This would accomplish dodging the usual boredom-related pitfalls: Repeating the same shit with alts to the point of meh, being able to look for and be exposed to spoilers that spoil those quests for you. There'd be little point in creating online guides for content whose life span is counted in hours. In SoD phase 1 there was genuine vitality in figuring out how to unlock the new runes, but then they got spoiled by content creators and on datasites like WoWhead, which basically told you where to go and what to do, and it was the same steps for each player, so it could actually be spoiled. And at that point it stopped being an adventure and became a meh set of instructions instead, and people would force themselves to get them asap so they would be stronger in competetive content, and not get laughed out of groups/raids by not having the good ability.
the problem with bfa is the entire war ended before the expansion started for the player after the intro lordaeron event, and the rest of the expansion was people complaining about being violent for no "honor" until nzoth
Kotik looks like the Goblin king
I think the panda's in MoP got a lot of hate because it came out after the first Kung fu panda movie. So people assumed it was based around that goofy character when in reality Kung fu panda was inspired by WoW's story
Ya that guy definately didn't play wow
Dystiny dropped in 2014 which was massive
wrath launched in 2008.
league launched in 2009.
subs started dropping in 2010.
coincidence?
@@BattousaiHBr yup
His smile in the thumbnail is unnerving... it feels like he's standing outside my window or something
That South Park episode is what introduced me to WoW. I remember watching that episode over and over again even while playing. Good times.
i played wow back during BC vanilla. for a month. never went back.
What people don't get is that we have more subs right now than in the "golden era" of WOLTK with 12 million. The differents is we have more versions of wow now.
The statement that the wow mount made more money than SC2 is just bullshit. Its just this video of the guy where its mentionend and theres no proof for it. Also hes ignoring the fact that the mount came out in Cata after Blizzard had already invested Millions and 9 years of development... It really summarizes the wow criticism. Some guy on youtube makes a statement and everyone repeats it.
He was a dev on the game. Maybe you could atleast learn that fact before getting all up in arms 😂 classic braindead youtube commenter
He’s not just some guys he worked at blizzard and he was in the development team for StarCraft ,also his dad is like a legend in blizzard
@@soheilsafari6572 Im a developer myself and I have no clue about my companies finances. People treat people that worked at blizzard like they have some godlike insight into the whole company.
@ 52:50. Savix is giving the same tired opinion that causes MMO's to fail. Time investment shouldn't be valued over skill. They constantly lock power improvement behind time grinds. It should be skill based. People understand better players win that's why shooters stay consistent.
you can't be saying stuff like that or you will trigger the late 30 boomer dads with sloth reflexes.
I wish we had some kind of classic+ with some quality of life from retail.
I`m tired of how little retail improve with our feedback, and in classic we are just lab rats in SoD copium for classic+
and now going in another classic classic classic fresh to play over and over again with our nostalgic hats waiting for something that may not even happen,
and paying for it.
and I hope the story on retail get less lame.
we need a wow 2.0, a real cataclysm like FF14
20 years later and I still havent found a better mmo, some mmos do things better, like combat or graphics, but usually they lack many other things, especially now with microtransactions old style mmos died . If WoW dies we get WoW 2 , and that will never happen.
I just did Deviate Delight and it was fun. I'm really not sure about the relaunch if I do jump into it I think BWL would be about it for me. I really have no interest in going further as it gets too sweaty.
If developers from 2004 who had to build everything themselves, and trouble shoot it are putting out better games faster than a bigger dev team from 2024 there’s only a few reasons why, and the main two are lack of passion, and corporate greed.
Playing as the villian is what we need. To live the story, to connect. Thats when we will enjoy the story once more.
How does that even work?
Ofc they did Pandaria for the Asian market + remember that movie Kungfu Panda? Came out a lil bf.. The Asian market is enormous compared 7x compared to USA..
EU is twice the pop of USA lol
Wow will never truly die because theres nothing to ever replace it.
there wont be any more mmo's being released.
