footswitch(s)
      - Earphones or buds (to hear initial metronome or drum sounds you need for syncing)
      - Optional: Mixing board (if you want to use more than one mic for live performances for instance)
      - Also optional: PA system - if you want to take your performances on stage
The looper and the accessories are relatively cheap. 1000$ will probably do. But the instruments you’ll need won‘t be in that category.
If you have some prior training and you master the instruments, it will be relatively easy to get started with a looper. It will give you instant satisfaction. But what Kalani does here, isn‘t that easy to do, even if looks effortless when he does it. It took him some time to come up with an arrangement and to figure out what to put on which track in which order, and where to put the solos etc. And then he is a master on most instruments. His intonation of the flute is amazing. It would take me hours to get that right with a flute and it would still not even come close to his rendition. There is a lot of inprecise drumming. But that also reflects the mark of the master. Those imprecisions spice up the whole thing tremendously - and they are the result of years of training. In contrast to a MIDI-recording, the looper will not correct anything or remove imperfections. So, if you want to get results like Kalani, you need to be ready to invest a certain amount of time. Time money can‘t buy. 😄
