Finally! The one with 16gb ram. Thought we will never see a review on it.
Same for 800p screen
As someone obsessed with handhelds this is the best timeline so far!
Not for your wallet lol
@@Dominency so true
@@Dbeepperson There a whole slew of retro and budget friendly handhelds from the likes of Anbernic.
Most of them run Android, but are starting to use Linux as the base OS that supports more emulation and far more customisable.
*Yes, I know Linux is under the hood of Android.
You like me
@@AdmiralBison I have a few of the Abernics! I probably use the RG350m the most out of all of them. It’s my go-to for a handheld psone experience on the subway.
I never imagined back in the 90s that we could have such powerful handheld PCs in the future - and I like it! These are definitely changing the PC market a little bit. These have enough power for some casual gaming, doesn't take up lots of space, and you can connect them to TV if you want. Great video. Entertaining to watch.
I'm so happy to live in a time where Handheld Gaming pc are a thing.
And they probably are here to stay too 🙏
Thanks for the video - I personally prefer seeing the performance at higher (highest) TDP's. I'm happy to lug around an external battery and get just a couple of hours play at higher frames and graphic settings rather than many hours at a lower TDP.
My choice for more in depth review would of course see egpu integration if supported (especially on this bsse model)and a steamos install to test comparisons to steam deck and how well is linux supported.
Brightness testing the 800p screen does look good in the video
SD card performance is overlooked a lot in other reviewers videos would b nice to check how well it can be utilized.
A promising first look at a potentially great handheld.
glad to see that the handheld drvices are evolving ...personally for me the right stick is too low and the device seems more smaller than the rog ally..which i have and even if it's not perfect it fits much better in my hand
ordered one last month, it should arrive in days. Can't wait to test it
10:00. That is an advantage of having a low resolution screen. You won't be tempted to up the resolution.!
Facilitating frames in AAA titles. That's awesome.!
Plus it looks pretty slick.!!
And comfy.!
Excellent video. 👍👍
I wish you would have talked about the quality of the screen since that's really the only thing different then the 2s. Brightness and color accuracy would have been nice.
Excellent video. I’m sorted for pc handheld I got my deck. I’ll wait for a Deck 2.
Thanks for this great video, glad to see the 800P version! 👍
Woaw, cannot wait to receive my own ... If u can try some emulation and especially PS3 with Metal Gear Solid 4 it could be awesome ! the power of the 7840U looks to be perfect at 15W that is the most important TDP for that type of device. If TLOU is running at 30 fps at 15w it means that u can have 30 fps with every games at 15w.
I've ordered the 32gb/512 skywhite geek 1s 1200p but idk if i will receive it in july ...
Does the 800p screen look good enough compared to the 1200p screen (brightness, saturation, persistence)?
Does it look better on a native 800p screen than 800p upscaled to a 1200p screen?
YES!!!! Keep em coming! Whoooo handhelds
Thanks you for the test. Gpu temperatures always stay under 60 degrees. It is impressive ! 10% more battery than Rog Ally or Steam deck in a smaller form factor. Congratulations !
Once again, I would've loved to see you try the Cyberpunk Golden 40 preset on there. Performs much better than "low" while looking tremendously good.
We need a video with all the 7840U devices (and the Ally) compared with each other 😁
Ally is still not at her best yet. Recently, there are errors such as SD card reader corruption. There were those who said it was related to the heat. I hope these issues get fixed.
@@JstMst I’m going through my second Ally with SD card malfunctions. Now, I’m sending it in to Asus for repairs. Fingers crossed.
@@JstMst None of these are at their best yet. SD issues aside, there's no official drivers from AMD yet on these devices.
@@JstMst seriously doubt it's heat, the thing killed 4 SD cards for me all of them while running @10w. QC control issues and faulty readers, cards are getting shorted not heat killed
Ally sucks, so no.
two interesting videos might be:
-real impact of 6400 MT vs 7500 MT (3A and emulation)
-Direct comparison with ROG Ally
That screen is gorgeous in camera at least
im getting confused on which one i need to buy because this brand literally launches new products every Thursday
Dice rolling is the way. 🎲🎲
Yeah, that is true, but I don't know if there is much of a better option for Aya Neo, personally a fan of the GPD designs over the others aside from the 3, not a huge fan of that one.