Wow will die when we will get a decent mmo.
considering ashes of creation and their stance on death penalties, it doesn't seem like WoW is dying any time soon.
waiting for that for 20 years now
Cata is the start of retail for real, pandaria was even worse (daily quest and shit)
daily quests were added late TBC (isle of quel'danas).
i remember because i was there doing it.
the biggest take away i got was Americans say 'niche' weird
Retail WoW is dead or at least actively dying, not in a sense that no one plays it, but that the warcraft vibe/identity is not there anymore. WoW has become soft with all these ''friedship'' themes when it used to be about smashing your enemies to bits, including the opposing faction...and generally an outright war, warmongering. Having to see Horde and Alliance act like buddies just makes me cringe to the core, that's just not warcraft in the slightest, in fact it's anti-warcraft. The whole vibe of the game these days is so off putting.
22:18 Savix locks in
at this point can we just please have a classic fresh every year from now on :P
10million subs just on their new fresh classic China servers right now. Dead game
Relaunching old content over and over again and living out of nostalgia very creative and innovationist
you do realize how many people live in china right? 10m is a drop in the bucket, like less than 1%

... but you had to go panda if humans went mech as NE!
As for pandas it not the model, it’s not the concept. It was the racials. If they had a nelf, orc, human equivalent racial. People would be all of it.
WoW dies with us and not a second before. Might sound a bit morbid but the game will only die when the generations that grew up on it die out.
You forgot the soda eye filter
I just wanna say: retail players hates classic players too
goddamn multiscreen Goldeneye oooof those were the days. also pet pvp arena is crazy xD OR make ingame pet battle autochess/TFT
Most beloved Arthas become 100 anima in Shadowlands kekw Wrath was not that much good expansion but yes sure classes had little boost. Bring player not class was not true since no one wanted frost mage, bm hunter, destro lock. Dungeon was better than in tbc and classic but had issues as balanced specs, some raids was boring as hell. From entire Naxxramas was faceroll and make huge leap in difficulty of raiding later than pug simply could not do smooth entire future raid and dreaming about hc and hardmode. Ulduar only Algalon was great fight, toc was more as mega dungeon than raid, ICC was place where u could see Arthas Lich King one from few times in entire expansion and expansion was suposed to be about him lol. And dont forget spaming Ulduar for 2 seasons because healers bis weapon as hunter using darkmoon card even in ICC progression... Fun times!
I played WoW and did drugs xD but i had good times in both so doesnt feel like a waste of money to me either lol
3:40 madeleine de Proust cocorico !
My entire Cataclysm guild back in the days quit during Firelands to play Diablo 3... And then some friends went to play League..
very few content creators point out the fact that the biggest reason for players quitting is simply fiercer competition. not on the MMO genre but other games.
not being f2p is a GIGANTIC negative for attracting players, I've personally failed to recruit a dozen friends to play because of it.
@@BattousaiHBr well said ! also teenagers want to brag about how good they are at a game and wow is not it..i remember a decade ago i said amongst friends that i reached diamond in league and they thought i was a demi god.. that doesnt happen with because nobody cares..

This guy (in the original video) is just clueless, you were spot on that he doesn't play the game, on top of very superficial and often wrong research. For example LFR was bad because... it caused noobs to ruin difficult raids by screwing up? What? With a Leeroy Jenkins clip from vanilla to illustrate it? Just slop content.
I don't like the guy of the video.
He tries to being fun by being a hater instead of doing actual research.
Cata and Mop were great, even if it didn't have the same success as Vanilla - Wotlk
Im quitting retail for classic fresh.
I dont get how people say this when TWW has been so fucking good. You can tell by the sheet amount of people back in the cities. People just like to parrot doomers for the views is all. You are allowes to dislike the game dont get me wrong, but dead? Nah thats just objectively wrong.
Wow dead is a meme as old as the game itself😂 even if blizzard some day decides to no longer have wow servers there will be private servers u will be able to play wow in 50+ years no question in my mind about that😂
ironic is the same guy that said u think u do but u dont was him to present vanilla ahahahha real punishement
It'll never die thanks to addiction and nostalgia. But the story and characters sucks. Became world of Pixar pillow fights. But i still play for PvP lol
wrath was so good
Retail wow = dead
Classic wow = dead
Login too both people online
Nostalgia is a hell of a drug. WoW will never die but I do feel sorry for those people who have spent most of their lives on the game because then they will spend the rest of their lives on the game. Their decision, their life. I'm excited for PoE2.
same.
playing lost ark when it launched really rekindled my passion for games.
i still play retail but im excited to go hard on other games when they come out.
Wow has ben mediocre for a long time now. Its certainly not dead, but the golden days are long over
ahh the salt makin asmon bald
I’ve been saying the main problem comes from the foundation of the game. Remove addons and implement quality of life changes.
Pretty sure WoW having about 9-10 million subs isn't dead. lol
WoW is dead! You hear me? Dead! Now move over, I was promised the head of Broodlord Lashlayer because Scarab Lord is up on SoD babyyyyy!!!!
Star Wars Galaxies.... Wildstar. Those are dead MMOs, Warhammer Online, that is a dead game. Sure it has a fan thing going on, but officially it, and all of those named are dead. When WoW reaches that state, if it does, then you can pronounce it dead. Before that? STFU. you don't like it? fine. i'm sorry you feel that way, but there are still tons of us that do.
Most of those guys in the beginning of the vid dooming on wow, are has beens or never were. Athene? just a troll cult leader that couldn't stay relevant. the "make WoW great again." never ever heard of him untill his loud exit from the game. lol
No, it is not dying.....and it won't be for the foreseeable future. All of the morons saying this are just butt-hurt because they don't like the way the game is evolving & they are mad that they paid to play it for years & years & years. The really ironic thing about it? Most of those butt-hurt morons are STILL paying for the game they claim is dying.
How do you kill that which has no life?
poe 2 out blizz diyng inside on 6th december
its not dead since bot exist and everyone is a hype/streamer sheep
The new devs are just some of the worst in the industry and surviving off the nostalgia for the original devs. It's all time-gated garbage that ignores what the far majority of the players want in favor of catering to the incredibly small fraction of top raiders and m+ players. I came back to try TWW and found it to be worst than the game has ever been, so now I'm back playing private servers where small teams do a much better job than a multi--billion dollar corporation.
the genre is dying not only wow
Oh its this video again lmao. Haven't seen this one before... in like every expansion... from like every WoW content creator. C'mon Savix, do better.
I love how dumb ppls thing "cholesterol" is the problem here sheesh
Nope retail is crap
I still play EverQuest.
It would have died if a certain someone didn't talk about it, but then blizzard are just taking advantage of it while they are being suppressed. still the game sucks until it is saved by the one who can.
Anyone who thinks WoW is dead should visit my server sometime. 😂
tbc ruined wow
Savix bias is out of control, at this point Savix is the only one on earth who loved every single expansion. Toxic Positivity is destructive misterman PPC
I’m just glad classic is a thing bc wow would have really died if classic didn’t come retail is just not a challenge except some raids but retail is way to fast pace its to easy to lvl up and bgs are always dead
for me the only option is the Riot MMO, if it's rlly good, wow is dead if not wow gonna still #1
didnt riot mmo got cancelled? or pushed back to 2030 or something
@@Sypher-NL yep supposedely had to scrap everything and start over again
you don't need to be IQ 200 developer to see that when you strip and rollback your modern product of 90% of content, systems, improvements and you end up with better and more enjoyable one, then you did not chose the right path.
better and more enjoyable according to who?
at least try being honest.
Classic is like a fine dining restaurant, meanwhile retail is a fast food restaurant that charges more than fine dining.
Long time wow player here. I'm quitting after SoD.
see you in the Season of Return.
I mean shadowlands literally almost offed the game lmao so the game can def die if they just repeat that. Besides that only game I could see even remotely stealing a lot of the wow player base would be riot games. If they can capture the magic wow classic has but improve alot of the down sides and create better endgame then what classic and retail provide with better social aspects. Then that’s when wow will truly die
people coping too hard, the game _can_ die, its just that blizzard backtracks just enough to prevent it. it will take one hardline stance to kill the game entirely and send it into maintenance mode.
part of the classic wow magic is the downtime like it or not something that wont be implemented in any game nowadays.
the game did not even come close to dying during shadowlands
there were enough m+ pugs to play all day, same for raid, literally the only bad part about shadowlands was the covenant system lol
Classic is absolute trash garbage vomit and so on
Retail is absolute trash
Its literally better than it's ever been but ok