I'm torn between the lenovo go cause I do like watching UA-cam and movies and the detachable controls makes it nice to do so
I have been following your channel for the past 6 months and I’m genuinely interested in buying the ayaneo geek 1s! Would you recommend it after extensive testing or would you recommend Ally?
Egpu testing if you can. Im sold on the geek 1s. Great video.
For future videos it would be interesting to see, how much system memory the iGPU can make use of. Always just 4? Maybe 8? Maybe it can be allocated freely? 🤤
Yeah, interested to that as well
Really hoping Ayaspace 2 works on their older devices. The older software is ok, but this newer one looks a lot better.
it is, I got a leak of the closed beta version and running on the Air Pro without issue, completely changed how I felt about the device.
@@namnathanielmai good to know. I already feel pretty happy with the device, but better software is always welcome!
I am window shopping and would love to be able to see and touch these handhelds beofre a purchase. I mean in a second I would know waht not to buy regardless of specs. Soo... I would appreciate any pointers on _ergonomics_ (old longfinger crooked hands here), will they become heavy or cause "mouse arms" after a while? and can I write emails and even do some online shopping with them? (Yes, I am looking to replace my laptop :))
Still cant disable cores in aya space?
So excited to see what happens in the handheld space as we pack more and more into these tiny units. It'll be intriguing to watch as they become as good as some budget PC's while being more convenient (also can't wait for them to make economic sense)
Same here, hopefully prices come down as they become more popular
Aren’t we already there with the ROG Ally? There aren’t many laptops than can compete with it in both performance and screen quality for the same price.
that aya kun while going for a bigger size, might come with something beastly/dgpu similar to what we usually see in those nucs and such is my guess
Yeah it's cool but the prices never go down
@@LuisPerez-5 early bird gets the worm, usually u can get them for around 700 when they first appear on indiegogo but yeah gets pretty steep after
the only way for that to get better is either waiting til tech drops in price/buying later or companies like playstation, nintendo, valve, etc being able to profit from other avenues like software to where they can sell u the hardware without much of a profit or even a loss...but yeah kind of hard for these other companies to do that, so it's great that asus done it at all at 600 given they don't profit like valve does from their steam storefront on the deck
Curious if there are any interesting devices using 7640 parts?
I would like to see the difference in the GPU performance.
It would be nice to have a video about retrogaming, maybe even using Batocera with an external Usb drive!
First! ETA PRIME has some great content, keep it up man
Can you add additional displays via the USB 4 ports? (ie. 2 at once + perhaps the internal display)
I'd love to see some PS5 Remote Play with Handheld Companion for the Controller Setup. Thanks!
Buying a handheld gaming PC is a gamble these days when a couple of months later a new and better one comes out
I'm interested in how low the lowest TDP can go for ps2 and under. Looking to see how long battery can last.
Looking forward to seeing the eventual Ayaneo slide that’s supposedly in the works. Sorta don’t like the GPD slide design. Though my hope is that Ayaneo embraces oculink. Lots of wishful thinking on my part as you can see 😂
I too had a whole bunch of wishful thinking but now a new clamshell is coming, so I am, slightly, saciated
hearing mixed reviews on 2s versus geek 1s about the screen. Is it worth it for the 1200p more color accurate screen in price to upgrade?
Since these can come with more ram options does that mean that you can now dedicate more memory to the video card? 8gb or more??
Hi Where can i get this desktop wallpaper seen @1:50 ?
I definitely like the size and build of these but im still waiting for a significant jump in power to upgrade from steam deck
Same here
@@master_misanthrope2715eah but the battery life tanks
its going to be a while before we see that at 15w, I am content with the deck either way.
@master_misanthrope2715 sure it is but still struggles to play 60fps cyber punk at 800p and other games mentioned in the video. So no there's not a MAJOR jump here even at over 15watts
I would love to see whether it will run with egpu or not?
ANything over 60 fps on newer games is just gonna eat that thermal paste up faster.
I wish they would put out APUs for hand helds with a 6/12 CPU configuration. Lower power requirements with similar performance, more power for the GPU.
My thoughts exactly, most games aren't taking full advantage of 6 cores. The 8 cores just reveals how its a PC/laptop part crammed into a handheld, if the ROG Ally's Z1 extreme was truely "custom designed for handheld gaming" it would have had 4-6 cpu cores and more gpu cores. We don't need more CPU power (a 12th Gen i3 can run most games at 1440p when paired with a good graphics card).
Now I'm curious how a handheld with the Ryzen 5 7640u would perform on an 800p display
In your testing please includes sport games too, like FIFA and NBA 2K. Some of us are only looking to buy these handhelds for FIFA or NBA 2K.
Is it possible to do a comparison between this and the asus ROG ally, because right now in indiegogo the geek 1s is pricing comparable
Can you include the opera gx games store to cover for web browser games
Low tdp + battery life review please thank you for your videos
I would love to see some old, difficult games on here. Like Slave Zero or Shogo. Games that have a habit of being picky.
Whatever happened to your Ayaneo 2S vs. ROG Ally video?
I would have loved comparisons to the rog ally
Benchmarks need more variety. Would have loved to see FSR and or medium settings.
How is the screen in comparison to the 2S 1200p screen? Would you recommend 1200p vs 800p?
+1 on this. Also interested in seeing how bad the "blurriness" is dropping to 800p from 1200p vs native 800p. I'm finding it super hard to find any video comparison for this even though people seem to talk about it alot.
@@str1derD Bluriness is not really an issue. You can enable AMD’s proprietary image sharpening from AMD Adrenaline and it will resolve any bluriness and look like it’s native resolution on a small 7inch screen. I am more concerned about heat, color and contrast. AMD Image Sharpening can also be stacked with the in game FSR 2.0 settings.
Really interesting for smaller size but tbh for this price ally still better choice
I’m good wit the ally!! I would want this!!! But I know if I order and give my money!!it be a year before I receive
How did you get ayaspace 2 ? I have the 2s and it still comes with old ayaspace
Man if the Nintendo Switch have a more rounded joycon with that shape, would be nice looking.
Could you try the GPD G1 on this Geeks 1S please?
How does PS3 emulation play on this when its flashed with linux? Also, are the joystick and D-pad on the same quality as a PS vita? I am not familiar with this system but it looks good
Which handheld is cheaper with RDNA 3 APU'S?
where can I get the dynamic wallpaper from amd changing its color?
Borderlands 1 and Diablo 2, 3 and 4 would be really cool to see!
What docking station can you recommend for this?
Please explore the limits faults and strengths of ayaspace plz.
Reminds me a bit of the legendary Smach Z
It has perfect overall hardware but the only thing missing is freeaync. After owning the Aya2 and having used the Ally for 2 weeks now I can say that the screen on the Ally makes gaming on it more sense. Here’s hoping we will see 120hz freesync on future devices. Actual landscape screen is a must.
Seriously lol anyone who owns an Ayaneo and Ally device will agree just how insanely amazing the Allys freesync is. That itself is a killer feature that no other handheld can match with at the moment. When I go back to playing my Geek after spending some time on the Ally the first thing i notice is the choppy drop in frames whilst on the Ally the Freesync just smooths it out. It's a thing of beauty.
@@xXanaXBloodXx I had Ally for a month, the screen is great, but most of time it doesn't matter to me, as AAA games can't really get more than 60 FPS
@@HyperOpticalSaint not sure what kinda games or setting you were playing on, but I'm able to achieve above 60fps on games like Akrham City/Asylum, Dead Space 2/3 Resident 2/3 Remake, Spongebob Cosmic Shake, Little Nightmares, Bioshock Infinite, etc. The vast majority of my games are able to reach an average of 70-120fps depending on graphical settings.
@@xXanaXBloodXx Lots of very old games... You know you don't have a point.
@@HyperOpticalSaint keep crying. They're still AAA games lmfao
do you know is it possible or the best way to turn normal android to android tv, with UI UX remote and app
Is there a way to factory rest this I tried keep getting an error message
with these handheld consoles that are not made by Xbox / Sony or nintendo, where do you buy the games from?
just treat these things as small pc/laptop but with just screen and controller attached to it. It running Windows 11 so where you buy the games? Ofc steam, epic games, etc. You can play emulator as well. Only steam deck has it own custom OS (steamOS which based on linux) but you can still dual boot
You are [ONE OF] the hardest working UA-camrs in this space. But serious question--do you ever get bored when so many devices have essentially the same specs and design?
Probably not, because most handheld reviewer get them for free. Imagine how cynical and jaded they will be if they had to spend +$1000 per week on these things and realized it will be eWaste by next month
Taki Udon has the best channel he even replies to his viewers comments.
hardest working?????? 😂
Hardest working? You people will type anything for likes.
LoL
Damn, the new AYAspace looks way nicer than Armory Crate
They should use solid state frost active cooling
at 30fps u can run a lot of these games at some pretty nice graphics settings, kind of insane where tech has gotten us, play any current game right now, without needing to wait for a port say on switch or beg for one when the switch 2 comes out and such, competition is heating up
These 7840u handhelds can definitely do 30fps Ultra settings on almost every AAA game available.
Give it 2 years more, and the 60fps Ultra settings will be easy.
Kinda unrelated but my Steam Deck arrives in a couple of days, super excited to begin my journey in the world of handheld PC gaming
Should have went for the ROG Ally.
Yep, Asus Ally is a beast love mine the Steam Deck is collecting dust. Considering on it selling it.
15W running Cyberpunk 2077 with no sweat!
It’s so nice to see someone test the 800p screen. Too many people test the 1200p screen and I think that screen is unnecessary
Yeah, next video if you can compare the 1200p screen on the 2s, brightness levels both high and low, saturation, refresh rate, etc. That's the thing giving me pause to decide, do I need the 1200p or will the 800p suffice. Thanks
@@j.davideverhart1964 I think it depends on what kind of games you're playing. I tend to stick to current-gen AAA games, and while I can't directly comment on the Ayaneo Geek 1S, I've had other Ayaneo products and found most AAA games tend to work best on these handhelds around the 720/800P resolution. With that in mind, if you run a game at 800P on a 1200P screen, it ends up looking blurry due to uneven pixel scaling. That's why I went with the 800P screen this time, but even I don't know if I'm ultimately going to regret my decision.
I do think the 32GB ram upgrade is worth it though as the iGPU gets a percentage of the system ram as its vram. I've heard some people say it adjusts automatically, but I don't believe that's how it works. As far as I know, you basically end up with 3GB VRAM on the 16GB model and 6GB on the 32GB model.
I can only comment on what I did, but I stuck to the 800P screen but got the ram upgrade on my order of the Geek 1S.
which should i buy , this or asus rog ally?
does it have any weird spyware? or extra 'spychips' on the board?
It looks so similar to the Ayaneo 2, why would you get one over the other?
I would love to see steam OS or other linux distro on it
Can you please include diablo 4 and FFXIV in your game tests? Im a huge fan of your reviews but these 2 games seem to be missing considering they have a huge community.
Tbh for what you get the price ain't that bad. A lot fo mini pcs that are still rocking 6000 series CPU are the same price as this.
For such a small company, I don't understand how they afford the r&d for all these refreshes.
Really wished you got the white one
A 720/800p is all these handhelds need, but just wish they all would be oled and landscape.
A 720p OLED screen is far better than 1080p IPS on such small handhelds.
Don't know why they don't use it. $150-200 more??? No problem, it's worth it.
@@Games-kk5bm200 is a lot to add to the price when you are competing with better handhelds like the steam deck for less than 400
Can we map lc rc button to keyboard 11:43 11:44 11:45 key in as2 now?
I think that, 800p is a very good resolution in 7", better than 1200p. So I think that the 1S is a very good option at $699. Could you please do a more in depth review?
I would love to see this play a game like diablo 4 or call of duty .
How’s the fan noise?
Is it portrait or native landscape?
Still wish they just stuck with 800p screens because even the 780m Rdna 3 you’re not running much of anything at 1080p 60 yet so have to drop most games to 720p anyway 😢
Just a heads up: they just release a bios update that take the DDR memory to 7500mhz
I think that the 800p is the bes version, because you will be playing at a native resolution, in the 1200p version surely you will play on 800p but with blurry image
Display refresh rate??
Please teach us how to use auto tdp
No battery life tests?
how are the temps
Where I can I get that wallpaper ?
Is it compatible with E-Gpu?
WHERE ARE YALL BUYING THESE AT?!!!!!!!!!
Rog Ally compared vid maybe? 😊❤✌️
